Oh yes, we grew up the same way in central Illinois.

We took the "lights" off of the lightening bugs and put them on our fingers as if they were rings. Hmmm, I wonder if they died when we did that because they would fly away.

It is always fun to remember the good old days.

If one word could sum it up, I think it would be respect. There is a great lack of it in most areas of our society these days.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I'm not sure how we can get it back.. But there is a couple of things about it that has changed. things we never at the time understood.. it was more a feeling than an understanding..

First the sense of equality.. not the real kind but the feeling kind. American ideals were a base.. Seldom did we come into conflict about it..
It created an amazing sense of things.. We realized the 'silver spoon kids".. weren't better off.. in fact many of them wished they were US..
WE appreciated what we had..our happiness was not based on what we didn't have.
Our parent were "OUR PARENTS" they weren't someone else's parents. They weren't absolved of their parenthood.. by a society that they made them second class citizen. That told the children they were abused.. That made lifestyles "illegal"..
We were once free.. to make our own decisions about it.. we were free to agree or disagree.
We were "controlled" by that which was an uncontrollable (society).. WE lived in ignorance about it... but it's the truer case... that ignorance was bliss.

There were "bad parts" of it.. and then someone came along and said we need to control it... And with the control we lost our freedom.... And with that loss of our freedom.. That which was once uncontrollable (society) became controlled. and WE lost it... WE paid for it by becoming uncontrollable.

Of course it's becomes unsuccessful... As it is when once tries to control and improve upon success.. Think about it?

Trump is doing that NOW.. It's why i hate him.. I have learned what that does.
Agreement is what we need.. Agreement in the truth not the lies of it... makes the difference.. Agreement defines America.

America is not the Great Experiment.. It's the GREAT AGREEMENT!

I don't think anything ever measures up to the Good Old Days. There are some aspects of it that I don't miss but I just take those lessons and move on.

I grew up with Friday night football. Two door hardtop cars and drag racing them on Saturday nights like the movie Rebel Without A Cause.

Small Texas town of 3000. Nothing else to do other than chasing after the girls & practice kissing out on the lonely country roads. LOL

Dry county. We could not afford beer anyway.
Also no carbonated beverages due to football training.
Plain water cokes at the teenage gathering place soda fountain were terrible.

If we had gas money for the car we were OK. (and fortunate)
It was clean living by necessity. We didn't know about drugs.

No racial stuff in that town.
Party On!

Some reminiscing, focus on the good times assigning the dark times to the rubbish pile, while some do the opposite.

The 'old days' ....good or bad....are a matter of how we perceive them through our own personal lens~~~

it's relative to the changes.. Trump isn't the only one that does it..You do it too.

I can blame too.. I see what's to blame.. I see the how of it .. to blame..

Our lives in the past had disagreement but our lives were not about disagreement.. It was about agreement. In disagreement it was about how we could agree. that was the unseen reality of our past...We once TRIED to agree..

You will never believe this.. but I have tried to agree with you.. I have tried for Us to come to an agreement.. but no matter what I say .. you attack it..

When I have agreed with you.. you don't attack it.. but that is soon forgotten..My agreement with you... Never becomes OUR agreement..

So I must live in this changing world....I don't know how to do it.. my entire Life is being challenged... I don't have a base to operate from...So I make mistakes..

I don't want to hate You... why do you want me to?

When it comes down to it.. It's about Hate... and hate which lived beneath the surface of our past.. has come to the top. It's all around Us.. It's all there seems TO BE

Don't tell me it's not about Hate... Don't insult my intelligence.. If you disagree tell me what it's really about?

Tell me how is it possible .. How is it logical...
THAT MORE YOU HATE.. THE MORE YOU LOVE AMERICA.
THE MORE YOU HATE.....THE MORE THAT WILL "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN"..

Then tell me... that's not Trump's message..

TELL ME......WHERE'S THE LOVE?..BUT IN YOUR BACK POCKET.. AND IN THE LOCKED SAFE OF YOUR MIND.

So the only thing I hate is Trump... I hate him... he not the creator of this.. he's the instigator of it..

It relative because in our past .. At the base of it all... what made our life the way it was.. WAS LOVE...Love of neighbor. love of America.. Love for what we stood for...It was never about the TRUTH of it.. It was about the agreement to it...... a love worthy of our subservience to it.....no matter what that took..
It 's been weathered and eroded..To our disappointment. But how can I not hate the personification of it's destruction..
