WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY?

OK, suppose you just found out you won the lottery. It's really large, like $10 million. If you live in the USA, it's probably $400 million. How would you spend it?

I would make sure those I love are set for life. Secondly, I would love to set up a charity in my dad's name. What would you do with your winnings?

You have it all figured out, Pat. Now go buy those tickets. Thanks for sharing what you would do with your winnings.

I'd put a bit in the bank, most I'd invest in rental properties etc to have a steady extra income. Live in the same place, drive the same car etc. Then without telling a soul help people in need without letting them know where it came from and 'innocently' get wowed by their story.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

I think Pat got it right. The most important thing is to get a good advisor, before you even get the proceeds and that is the first thing I would do.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

We buy lottery tickets every week. A couple of dollars win here and there. Yesterday I won $1. $3 the other day. That is my luck, just piddly little amounts.

Where I used to live, a gal had gotten gas and a bottle of soda, started out the door and realized she had $2 change and decided to go back to the counter and buy 2 tickets. She hit the 2nd largest Powerball jackpot of the time. It was split with a man in another state.

She did a lot of good things with her money, helping others that had meant a lot to her throughout her life.

At the time she worked for an investment counselor so I imagine he helped counsel her.

I would fund a home for homeless Hot Babes.

I think buying lottery tickets are buying hopes and dreams. It makes one feel there is a chance and that's a positive thing, as long as one doesn't go overboard. Thanks for your comment.

Reminds me of when I was working and the only other redhead (hers was dyed red) who worked there won, actually her mother won millions. They were going to take an around the world cruise. Co-workers thought I won. I wish that was true. Some people have more luck than others. Thanks for your comment, Ann.

No, it's to give hope to people. It usually doesn't work out but having dreams are important too. Thanks for your comment, Lulu.

Ahhhh..... If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

I do buy the occasional lottery ticket. I would get a financial advisor and put most of it in safe, no or low risk investments. Can you even imagine the interest that even one million dollars makes!! At 2% the interest would be $20,000. Never mind that with that amount of money you would get a much higher interest rate, and then there's a thing called compounded interest.

*** If you are Canadian and win a lottery here in Canada, the winnings are NOT taxable!! Yippy!!!!

I didn't hear anything shallow. I thought it's great that you thought of 50 friends getting together at your expense. Very nice, Bill. You have a good heart. Thanks for your thoughtful comment.

Our winnings wouldn't be taxable, but I would prefer being taxed at 50% on $400 million, than no tax on $20 million. You're a very practical woman, Rocket. Why not enjoy at least some of the money and save the rest? Thanks for your response.

No I wasn't talking about why the government holds lotteries. I just meant the lotto give hope to others. The government never cares about things like what makes the constituents happy.

A very sensible answer, MySeek, but you DO need to buy a ticket in order to win. Thanks for your comment.

I loved all your choices except the car. Ok, a yellow VW bug, it is. Good luck, Rosie.
