The Final Destination

Where is the end of the road?
What is at the end of the road?
So much desire, so much longing,
When does it all end?

From the bank of the ocean of uncertainty,
I see only darkness ahead of me
Is there a shore across the ocean?
Tell me, if there is a place of hope!

Sometimes, I think about this fallacy
Our thirst for a chimerical world has no real end.
It makes my heart sink,
We like a tattered boat drifting endlessly in the ocean
Heading for no where!
What is at the end of the road?
Where is the end of the road?

Dear readers, are we humans, really drifting endlessly in the ocean on a tattered boat having no final destination to anchor?
Tell me, if there is a place of hope?

Based on the Bengali song "Pother Shesh Kothay", written by Nobel Laureate poet R N Tagore.

The subject brought back a memory of many years ago.

I lived in Ohio and about a half block away was a one short block with a sign saying, Dead End and ended at an entrance to a very large cemetery.

Mom and I were going toward the cemetery and she laughed saying, I think this is the first time I have seen a real dead end street

I'm not sure what's at the end of the road, but I'm sure it will be interesting!!

Regarding MrsJoe's comment.... Our city replaced at the Dead End signs with ones that read.... No EXIT. LOLOLOLOL

Your mother was surely a humorous lady, Abelle. Perhaps, she could accept the inevitable end result of something scary as death very easily! Trust that you feel proud for being the daughter of such a wise mother! Please stay well and cheerful always.

Thanks Rocketship for your interesting comment. Maybe, your city fathers thought it necessary to replace the Dead End signs with ones that read..No Exit though the meaning is almost same but less scary, I believe. Incidentally, I trust that perhaps you wanted to refer to Abelle's comment at above in stead of Mrsjoe! Take care and stay happy always my friend!

Hello Joannita for stopping by and leaving such a thoughtful comment on the subject matter of the blog! As I am not sure about the realty now, I would not like to be reborn again for understanding it! Hope you are doing well. Take care.

Were we conscious of our existence when in our mother's wombs? Perhaps what awaits us after physical death is similar, i.e. another existence/realm we can't yet conceive/grasp on a conscious level, only sense/'look through the glass darkly'. A 'rebirth' of sorts. 'All will be well and all manner of things will be well' - St Julian of Norwich

Yes, MySeek, you may say that everything depends on what one hopes for and also what are one's desires! However, if one's desires and hopes turn out to be endless then the problems set in one's life. It is also correct that there may be another shore waiting for us with new opportunities across the ocean, but it may not be the place of hope that the we are looking for! It is not also easy to turn back in time if we don't know where the road ends and what are waiting for us at the road's end? Like the poet, I may also say that human longings are endless and they don't know what wait for them at the end?
Thank you so much for your post, MySeek. Stay well and Cheerful always!

Perhaps, we were not conscious of our existence when we were in our mother's wombs! Lilium, I say the word 'perhaps' because we can not remember what happened during the period when we were growing up slowly in our mother's wombs! I wish that all turn out well for us after our physical death as I can not comprehend what waits for us after our death! Thanks for passing by Lilium. Please stay well always.
