These radicals are so ignorant of history it would be laughable, if it weren't so sad and destructive. Another point about Keys...... although he did own slaves at one time, he set them free, LONG BEFORE THE CIVIL WAR, and then he often defended slaves who were trying to get their freedom. He was definitely ANTI-slavery.
But these radicals found the word slave in our national anthem and without understanding the context, have branded it a racist song and the writer a racist.... even throwing paint on his statue.
I am reminded of movies like Escape from New York, where irrational gangs rule and all monuments and civilization as we know it are destroyed...... is our country headed that way?

I know...... I don't know whether is was amusing, hilarious, or tragic that Berkeley was offering counselling to those who found the conservative speaker to hurt their little egos!
What the hell are these snowflakes going to do in the real world when they are not coddled by university nonsense?

That is a very profound statement and makes a huge amount of sense! I have been trying to gain a little more understanding of the causes of the Civil war and that time frame....... we have a flea market coming up and some of our most popular products have the Confederate flag on them.
At the last flea market, when we just visited not as vendors, there was a group of protesters who were protesting one vendor's flags.... and accosting visitors and other vendors to ask their opinions. If they showed no animosity towards the vendor with the Confederate flag, they were called racists and haters.
They were asked to leave by the police and did so, but I want a little more information as ammunition in case they come back.

I have been watching all that is going on, and I am reminded of Paul Harvey's "If I Were The Devil 1965. It is so darn close.
