What TV shows do you wish were back on the air?

Were there TV shows before reality TV? Yes, there were. Sure, I can hardly remember them (kidding) but here goes. Growing up I was a huge Marlo Thomas fan. I loved, loved, loved That Girl. I used to watch medical shows like Marcus Welby, long before James Brolin cared about his funny girl. As I got older, I watched the usual sitcoms (I'm not going to talk about B.C. here) including The Golden Girls. They don't seem old to me now.

I was also a big fan of mysteries like Murder She Wrote. I had to solve those crimes. If I didn't, Matlock and others I watched did. I was crazy about James Spader from Boston Legal, a show that I actually signed a petition to put back on the air. It failed but I don't think it hurt James Spader's career. The Blacklist star is a great actor. LA Law was another favorite. David E. Kelley not only won the heart of the gorgeous Michelle Pfeiffer but had quirky shows that I enjoyed watching. The list goes on and on.

Which shows do you miss?

Hi Elaine: Wow you sure come up with some great topics. I love the old sitcoms where you could just relax and laugh...The Dick Van Dyke show, That Girl, Andy Griffith show about Mayberry, Mary Tyler Moore, the Golden Girls. Everything seemed so innocent and lighthearted in those days compared to the explicit t.v. shows and juvenile comedy sitcoms that are on t.v. today.

Thanks so much for those kind words, Francesca. How could I have forgotten to mention Mary Tyler Moore? I loved that show and Rhoda. Regarding the latter, I really admire Valerie Harper's strength and bravery.

Ah The Twilight Zone. I remember that one, Nileyears. The episode that stands out for me is the one where it showed humans looking at animals in cages and at the end, it's the human beings that were in cages. That show was unique and I loved the episodes I watched.

Bonanza I liked, despite it being a western. Lorne Greene was a Canadian, like I am. Who could forget little Joe, played by Michael Landon? I did like Little House on the Prairie too.

I agree with you Pat about what they did with husbands on TV. I never really thought about that before so thanks for pointing it out.

Carol Burnett was good. My favorite part was her talking to the audience at the beginning.

There are many...Matlock, 24, Frasier, Magnum (one of the classiest shows ever in my view). Some of the new ones are good. I'm watching Revenge on Netflix because I didn't watch earlier. I like Scandal, Madam Secretary, The Good Wife. I tend to gravitate to TV for awhile and then get caught up in music or move to something very different. But yes, I do miss some shows. I've been thinking of binge watching the new Dallas.
Thanks for all that, Leaf. I forgot about Frasier and I do watch the new Dallas. When is the new season starting? I watched the old Dallas (I guessed who shot J.R. but was disappointed since I had a more interesting twist that I hoped they'd would have done), Dynasty and of course, Peyton Place. That was my first soap opera and I loved Ryan O'Neal and Mia Farrow.

If you ever see a political post by me, Alfie, it would mean someone hacked my account.

Absolutely, Diane, thank you. Which reminds me, I watched The Love Boat, which starred Gavin MacLeod from MTM. In fact ,when I planned my cruise, I wanted to take it. lol

That's true. I do have a channel that does play The Golden Girls and tons of All In The Family and other old shows. Thanks Pat.

Interesting choices. I never saw the Donna Read show. Actually I never heard of it. Perhaps it wasn't on in Canada. Thanks Maura.
