RECIPES WANTED - Do you prefer to cook or eat out?

I have to admit that I don't love cooking. My mother and I have the same way of looking at it. We don't like to spend hours cooking and then the food eaten in minutes. That said, some of the best food I've eaten has been homemade.

I've made chicken cacciatore, meat loaf, coq au vin, cheesecake (more like cheese pie), rack of lamb and other things. It's been awhile since I've done any of those dishes. I don't know where the recipes are. Lately, it's more Shake & Bake or putting on BBQ sauce on chicken. I do love chicken.

Ok it's your turn. If you prefer eating out, what's your favorite food to eat out? If you prefer cooking, give us your favorite recipe.

For me, I prefer eating out at an Asian fusion restaurant. There is one downtown and the food is great.

I like a good steak and potatoes dinner too so I know what you mean, Pat. Thanks for your input.

Elaine you have posted a blog of my most favorite thng ....food. I don't eat a whole lot. I get together with a couple of close friends and have a nice meal with a glass of my favorite red wine, Merlot. Now that I don't have to rush home to make my dinner and I can cook more leisurely. I do love to cook and I hate eating the same old thing all the time. So I am always scouring the Internet to look for a new recipe to try out. I love casseroles and they are my favorite thing to make but they are always too much for one person to eat. I am not a big red meat eater and prefer chicken. Favorite recipes I have to think about that. I have lots of favorites. Red beans and rice is one of my favorite things to make as it is so easy to make and it is very tasty.

I used to love to go out and eat, but not anymore, I have many reasons why I won't eat at restaurants, but that could be a future blog.

I prefer home cooked meals, but being alone I don't cook everyday, I'll make a pot of chili, soup, stew, or a meatloaf and live off of those for a few days. When I have company I'll cook a roast, fried chicken, olive oil and basil chicken, steaks and baked potatoes, sometimes good old fashioned hamburgers with homemade mac and cheese to name a few, but my girls also like my Italian food, which I don't make too often because I get the complaint that I am making them fat, and we can't have that now can we?

I cooked for a large family for years. Now I cook for someone who has multiple health issues on top of being extremely picky. Not sure if I am a dietician or the food police, so do I like to eat out?. Offer me dinner and I will follow you anywhere.

I have no idea how to make a casserole. I hope you decide to post one of your recipes, Shartaun03, and for that matter everyone else that has a good one should post theirs. I'm glad you enjoyed this topic and thanks as always, for responding to it.

Now that you said that Nileyears, you must tell us why you won't eat at restaurants. I'll look out for your blog on it if you won't tell us here.

Your food sounds good. I never made fried chicken. I don't have a deep fryer. I do use olive oil and paprika and garlic cloves and touch of white pepper for a chicken broiler or turkey. Does it taste good using olive oil and basil alone?

I'll keep that in mind, Spirit.

It must be hard to cook for someone who's picky and has certain food restrictions.

We eat mostly at home and hubby thinks nothing like my home cooking lol. I love eating out but he only does it when we have no choice. One of my favourite past times is trying out different coffee shops. I find It very hard to pass one by. God, I really do love a good latte!

Sounds good, Bill, except the buffalo and venison. I'm not the adventurous type in eating. Lobster, shrimps and snails are as far as I go..

Thanks Maura. We have a ton of Starbucks here. I've never been a coffee drinker but if I was, I'd try a latte.

I'm a good cook, but I don't prefer to cook.

I enjoy eating out or picking up 'take out or take away' whatever your area calls it.
I do a bare minimum at home....pan fried chicken breast, salmon fillet, rib eye steak with salad.

One of the major things I miss being a single, is dining out in the evening with an interesting gentleman.

Thanks Rocket. I've never pan fried chicken but it sounds good.

It's funny but to me, if I'm with someone I enjoy talking to like my sister or mother, I don't feel bad when my boyfriend isn't at dinner with me. I do enjoy going out with him too, don't get me wrong. I just don't need male companionship to be happy.

Thanks Poet_Dancer. I can see your point of view. It's just that eating is so quick compared to the time taken to cook the meal. That said, home cooking often does taste better.
