The three weeks of taking care of my grandson turned into almost four and a half weeks, not saying I didn't enjoy the company, but I really missed my alone time!

That boy can go on and on about every military tank ever made, he even had me looking up these tanks online so I'd know what he was talking about. Lol, he even tried to convince me to buy one!

I'm not going to miss cooking and cleaning up the kitchen three times a day. My grandson can pack away the food and he stays so slim. I'm also not going to miss my grocery bill and shopping every week to keep the fridge stocked up. I only go to the store twice a month and eat two meals a day normally.

But, I did miss him this morning, it's kind of quiet around here. As always, I'll be waiting for him to say, "Grandma, I'm hungry", or "Grandma, look at this!", or "Grandma, what are we going to work on today?" Takes about a week for me to get used to him not being here.

He is growing to be a fine young man, always polite and wanting to help me in any way he can. He is also trying to convince me to get more chickens, he misses the birds. Something for me to think about, again, but that subject is still up in the air, not sure I want to deal with birds at the moment. He kept reminding me about what great grasshopper catchers they are. True, they keep that population down and out of the garden, but I'm no longer stressing about predators killing my birds either.

I know what I am going to miss the most, his daily hugs.

I'll say a prayer for you. I don't know what my life would be like if my children and grandchildren weren't a part of it.

My daughter who moved to KY, just got her first chickens. I cautioned her that they are a lot of work, and she said "I only got 6 of them". LOL 6 or 60, they still have to be tended and protected.
Now she says their daughter wants a goat. I laugh because I remember all the work that is involved with the farm animals, but also all the rewards.
Glad you had that time with your grandson.

Yep, they are a lot of work! Have to clean that coop everyday, fresh water, bedding and feed. Egg gathering is the easy part. I thought about getting a goat here, but then that would be another animal I'd have to protect from predators. I used to have one years ago, he was a little pygmy goat named Beau. Did you know goats can eat poison ivy and it doesn't make them sick?

Glad I had that time with him too.

Seems like your grandson kept you busy in the kitchen alright, Niles lol. I can well imagine how quiet the house seems now. He sure sounds like a lovely young man.

I'm going to visit my 10 year old grandson in Sweden Friday week, God willing. It's been three long years since I last saw him. So looking forward to seeing him again, can't wait.

Lovely happy blog, Niles.

Yep Rocket, they sure are! When he was little he never stopped until it was bedtime. LOL, now when I think about it, at 15 he still goes and goes until it's bedtime. If only I could steal half of his energy!

Iiit was a very good blog. It seems that you have been very successful although you do not realize it. We raise them to be independent but still wish, just a little, that they would remain close. Give yourself some credit. Don't really know who you are but hopefully it good man.
