Nileyears you have an interesting blog. I loved that movie Dances With Wolves and Kevin Costner who was the main character in it. I remember that horse and he certainly is looking older.

Very interesting road trip. Hubby and I likes to go with some road trips too. As you said travelling in a car is better than going in plane . How many times we went to Kansas driving. We have time to stop to places to take pictures.

That's a very nice place , I hope I can see and visit more states to see natural beauties.

Thank you Nile.

VERY interesting blog! That sounds like a great unexpected stop. Aren't surprises like that fantastic?
You could try posting a second blog with the other pictures....

Really interesting blog......Yes, we Humans have gotten increasingly larger, the knights in shining armour were the size of today's 10 year olds.....A friend's mother who owned a shoe store, says she had to order bigger and bigger shoes. When she started, in the 50's, lots of women's sizes 4 and 5, and she stopped ordering those sizes in the 90s........then in the 2000s, she had to order several pairs of size 12 women's high heels for the new graduating class..........she had never sold size 12 women's shoes before...........

Interesting though.....the Chauvet Cave discovered recently in France, full of cave paintings and bones of long extinct animals, is dated at 40,000 years old and based on many indicators, the scientists say the Humans who decorated the cave were over 6 feet tall........
Thanks Sparkle. Yes, I have read about how small the human race was, I have also read about the bones of giants being found. I noticed shoe size changes and how tall each generation gets just in my own family, that's four generations now.

I'm going to look up Chauvet Cave, sounds really interesting.

Thanks Shartaun! I loved that movie too, can't tell you how many times I've watched it. I had heard that Kevin Costner bought Cisco after the movie was finished, somehow the owners of this ghost town purchased him along with the movie props. I need to research that and find out just for my own curiosity. That horse stole a lot of scenes in that movie.

Thank you and you're welcome Betty. Yes, road trips are great if you aren't in a hurry to get from point A to B. I have actually driven through all 48 states and there is no way I have seen everything yet. So much to see and very little time to see it all. I hope you get a chance to visit the 1880 town on one of your road trips.

Thanks Pat, it was a surprise for sure. My youngest daughter and I did the Route 66 road trip, but she has all the pics on that one. It was fun and we were acting like a couple of kids, lol.

I thought about doing another blog on the ghost town and showing more pics, but I figured this was enough, I posted the better pictures of the town in this one.

Such an interesting blog and photos, Nile. I know I would love rambling around there with my grandson, he would be so excited to see T-Rex. He loves dinosaurs he has all the main guys and knows them all by name.

Dances With Wolves was such a beautiful film, I loved it.

When you consider the story of David and Goliath - David may have been an average man for his times while Goliath was average man for current times.

Thank you Maudie. A lot of the areas inside the buildings were roped off, I guess they didn't want us sitting on those antique chairs, lol, and then some of the breakable items were behind a wired screen and didn't photograph very well, but yes, plenty of things to see there. The T-Rex was maybe a mile, or two from the town's exit, neat advertiser though, it really got my attention. I always liked dinosaurs too.

I just found out yesterday that they have an uncut version of the movie, I think it said it was 5 hours long?

Wow, I had no idea the song was about a real person. Thanks for sharing that ET. Poor kid.

I never did get to see the Bridges of Madison County, only in pictures, nor John Wayne's homestead. So many places and things to visit, I doubt there will be very many more that I get to see. My traveling days have been cut short because of my animals. When my oldest daughter lived here, I could escape sometimes for a month, now I'm lucky if I get 4 hours away from home now.

You should do some blogs on your travels, they sound fun and interesting.

I prefer road trips to flights also, Nile. That must have been a real surprise to find an open-air museum...... Great series of pictures!

I don't like flying at all anymore, I've flown twice since 9/11. I don't like being touched and patted down by strangers. Screw that!

I like that, "Open Air Museum". Pretty much what a ghost town is.
Thanks Myseek, glad you enjoyed the pictures.

I am scared of planes, so I also prefer road trips. Interesting T-Rex metal skeleton.
