Where Are They Now?

Puerto Rico has been ravaged. No doubt about it. But in the chorus of whining about Trump not getting it done as quickly as grubers think he ought, there are voices you will not hear: The Puerto Rican independence crowd.

Yep....they want their own debt-riddled banana republic, free of the USA. Over $120 billion in debt, they think they would be better off.

But only AFTER the rest of us rebuild them. And cancel their debt.

Full disclosure:

My aunt retired there. Every time she left her house, it was looted by her neighbors. When she passed away, her "doctor" made up some phony bills and took possession of her house.

Hope it fell on him.

My town went through a severe flood last year. I saw the citizens coming together to help each other. it seems like there was government help but the lion's share of the work was done by the citizens and the faith communities in the Florida and Texas hurricane disasters.

It is not practical to just sit there and wait for the government to rescues you. It could be a long wait.
