DO YOU MAKE A BIG THING ABOUT YOUR BIRTHDAY?

When I was younger, my mother didn't make a big fuss about our birthdays. The only exception was when I turned 11. I had a surprise party organized by my sister and it was fun. As I've gotten older, I think because I'm not married and have no , I do care about my birthday. It's the only day all year that I feel special. I have to admit that my boyfriend has been pretty good in recent years about Valentine's Day and somewhat about the anniversary of our first date. So, it is a BIT less important to me than it used to be but only a bit. Also, I feel that there are so many bad things going on in the world today so if there's a good reason to celebrate, why not? I should add that I do make a fuss about my friends and family's birthdays.

So, do you make a big deal about your birthday? Anniversary? Mother's Day/Father's Day?

Sorry I haven't been around for a few days. I have been putting up more of my books and you'd be surprised how much work is involved. There are too many formats needed to upload. I still have a ton to do and if I spend all my time here, I'm losing money. That said, I don't want to put all my erotica up at one time so I may be back here like before.

Thanks for your comment, _JKH54. I think on the whole, women tend to care about this things more than men. I may be wrong.

Take me out to eat, a phone call from my daughter and I am satisfied.

Very good, Dan. Sometimes a simple celebration is best.

Usually not but sometimes things present themselves at the right time or someone thinks up a fun joke. I spent a couple of birthdays very, very pregnant. My husband moved in with me on my 40th. I got a tattoo for my 65th and learned to operate a bull dozer for my 69th. There was the year my daughters and in made joke cakes for each other. Mine looked like a used cat box. You just never know in my family.

I celebrate my birthday with my friends. I told them this year that we should forget about presents as I don't need anything and my cupboards are all full. I think we should celebrate the day as who knows how much longer we will be around. I called a friend on her birthday and two weeks later she passed away. Funny enough I didn't always remember to call on her birthday as we aren't close friends. I am so glad that I did this year.

You remind me of my blog post with the 100-year-old skydiving. You're very adventurous. I'm impressed. Thanks for your comment, over22.

Sounds like a fun family. Expect the unexpected. It keeps life interesting. Great answer, Spirit. Thank you.

I'm always rather surprised when my birthday rolls around and I see how biologically old I am!!!

As has been said, I don't particularly like big parties or any gifts. A phone call from family and friends is always appreciated.

It's always the women that have to remind the men. I'm not surprised. Thanks for your comment, Pat.

Thanks for your response, ET. In my family, we don't like a scene at a restaurant either. We take each other out, but we always tell the restaurant that we don't want anyone coming to our table to sing. We have to tell them it's a birthday celebration, otherwise there's a time limit on our seating.

It's nice to get calls from loved ones, knowing they remember. Thanks for your comment, Rocket.

Yes, I guessed it. In a way, that's really a great time to have a birthday. Everyone is in a happy mood and celebrating. You just have twice the reason to feel good. Thanks for your answer, boogie.

I myself, only celebrated my 75th birthday. I thought it was an important date, because after that, I'm living extra time. My dream was to celebrate with my children, grandchildren, my brother (who passed away last January),some close friends from the church and two dear relatives who came from Guatemala.
My best birthday celebrations were when I lived in Guatemala.
Now, I'm happy receiving many phone calls or messages. They make my day.

I think every year is a gift and we shouldn't take time for granted. I'm glad you had a great celebration in Guatemala on your 75th and well wishes on latter birthdays. The important thing is that you feel loved and happy, Lucy. I'm pretty certain you have both.
