This brought a big smile to me..... and a couple of great memories.
First...... when my daughter and her family lived in Indiana, they were visiting for the weekend with me and her siblings in the area. When it was time to say "goodbyes" they went a lot like your blog. Finally, everyone was gone, and the house was so quiet. I didn't know whether to be relieved or sad.
Then, there was a knock on my door! It was my daughter and her family from Indiana. They had gotten as far as the nearest town, went to the store and bought ice cream, and came back to spend more time with me!
Second.......... Joe and I went to our first Nashville bash, and we had a ball. Too good a time to leave as we planned, so we kept getting our room for another night. Finally, on Sunday, we checked out of the hotel and went to lunch with everyone at the Cracker Barrel. After lots of "goodbyes" there, we got into our car to head for home.
Joe said he was sick. I was concerned until he said he was sick that we were going to miss the Sunday night festivities................... so we checked back into the hotel.
Thanks for bringing good memories to remembrance!

My dad would begin driving away VERY slowly,
His mom would walk along---leaning against the car--- talking with both arms resting just below the window opening. He would gradually speed up----leaving her standing there waving goodbye--shouting come back soon. LOL
Then dad would talk about his fear of driving over her feet.
Party On!
