Why are young people so inconsiderate?

I take public transit to go downtown several times a week and am appalled by the lack of consideration for others extant in young people today.

Why do they babble on their mobile phones at the top of their lungs?
Do they think the whole world is interested in who Jamie is going out with?

Why do they stand at the train exits blocking egress for others when they aren`t getting off?

And their language!

Every second word is either 'awesome', 'sweet', or 'like'?
Don`t the schools teach English any longer?

If I had spoken that way, Fr. Connolly would have had me in detention for a week!

O tempora! O mores!

laughing good here at your "Awesome-Sweet and Like" reference, I always remind the young ones that I actually talk with, that if they did happen to see something really awesome, they would have no word for it as they would have already used the correct one up on some guys T-shirt.
You just gave me an idea.

T-shirts with "I like LIKE" on them in big letters.

And why don't they use their turn signals when they change lanes?

Life is hard for you Bike, poor guy.... Stop complaining and just join in...I can see you hawing an 'awesome' life, lol
I think it`s simply swell of you to worry so much about my emotional being.

Your concern is touching, and I hope I can repay it someday.

Hi Rent: One time I was in a coffee shop and four teenage girls who looked around 16 years old got out of a brand new car with personalized licence plates, then sat at the table right next to me. Right after they arrived, every single one of them whipped out a cell phone and the whole time they were there they were shrieking and laughing so loudly as they all talked on their phones to more of their peers I suppose but not to each other, then they left. Everyone in the coffee shop seemed relieved to see them go.

No, I feel a lot of the younger generation emulate their peers, not their parents! As a matter of fact, I have this g/f whose daughter is 23 and still speaks that way. I once asked her how she relates in a job interview. She couldn't comprehend what I meant, so I gave her an example and she found nothing wrong with it. So go figure. Now we know why .. oh and her mom agreed!

I know what you mean. Young people have become extremely rude. When I was young I would have had my butt whipped if I acted that way. My grown children agree with me - they see the same attitude in young people.

I also see same in the workplace - the younger generation has an attitude of entitlement. I agree with Sandy - much of it starts in the home.
