Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face And stars fill my dream I'm a traveler of both time and space To be where I have been To sit with elders of the gentle race This world has seldom seen They talk of days for which they sit and wait All will be revealed

I have reached the age that I am not able to cut enough wood for heating the entire winter but our wood shed is full. The wood heater will remain in place. We will be able to stay warm and cook all of our food there. The underground root cellar is full of can goods and etc. . The beginning of life, conception..

Hi Nileyears. Each year as hurricane season arrives I become focused on things I must do to prepare for this possibility. I will say this, if a category 3 ever comes my way I'm outta here. Hurricane Isabel was a multi-billion dollar eye opener for me. It was 4 1/2 miserable days with no power. I'm so reliable on power now I get fidgety in 10 minutes with no power. So I worry about being prepared generally. I follow weather developments closely, act quickly when I believe I might be impacted so I'm not caught up in the chaos. I look after my kids, you know kids. I've learned a few lessons in the past. Once I waited about 30 minutes too long before leaving work. I made it home, but that 30 minutes made the trek a lot harder. But here we are in Mid-August and its time to watch closely again. Many times in the years I've lived here in Virginia Labor Day has been ruined by terrible weather. It's been a few years now with no real trouble, and that's what concerns me. If some darn hurricane disrupts my game I'm gonna be ticked. Hahaha, yep, I know how kids can be, I still look out for mine. You should do a test run to see how prepared you are, take a weekend and shut everything down as if you lost your power and water. Then make a list of what you forgot to take stock of, like batteries for an example, or candles, then get the supplies you forgot before something happens. Hopefully you have another mild hurricane season this year, or you'll be more than ticked off about your game.

Unless you have a generator that has computer chips in it, I doubt you'll have to worry about it working. The push button generators might have a chip, not the pull start. I have horses for transportation, they eat grass, lol, no worries there. I keep a gas supply for the generator. One way to stock up on food is buy a little extra every time you shop, a couple cans of this or that, a case of bottled water all start adding up, that way you don't go broke trying to buy it all at once. Pasta's are good to add to your rice and beans, not the healthiest for us, but they are a good filler food. A lot of people buy Spam, I don't, but maybe I should start.
