HOW GOOD ARE YOU AT MULTITASKING?

i just read an article by the BBC. Here is a part of it:

"The reason, he observed, was that women were more organised under pressure. "They spent more time thinking at the beginning, whereas men had a slight impulsiveness, they jumped in too quickly," said Prof Laws. "It suggests that - in a stressed and complex situation - women are more able to stop and think about what's going on in front of them." Altogether, they conclude that women "have an advantage over men" in multitasking, at least in certain situations."

My boyfriend has always said that men can't multitask like women. He's an honest man. I think I'm pretty good at multitasking. How about you?

I haven't heard that quote in a long time and always loved it.

Mrs. Joe, I think most women can relate to the second one! Definitely multi tasking!!!

Hi Elaine: I had to work in my parents' busy restaurant after school and really learned to multitask.

Just thinking about me and my ex in the kitchen though, what a huge difference. I could make a breakfast of bacon, eggs, potatoes, toast and coffee and set the table and have everything turning out perfectly in minutes, but it took my husband about half an hour to make something simple like toast and coffee, and even with all the time it took the toast would be burned and the coffee was cold.

That doesn't shock me. It's typical. I think the male brain doesn't function as efficiently. It's not their fault. Thanks bijou.

Oh no!! I just read what Maisie had to say and now I'm worried, lol.

I get into a project here at the house and I think I go deaf as well. My girls will ask, "Mom, didn't you hear me? Time to eat", or something to that affect. I do shut the outside world out when I have a project going, but most of the time it seems like I'm doing ten things at once.

Everyone is like that at one time or another, Rae. You get so involved in whatever you're working on so you don't notice what's going on around you. It's quite human. Thanks for your comment.

Laughing here. I have ADD and did my time as a single mother with a demanding career. Multitasking was the only way we got through it.

Most of my jobs required multitasking and prioritizing. When we hired new staff for some of our stressful positions we would create a "situation" where multiple things, all important, are happening at once and had them describe how they would handle it.

As for the deafness when concentration I find it interesting how we mothers of multiple children can become deaf to the kid noise but instantly react when something changes that tells us something is wrong. Must be another of what Masie described as a carry over from primitive times.

Thanks for your comment, Spirit. I find it interesting that men haven't responded to this post yet. Of course, it did take almost a day for it to show up.

I've found that with aging, multitasking can be dangerous.

I've had a couple of near accidents trying to do too many things at once. Now I try to stop and remind myself to slow down and do one thing at a time.

As the girl who pleasured herself while driving (my most recent post) discovered, it is best not to multitask while on the road. Thanks Rocket.
