I'm reconsidering,,,,,,,,,, I'm reconsidering my stance on the gun control debate. If I agree that we should ban guns, what plan have those who favor banning them, to keep them out of the hands of criminals and/or terrorists? And with a disarmed populace, or a populace with substandard weapons, how would you prevent a domineering government from becoming tyrannical, and oppressive? Just curious. GBU all, Gavin |

My question would be............. since criminals do not obey laws anyway, who would protect the people when all the guns are only in the hands of the criminals? Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Ditto Mrsjoe. Laws do not stop criminals. They are called outlaws for a reason. Spiritwoman ^i^

According to the Congressional Research Service, there are roughly twice as many guns per capita in the United States as there were in 1968: more than 300 million guns in all. Gun sales have increased in recent years.( January 2016) Population of America, 318.9 million (2014) And that number is based only on legally bought and registered weapons. Those who think the USA doesn't have a "gun problem" are lying to themselves. No... laws will never change that...the only thing that would make a difference is enough people changing their attitude and becoming aware of the wholesale violence the population is involved in. America is a violent society, no matter how you see it "dealing" with violence by being even more violent is totally wrong. It is completely futile and, with America calling itself a Christian Country, what does that say about Christians? I do realise that guns are a useful tool for farmers etc. but most guns are in urban areas, so why does the possession of guns mean more to so many than the value of human life?

I think that it says a whole lot about "some" Christians when you make such a big deal about "In God we trust" But still need 300 million guns to feel safe!!! Seems there's actually very little "trust in God". And that, MrsJoe, is what I question...NOT YOUR RELIGION but your interpretation of it!

I am still waiting for the anti-gun crowd to tell me how they plan to keep guns away from criminals, terrorists, or mentally incapable people? That was my original question. GBU all, Gavin
