In the Trumpian world, those who support him are the forgotten ones.. the unheard voices of discontent, the second class citizens. The bible belters......

Trump is their voice......let them be heard....

What they are finding out is that Trump doesn't listen....You see, it's more about a "wall"..... that walls them off...

Of course Public school teachers in the RED states..... teach all that Liberal crap.....aren't really Trump supporters......If the ability to teach is the criteria for a decent pay.. then those Liberal crap teachers...are getting what they deserve.. Because what the Red States prove.. is they can't teach..

so maybe, Public school teachers, never were Trump supporter... Well.. you can take maybe and shove it.. because even if they were...They.. ARE NOT ANYMORE.

One thing we can be certain about... with you and trump.. There is whole lot of constricting circles..hung around your neck. Kids, and a bunch of bull in a China closet.. So maybe teachers will figure out teaching is a "calling" and like your evangelical ministers.. should do it without pay....Maybe farmers will figure out....when it comes to Trump, China and tariffs... who's porking who?
That amber waves of grain aren't about MONEY. It's about patriotism, empty pockets, and pocket linings.
And that ...Empathy is for the weak.

I have a friend who teaches apprentice electricians at a trade school. There's pressure for him to pass each student as funds are granted only if all students pass. The hierarchy's philosophy is the it's the teacher's responsibility to get each student through.

This is a bad situation as some students dont care, they are there because they have to be through some requirement of parents, or government scheme etc.

He's refusing to pass some because they'll fry themselves first time on the job. Some are dumb, disinterested or both. If they kill themselves through lack of competence his neck is on the line. He wont sign them off if they are no good and gets into trouble with management because he wont. Difficult situation.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

See this is where we differ.

To you it's a matter of economics, money, the cost of things, it's about merit.....

You see.. You may think....I think it's not about those things, but I simply think it has a lot more to do with WORTH than money... a lot more to do with respect than merit., a lot more to do with value..than the cost of things.

Of course that confuses you.. because you've never allowed yourself to be.. put down, put out, or put upon.. You just do it, so it can't be done to you...... So you see....You can only do that when the meaning of someone else's life..doesn't mean something..

Have i confused You? Ya Betcha...
You see... it doesn't confuse me.. I get it.. the fact that you don't.. just proves my point.

As Confucius says.....(or he should have).....
Confusion only exists in the realm of the confused.

Teaching is definitely a calling, and the same for nursing. I'm sure your wife has seen a lot of changes over the years in her profession, the same as I did, and have heard about in the years since I had to quit work.
We just had supper with a retired teacher who still does a bit of substitute teaching. She had a problem student that she had to take to the principal's office on many occasions ..... and she just heard that this student had spit water in the face of another teacher recently and guess who was blamed? The teacher for provoking him by trying to correct his behavior.
I wonder how long will we have good teachers in the class rooms.... I'm afraid the ones who are really there because they want to teach are retiring, leaving the ones who want to indoctrinate children like the article I read in the teacher's magazine back in the early 90s that told teachers they are no longer just to teach, but to shape the society of the future.
God bless your wife for caring about the kids like she does.

Things must be different in Canada Walmarts. We have a family member who works at Walmart and she makes quite a good wage, and she got the big bonus this year and a dollar an hour raise, plus less taxes taken out of her check when Trump announced the new tax breaks.

Our family member makes a very good wage, got the big bonus plus a dollar an hour raise, and works 32 hours a week.... HER choice because she wants 3 days off a week.

Oh, and back to the topic..... LOL. It's my opinion that unions were a much needed organization back in the beginning. But now, they are just an overblown, over paid business of their own, that causes havoc in the lives of their members and the services that their members do.

I saw interviews with several of those striking teachers. Some are teaching during the day then have to work nights driving taxis or at McDonalds, just to make ends meet and provide for their own families. Also some teachers are using what little money they have to buy books and basic school supplies they need to teach. Some have posted pics of textbooks that are so worn they are literally falling apart and being held together with duct tape, classroom walls covered in black mould, and classrooms with leaking roofs and broken windows. It's not just the salary increase they're striking over.

It amazes me.. How people on the Left, all of sudden make Walmart. the personification of the oppressor..
I doubt Walmart is the personification of anything but Walmart.. Conforming to some basic business practices.. No better or no worse than any other big business..In fact Walmart is not the bottom of the barrel...... far from it..

the way I see it... When at checkout of Walmart.....the people on the Left.... go there more often than not..Leave their business opinions in the aisle somewhere.
Get home and wonder why the HAVE to SHOP at Walmart... Like Walmart is controlling them
People on the right.. if they make it to check out counter... and think ..why do I shop at Walmart .. It's beneath me.

I shop at Walmart.. I'm glad they built a better mouse trap..

but this is not about shopping at Walmart.. most of us do..

Maybe not for you, but for some.. It about buyers remorse....big store, long lines, some time got to walk from the parking lot.. lot of foreigners, food stamps. welfare, and almost always'' pushy.. and inconsiderate.. After all that... most people think it wasn't worth a few penny's saved....
but Not me.. i don't think that way..
I always say a penny saves..is a penny you got to earn.

I always find it amazing that the people who know absolutely nothing about labor unions have the most negative things to say about them.

Having your opinion that people are overpaid is one thing but seriously you need to tell the truth.

You claim that the unions "demand teachers walk out of their jobs to strike" OBVIOUSLY you have never seen first hand any union contract negotiations ... public or private sector.
