My BIG plans for New Year's Eve

I know a lot of folks are going out to big parties, meeting up with friends, and planning a fun-filled night. I hope each of you has an incredibly good time! New Year's Eve, of course, is a big deal, and having a celebration makes sense!

For me, this year I'm spending the evening with my ten year old grandson, Daniel. His mom and step-dad are going to a big party in Nashville, spending the night in a hotel (smart , they don't drink and drive) then waking up and having a leisurely breakfast before heading home in the morning. Daniel and I will head out tonight before the partying starts. More than likely, we'll stop at McDonalds (he LOVES that place) and then, with his food still in the bag, we'll go to MY favorite place, a local Thai restaurant that doesn't mind little boys bringing in a McDonald's bag. This place has the best coconut soup and chicken panang I've ever had, and the service is great, too! After he's downed his last french fry (he's a slow eater) we'll likely stop by a local ice cream place for a special treat. Then, home, where he'll start playing video games and I'll either start sewing, doing some macrame, or, most likely, I'll hop back on the computer.

I know, that sounds like a little too much fun for one evening, but I'm gonna' do my best to stay up until at LEAST ten o'clock. Daniel already knows he'll be watching the ball drop on his own. Maybe I'll set the alarm for 11:55 so I can be there with him.

Happy New Year, everyone! May all your dreams come true in 2010!

Many years I had either friend's children wih my girls or later, my grandchildren for New Year's Eve. We pigged out on junk food, played games and at midnight took pans and spoons and banged them on the front porch.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and enjoy your grandson...sounds like a nice evening planned.

That's a great idea, Abelle! I bet he'd love it, too! I've never been a late-night or party type, so home is right where I want to be! I hope you have a great evening planned, too!
