Why do subordinates lie to Congress?

How many associates have lied to Congress?

Trump was to show his taxes when they were completed-----(HIS WORDS NOT MINE). What is the time limit on extensions to delay filing?

Tax statements reveal how business is done and can lead to (who) business is done with.

Honest people are forthcoming with the truth.
STILL WAITING!

When a candidate in an election for President of the U.S. asks Russia for help on international TV a person would be totally ignorant to ignore what it means. Especially if the person is a Russian. They get it!

I get it! The stone wall tactic is coming down and humpty Trumpty is in for a fall. LOL The wiggle room is diminishing daily.

Look for a diversionary incident soon. The gullible need relief. LOL
Korea perhaps----or abortion---The repubs need a change of subject. AND FAST!
Party On!

Oh Yes ---some of you Russians come to the U.S. so we can throw you in jail. LOL
Otherwise how can we do it???

I get why we have no Russians in jail. LOL
It is not a valid comparison argument.
Party On!

So it seems that, in the US, if a candidate for president commits a crime that aids his campaign and subsequently wins the election, he cannot be indited while he is in office. Is this true?

This is perplexing...given there has been 36 indictments including 3 companies and Trump associates have been jailed. Further Trump has been implicated in a felony....glad we cleared that up Deborah...Merry Christmas to you.

It's a question under debate. He can be, but it is the Department of Justice policy not to do so. Essentially this suggests that an indictment could be issued after someone leaves office. It's not an issue that has challenged the system in quite the way that the nation is being challenged now, and with Trump. It's an interesting dynamic that under normal circumstances would lead to action by the congress through an impeachment vote in the House of Representatives and then a sanctioning vote by the senate. What the system doesn't really account for is if there is corruption at the highest level in the Justice Department that refuses to refer a situation to the congress for resolution. This is why the question is being raised...how does our system circumvent this kind of corruption. No precedent has been established to account for such a dilemma. In this case, if the special counsel now investigating decides to circumvent the Dept of Justice rules and indict, this would likely be challenged and ultimately decided by the Supreme Court. Since no law has been established to provide means for this...its hard to say what the outcome would be. Would the Supreme Court essentially 'make' law to solve the problem...or, refuse to even take the case, or, decide that the Justice Department rule prevails...thereby prohibiting indictment...in which case the perpetrator of a presidential crime could get away with it given the Department of Justice corruption. It's an ugly problem because if corruption extends into the congress itself...refusing to act on its constitutional obligations, it opens the door for widespread abuses nobody knows might come.

It really, really, really, REALLY matters who you vote for. That's why so many people in America are worried...through a quirk in the system we have a president who actually lost the popular vote in the election by 3 million votes. It's a big problem when you have divided government like this. In American history this has happened...a president wins but loses the popular vote, 4 times. In all 4 times it has led to chaos...

Hmmm... I'm not American and therefore I'm not totally conversant with the rules and regulations of your legal system BUT, I do believe I heard the following which pertains to what Mueller is investigating:

.... his mandate is to investigate XYZ and anything found to be relating to XYZ... The man is thorough - he's doing the job he was given to do ... and the buck stops where it stops.

Interesting how you just categorically state that a president can't be indicted, when the legal experts are still debating it. Most of them agree that it cannot be known until it's tried......and so far, it has been deemed a better choice to impeach first, so as not to besmirch the office. I was asking a technical question, so your leap to a defence of Trump seems odd.......

"There is always someone smarter"

And although Trump thinks he''s the one smarter.. he plays his fiddle to watch the masses dance.

He just can't imagine someone smarter...but there is.....

As Mueller plays the fiddle.. just to watch Trump dance.
