Did you know??

Did you know that Tuesday, September 19th is "International Talk Like a Pirate Day"? It was started by 2 guys with I'm sure too much time on their hands or too much booze in the bottle. Dave Barry wrote a blog about it. Monday night the 2 Pirate guys are appearing on what they call "Wench Swap" or we call "Wife Swap". Of all places, I learned of this Talk Like a Pirate Day at church this morning!! haha You can look in search for more information. There is way too much to repeat here. Ahoy Mates and Blimey....arrggghhh

Editor B. sends out a schedule each month, listing all of the special days for that month. Of course, he has a Free Greeting Card website, with cards for every occasion. Now, B. missed International 'Talk-Like-a-Pirate Day'. However, he made up for it big time.

Editor B. says today is 'Women's Friendship Day'. (I think he just made that one up!).

He also says that today is 'God Bless America Day'. Apparently, the US Constitution was completed and signed on this day in 1787.

Lastly, (I think he might have made this one up, too), B. says September 17th is 'Citizenship Day', the day to honour US citizens everywhere.

When all is said and done, I think the fact that today is REALLY 'International Talk-like-a-Pirate Day' sounds like a lot more fun as far as celebrating goes. One could 'costume-up' and do a lot of ho,ho, humming and swashbuckling, (or is that sloshbuckling) before the day is out. Anybody know some good Pirate jokes?

Thanks for adding some colour to what would otherwise have been a bit of a dull day out here in the boondocks!

When I was a kid, I wore an eye patch and had a wooden leg. Shiver me timbers matey but that guidance counseler at my school never once asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up.....Deep down, I longed to be a plumber but thats another story.
