They just don't get it

In the two years Donald Trump has been president there have been numerous elections and numerous appointments. It appears none of them have worked out too well for the GOP. Senate and House districts President Trump won by enormous margins either lost to democrats or the margin of difference was double digit figures lower than the 2016 elections. There was considerable controversy and discussion over this change of events, but the GOP apparently disregarded the drastic change or at least gave it little thought.

The polls indicated strongly the same changes, but, once again, polls are worthless endeavors unless they favor the GOP.

Now comes the 2018 midterm elections and the GOP stands to lose perhaps as many as 40 seats in the House. Fearful of such a vast loss of power, overtones of voter fraud fill the air, despite Florida's long time reputation for voting irregularities. President Trump is in full panic mode and suddenly the rumors of firing Jeff Sessions become a reality, his seat to be filled temporarily by a loyal Trump supporter. No surprise there. The reality of impeachment and indictment suddenly loom high with the President and his minions.

Now we send the President of the United States to Paris to celebrate the end of WWI and he hasn't the common decency to attend one of the important events of the visit because of rain. No one has reported the whereabouts of Vladimir Putin during this time. You can boast about the economy, which began during the Obama Administration, you can boast about tax cuts which seems to benefit the wealthy more than anyone, and you can somehow brag about 5200 troops on the border to greet a few hundred potential immigrants, but in reality we have a president ill-equipped to perform the job for which he was elected. As I have repeatedly said, you blind and loyal followers of this miscreant bear much responsibility for the damage to our nation. Believe me when I tell you your feet will be held to the fire during the recovery.

Have you ever had a flight cancelled because of bad weather. Would you insist on putting the pilot and everyone else at risk or change your plans? The White House Military deemed it unsafe to fly the Presidential helicopter because of bad weather and grounded it. The President made alternative plans to honor the WWI Veterans at another site. I am sure the folks at the alternate site were thrilled to have an unexpected visit from the President.

Is his staff too incompetent to read weather reports and set up alternative transportation? a backup plan?......Surely he could go by motorcade like the others......

The level of fealty is astonishing.....I have never seen anything comparable, except in cult members.......Emissaries of Divine Light and the Jehovah Witnesses...and the stories my father told about the followers of Hitler and Mussolini......I've read about it, of course, but to see it first hand like this is quite extraordinary........The Authoritarians in action......magnified by Social Media.....

Obviously his staff DID read the weather reports and set up an alternative plan.

SURESNES, France — President Trump spoke without an umbrella during a cold, rainy Veterans Day ceremony in France.
The ceremony at Suresnes Cemetery near Paris was Trump's final scheduled stop before returning to the U.S.
"This is certainly the highlight of the trip," Trump said, after putting down his umbrella to speak.

The few reporters who chose to attend huddled under umbrellas, with ponchos over their computers. Many others chose to remain at a hotel press filing center.

You must like being controlled by the "thought police" for a nation that is not yours so you allege. Do you enjoy hypocrisy of the attitude of "others can think and say anything they want, as long as it agrees with what you think." Are you so polarized that any thought or belief that does not "toe the party line" is not to be tolerated?

It's absolutely mind-blowing, isn't it?
What I find astounding is that these people think they can be religious and totally irreligious at the same time. And I do not mean just the Christian religion...it is not confined to any one religion.

To my mind declaring belief in something means... that belief is the catalyst for all of your words and actions. Having two opposite beliefs and acting on them, is hypocrisy.

Trump tweets that these deadly forest fires in California could have been prevented and are the fault of those incompetent officials in California who grossly mismanaged their forests. What a heartless and uninformed president who only cares about blame and money. He couldn't care less about all the people who died in this fire, all the people who lost almost 7,000 homes and businesses. No word how he plans to rebuild anything, no sympathy for the loss of lives and property. He says he may cut federal funds to California which incidentally mainly votes Democrat. Can they impeach a president for being heartless?

He believes he can do whatever he wants to do, he see's himself as the king of the world. If he can't get his way by honest and fair means he will get it by foul means.
The man is a traitor...and is every bit a dictator as Duterte (someone he admires!) is.

Hopefully, now he's lost control of the House of Representatives, he will at least find it more difficult to go on reducing his country to a "sh*thole".

'but in reality we have a president ill-equipped to perform the job for which he was elected."?

I find it strange how people can't see the light....in front of their eyes. How they think they control the on/off switch.....Without agreed premises...There is only dark, no matter how many times you flip the switch.

When the answer to your question is obvious...Yet, 40% of the people are unchanging.. in their answer.. maybe you are asking the wrong question....when the answer from those 40% is also obvious.
They believe Donald Trump is perfectly equipped, to perform the job they elect him for..

Ever since Ronald Reagan.....Conservatives, Religion, alt-right, smaller government, and less taxes... have had a myriad of Presidents.. who were ill equipped to do the job, they were elected for.. Yet, Ronald Reagan, kept them together. still hoping and still trying...
But then came Bill Clinton..And when it came to compromise he took all the Credit.. And when it came to morals, he lacked them.. That idea was hard for them to bear... and their hope began to fade.. Then George W Bush, and although we believe he destroyed himself.. they didn't quite see it that way.... they saw us digging his grave, before his time... Then the final straw Barrack Obama. At the time of barrack Obama's inauguration .. The bells were ringing...A new age...The optics of that, were impossible for them to justify.....The final straw of them becoming the 'forgotten people"
The ball was no longer in the middle of the field, and they were on the defensive.
Obama, under any circumstances, could not succeed..they made that clear.
They became offensive... on the defensive.
Through a lack of true leadership..They became angrier and angrier.
Ted Cruz saw it and try to take the reins. With threats of shut downs, and obstruction..But it wasn't good enough... Ted Cruz was just ANOTHER politician.
They knew politics was going to change the trend.. to give them hope. They needed someone else to change the trend...To be unbelievable, fantastic, and the greatest ever.. of being offensive in their defense.
I honestly believe Trump doesn't really give a shit.. but Trump realized the situation, took advantage of it.. and took the reins. Many of them realized it too, but it didn't matter.. Trump was their man for the job...They elected him to do that job..
So you may see that he's ill-equipped...yet they see he's perfectly equipped..and the more you see he's ill-equipped the more perfectly equipped they see him.

But there is no going back,Now.... Because only with the ball, can they lose their coalition..For them or for Trump...and no matter where the ball rests on the field now.. they will continue to be "offensive on the defensive". They now... know no other way.

Of course.. They believed Democrats, are now on the defensive, and trying to be offensive.... but Democrats can't change their behavior either...... Democrats don't know how to play defense
Democrats don't really see it any different than Republicans.... Republicans.. think Democrats are winning and need to be STOPPED.....
Democrats know they they winning and are just sitting on the ball.
And in the long run.... Republicans... can't do anything about it. Too many penalties
and If you can't score..... You can't win

I know "you folks" think I'm crazy.. But here's the deals I will not argue with "you folks". You only got your 15 minutes of fame..NOW.
Here's what I KNOW..... NOTHING, NOTHING.. Trump has done will last. will stand the test of time... NOTHING of what he has done. is what it may seem to be NOW.....
Trump legacy is written in stone.....on the trash heap of history...
And "you folk" will not come out of it..smelling like a rose...You already know it.
And can't "Air Wick" it..

I need not argue... You don't scare me.. one iota...Time will tell, and it will be sooner than latter... so let me tell you with what I KNOW to be the end result.....And it being your last 15 minutes of Fame....WTF...You might as well GO FOR IT..

Can you explain the reality of impeachment to me?
As I understand it, the odds are pretty slim since the Reps control the Senate.

A better strategy is what Rick Wilson suggests. Death by a thousand cuts using the investigative mechanisms the Dems now have available to them.

" Read a weather report " They are always soooooo accurate.

The motorcade idea was abandoned out of courtesy. It causes traffic tie up, road closures, and requires extensive planning .

I am sure they will waste time and taxpayer money on endless investigations, despite the voters saying their number one priority is health care. Voters did not list impeachment on the issues they care about and why they voted.
Inside the Beltway is so out of touch with the American people.
Democrats could ensure their seats in 2020, and even win the Presidency if they knock off the petty crap, work with the Republicans, and pass some really good legislation. Obama would not have lost the entire Congress had he worked with Republicans on Obamacare. Pelosi said she refused to work with Republicans " We won, we write the bill " . Trump is a deal maker- he loves to make deals- this is the Democrats chance to shine as Statesmen and legislators. But they won't- they will just continue the petty investigations, and shoot themselves in the foot.

Trump has never said " I have a pen and phone, and if Congress won't act, I will ". He has never said he was going to " fundamentally change America". He has never made recess appointments when Congress was not in recess. He has not unliterally signed agreements with foreign powers like the Iran Deal and the Paris Accords, that, by Constitutional standards, should have been treaties to be approved by Congress. Trump got us out of those deals.

Trump told agencies to cut regulations. Using regulations to do what Congress will not, is something Obama did. Trump has weakened the power of the Federal Government and the Progressives, who believe in an all-powerful Central Government, hate it.

Trump has given the power back to the people the Progressives want to take away. And you call him a dictator. If he a dictator, then he is worst one in history.

Only 2% of California forests are in State hands....all the rest is Federal.....In 2017, Trump cut billions from the forest-fire fighting funds...........

let me ask you something....Do you have a vision of what you want..
Is it reasonable to assume it could happen....Could it happen with the current American citizenship.. and what would it take to make it happen.. If you answer it... I'll answer it. I have a vision.. I doubt your vision can get past today.
