Very interesting. I saw a documentary recently about why so many people are getting cancer. So many of the materials in our clothes these days are synthetic and made out of 'plastic'. Every time we wash those clothes in a washing machine some of that plastic comes off the clothes and gets into the water. Multiply that by hundreds of millions of families doing their laundry and you can imagine the huge amount of plastic in our water supply. They dissected some fish for the documentary and OMG the fish are also full of plastic, then we eat the fish. Our bodies can't handle plastic but we are ingesting so much of it every day.

The grocery stores I frequent don't have plastic bags at the register.....you have to bring your own bags. I have a lot of colourful silky nylon bags that take up very little room. My daughter uses collapsible box-like bags that don't squish the groceries........All stores ask you at the check-out now if you want a bag instead of automatically putting your purchases in a plastic bag.....Most manufacturers haven't caught on yet that we consumers are beginning to choose products that have less plastic......Bubble wraps are going to have to go soon......The focus on convenience over the environment is so over. My lifetime is how long the almost religious loyalty to convenience has grown.....The ads from the 50's attest to the obsession with convenience.......and it has buried us under a mountain of plastic garbage.
