DO YOU TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES FOR GRANTED? Do you take your loved ones for granted or do you think they take you for granted? It's easy to do that since we get busy with our own lives and think they'll always be there to turn to.   Elaine Shuel |

To me, taken for granted isn't a positive. Though I never thought of it your way, I must admit. You mean in the way that everyone knows you are there for them. In that way, yes, taken for granted would be good. In my way of thinking, it meant that someone can treat someone the way they want, and know the other person will be there regardless. It means a lack of attention because the person is always there. I take it as a compliment that you were thinking about my post on your dog's walk. If any of my posts gets someone thinking, I consider it a positive, so thank you. Elaine Shuel

In my young years I had to deal with death it seemed too often. I learned not to take people for granted and how one day they were holding your hand and the next they were gone. No I don't take anything for granted. I don't know if people take me for granted or not. I don't dwell on it -- I am there if they want me to be. It's sad the circumstances that led you to not taking others for granted. It is an important lesson to learn. Thanks for your comment.Elaine Shuel

I think most of us fall into that trap, we are together so much that it becomes the norm to just accept that the other person is there and will always be there to do what they always do. I confess that I am guilty of thinking like that. Alfie...

Elaine dear, I really do not take any of my love ones for granted. I love them so much and they love me too, they are a part of my life. Most of all my beloved daughter. Though she is in France, studying and far from me but we can't stay long without talking to each other. And when we do twice a week, we talk for at least 2 hours!!. We talk about everything we can, important issies, as well as trifles and jokes also, just to hear each other during her free times and to spend as much time as we can together. MySeek is it possible that your family would WANT to be there for you? It makes me sad that you are alone when you need help. If they love you, as I'm sure they do, you wouldn't be a burden if you need them. That's what family is about. If you feel good for being there for them, are you sure you want to deprive them of the same positive feelings? Elaine Shuel
