A PATHETIC STORY FROM SANTA........

During this festive period, we are all happy, preparing for the glorious day. We do special things which we don't all year round.
But not everyone has this great opportunity to be in such a festive mood. Other unfortunate people are suffering, in agony, in grief, in misery and in poverty , unable to celebrate as we do luckily. The following is a very sad story among lots others. Though Christmas and Santa Claus are a joy for all , but ..... this story may bring tears to your eyes and touch your emotion. It's the story of Santa Claus visiting a sick in the hospital. You might have heard about it,. if not, here it is.

Mr. Eric Schmitt-Matzen, each year disguises himself as Santa Claus to entertain in his area. He has no fake facial fuzz and snowy beard is the real thing, He’s professionally trained. Custom-tailored in red. His wife Sharon plays an authentic Mrs. Claus. His cellphone, with a Jingle Bells ringtone, continually counts down the days until Christmas. Even his civilian attire always includes Santa suspenders. The whole shtick is designed to spread joy and to have fun. Recently, Santa Claus, was asked urgently to visit a sick in a hospital and here is his poignant reminiscence : This is what happens when a terminally ill dies in Santa’s arms.

~“I’d just gotten home from work that day,” recalled Schmitt-Matzen, 60, a mechanical engineer and president of Packing Seals & Engineering in Jacksboro.
~“The telephone rang. It was a nurse I know who works at the hospital. She said there was a very sick 5-year-old boy who wanted to see Santa Claus.
~“I told her, ‘OK, just let me change into my outfit.’ She said, ‘There isn’t time for that. Your Santa suspenders are good enough. Come right now.’ ”

Mr. Schmitt-Matzen got to the hospital in 15 minutes. He met the lad’s mother and several family members.
Nobody entered with him. They watched, sobbing, from a hallway window in the Intensive Care Unit. It was the wish of that to see Santa.

~“When I walked in, he was laying there, so weak it looked like he was ready to fall asleep. I sat down on his bed and asked, ‘Say, what’s this I hear about you’re gonna miss Christmas? There’s no way you can miss Christmas! Why, you’re my Number One elf!
~“He looked up and said, ‘I am?’
~“I said, ‘Sure!’
~“I gave him the present. He was so weak he could barely open the wrapping paper. When he saw what was inside, he flashed a big smile and laid his head back down.
‘“They say I’m gonna die,’ he told me. ‘How can I tell when I get to where I’m going?’
~“I said, ‘Can you do me a big favor?’
~“He said, ‘Sure!’
~“When you get there, you tell ’em you’re Santa’s Number One elf, and I know they’ll let you in.
~“He said, ‘They will?’
~“I said, ‘Sure!’
~“He kinda sat up and gave me a big hug and asked one more question: ‘Santa, can you help me?’
~“I wrapped my arms around him. Before I could say anything, he died right there. I let him stay, just kept hugging and holding on to him.
~“Everyone outside the room realized what happened. His mother ran in. She was screaming, ‘No, no, not yet!’ I handed her back and left as fast as I could.

~“I spent four years in the Army with the 75th Rangers, and I’ve seen my share of (stuff). But I ran by the nurses’ station bawling my head off. I know nurses and doctors see things like that every day, but I don’t know how they can take it.’”
In despair, Schmitt-Matzen was ready to hang up his suit. “I’m just not cut out for this,” he reasoned. But he mustered the strength to work one more show.
~“When I saw all those laughing, it brought me back into the fold. It made me realize the role I have to play.
~“For them and for me.”

That was a very sad experience and really hard for the famous Santa Claus to see that dying in his arms, he did a very loving, caring, amazing and selfless act for this young boy in his time of need. May the soul of that youngster rest in peace and may God comfort his family.
I believe this story has given us an idea on how others are in pain and in grief, while we are fortunately enjoying this festive season. Let us appreciate and be thankful to God.
Thank you for your read and views.
Lisa.

I had read this before, and it still touches me very deeply. The compassion this man has for kids is so admirable.

MrsJoe, dear lady, hi and gm to you,

You are quite right MrsJoe, I really admire that man too. In spite of that tragedy he had faced with that boy, he had to take courage and did what he had to, for the other children. It's not easy when one had that sad event in memory but he's really a kind person. Merry Christmas to you and MrJoe. Enjoy each day of this festive season. With my kind regards,
Lisa,

Tom hi and gm to you,

I had my dad died in front of me too. I still remember that moment, I was barely 18 yrs old. He wanted me and my mum to be by his side, the last thing he asked me was, to give him a sip of water, which I did and after which he lay back and died. It was the first time for me to see someone died at my presence , it was really hard for me. I can never forget it. Thanks for your visit and comments. I wish you a pleasant Sunday.

Tom, hi again,

Thanks for your coming back on my above blog. I appreciate your above comments. It's true that the dead cannot remember anything and their pain has vanished too. The death of my dad in front of me, was really a nightmare for me, it stayed in my mind for quite long. He was the only one I had ever seen dying at my presence. It was really hard for me. Thanks once more Tom.
Have a great week. My kind regards,
Lisa,
