I used to be a blonde..............

Ok, that is my excuse!! Yesterday morning I was curling my hair, put a few in and decided to go downstairs and put my driver'a license in with my ticket confirmation. Well...no driver's license, no credit card, no nuthin! Panic began to set in...

I tore the inside of my purse apart looking for the holder I keep all those things and other important cards. I called to see if any activity had appeared on my credit card. None, so thought I would cancel it later, didn't have time, I had a plane to catch. I looked everywhere I could think it could possibly be. I then called Alfie (hawkslayer) and gave him the bad news that I may not be able to come, no ID to board a plane.

I called 2 of my sorority sisters that I had been with the night before at a meeting thinking maybe they had seen it. One gal went to the meeting place and searched where I had sat. The other had taken all our contributions we bring monthly for our local food give away program. She searched each bag and nothing there.

By then sheer panic had set in!! Both suggested calling our License Branch to get a temporary ID. I did and it went to an answering machine, I left my phone number and after 45 min. and no call I went out in hopes they were open. One day a week they are closed and I wasn't sure if they were closed on Thursday.

I went ahead and finished my hair, grabbed my suitcase and naturally I can't find my birth certificate. I had looked recently and knew I didn't have an actual one, just the hospital's one. I grabbed some social security papers thinking maybe they will work (they don't). I even thought to grab the last payment of my credit card to use as proof I have one if I needed it to get my ticket. The people tried to help and for $10 I was able to get a temporary ID good until Wednesday. She asked if I could give names of people that knew me, business or political. I gave her several names including the ex mayor sitting in the Licence Branch right then. If I didn't produce my birth cirtificate or driver's license by then my driving privliges would be suspended. The gal got it all typed up, picture taken and card made then said...bad news, the laminating machine was not working but should be fixed in a few minutes.

I am about to lose it by then! One gal laughed and told me to quit watching the clock.

I needed to be on the road in 5 minutes or less to get there an hour before the flight.

Just under the wire I leave headed for the airport an hour away.

Driving there I had gone about 13 miles, reached in my side pocket to get a mint and....there was the picture case with my cards, driver's license, etc!! I started laughing and said, God, I know you have a sense of humor and are sitting there laughing knowing how this would end! I had been talking to him and praying all through this.

I called Alfie and said, Guess what I have in my hand. He knew I was on my way as I called him when I got my ID. When I told him, he laughed and said...why didn't you look there? I guess blind panic and didn't see that side of the purse, so sure it was inside my purse. He laughed and said, you really are still a blonde under that white hair!!

Got to the airport and the flight was late leaving Atlanta to pick us up and make a return trip.

I told the lady sitting by me what all had happened and she laughed and bless her heart, she said the same thing happened to her but she never did find hers.

Alfie picked me up in Macon from the shuttle. We were so happy to see each other and it all worked out. He took me to dinner at BoJo's where he went and the big boobed waitress fell against him, knocking him to the floor and "they" landed on his face. He even wrote a blog about this shortly after he joined SFF.

We have been on the go since I have been here. Out to breakfast this morning at The Cornbread Cafe, then too visit friends of his for lunch. We just came in from the Georgia Military School for the Honors Parade. His step grandson was presented an award. It was quite a moving experience. I love Military events and this was a good one to see! Tonight we are meeting his step for dinner at a place called Sylvia's Grill he likes really well and wants me to try.

Tomorrow we are going to sight see and have dinner at Ruby Tuesday's with his friends I met today. Sunday his step is having a dinner for us.

I think I like this "Southern Hospitality" but may need larger clothes if I keep it up!

You used to be a blonde???? Helloooooo.... On current performance, I'd say you most certainly are still a blonde. Like a leopard, a blonde never changes her spots.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Take a deep breath and start all over.
