Repeat, JIC!
Seriously, I don't sweat! Never have and probably never will.

I have a condition called Anhidrosis which keeps my sweat glands from functioning properly. A few weeks back I learned that I can't push myself as hard as I used to on a hot day.

I was out mowing and when I'm done, I rake up the cut grass, and depending on if it's a grass the horses love, like the Bermuda, I fill up the bucket on the tractor and dump it in the pasture. I've read that giving grass clippings to horses is a bad thing, but there are no chemicals such as fertilizer and insecticides sprayed on my property, so it's safe. They love Bermuda as much as they love alfalfa hay.

Well, that one morning I started a little later than my normal time and by 9:45 AM it was already 93 outside. I started feeling dizzy, my heart was racing out of my chest and I felt like I was on fire. I finished filling the tractor bucket, dumped it over the fence and went into the house to cool down, but I wasn't cooling down.

I grabbed a bottle of cold water from the fridge and stood in front of a fan, it wasn't working so I took a cold shower, which helped a lot, but about 5 minutes after getting out, my body started burning up again. Did I forget to mention the bad headache that went along with all of that?

I know how dangerous this condition is, but I've dealt with it for so long that I think I can handle it. I know it was my fault for not soaking a towel in cold water and placing it over my shoulders and neck, I was running late that morning and didn't stop and take the time and paid for it.

Took me a week to get back to feeling good, but I still have been getting headaches since then. I joke around and tell people my thermostat is broken, which is the best way I know how to describe it. On the brighter side, I don't have to put on a BO blocker, no sweat, no stink!

    Quoting CRAZYHORSE230:
NILE A LEARNED SUGGESTION. KEEP PICKLE JUICE IN FRIDGE. MANY NFL PLAYERS KEEP PICKLE JUICE ON THE SIDELINES.

I SWEAT PROFUSELY. I DDI SUFFER HEAT EXHAUSTION ONCE. IT WAS AFTER M Y DIV AND I WAS HARDLY THINKING STRAIGHT. WORKING TO REPLACE SHINGLES ON M Y HOUSE. I WAS WET FROM SWEAT, CAME IN AND WENT IN MY BEDROOM CLOSED THE DOOR, ROOM GOT COLD. I DRANK WATER FOR 30 MINS. I WENT BACK UP ON THE ROOF, AND SOME 20 MINS LATER STARTED FEELING LETHARGIC, AND DISORIENTED. I WAS WEAK AND NOT STABLE. I CAM DOWN AN TRIED WAITING IT OUT. IT GOT WORSE. SO I CALLED MY DR. HE TOLD ME I WAS SUFFERING HEAT EXHAUSTION AND IF I WENT BACK IN HEAT I COULD EASILY HAVE HEAT STROKE. ALL THIS WAS NEW TO ME. FOR YEARS I HAD WORKED OUT SIDE WHERE I LIVEFD PRIOR TO DIV. OVER 1 AC YARD FRONT, HALF AC BACK. PLUS POOL WORK ETC

IT TOOK ME 3 DAYS TO DRINK WATER TO RECOVER. SINCE. I HAVE GONE BACK TO THE ADVICE MY SON'S FOOTBALL COACH SAID. IF YOU WAIT TILL YOU ARE THIRSTY, YOU ARE ALREADY DEHYDRATED. SO NOW I DRINK WATER PRIOR AN TAKE BREAKS TO DRINK WATER. ANOTHER MISTAKE WAS GOING INTO A COLD ROOM RATHER THAN JUST SHADE AN DRINK WATER. . THE BODY CANT ADJUST TO RAPID, TEMP CHANGES, EVEN HOT TO COLD. SLOWER COOLING IS BEST. YOU DID RIGHT WITH WET CLOTH

I FOUND A DRINK CREATED IN JAPAN., IT IS CALLED THE HANGOVER DRINK

    POCARI SWEAT IS THE NAME.

IT IS SOLD IN SOME STORES BUT I BUY 4 TO 5 12PK CASE FROM AMAZON.

THE KEY YO STAYING HYDRATED IS ELECTROLYTE S. PICKEL JUICE, GATOR AIDE IS OK. I SWEAR BY THE POCARI SWEAT

THE MEDICAL ADVICE IS FREE, A HOME-COOKED MEAL OR AN AFTERNOON OF ADULT BLISS WOULD BE APPRECIATED
Sweating is how the body naturally cools itself down, I don't have that, so it's like a broken thermostat in a car, I'll over heat and have ended up with heat exhaustion a few times. That and heat stroke are my two basic worries on these hot days. While normal people start cooling down, I'm still burning up. Only 2% of the population have this condition, I'm one of those people. Neither of my daughters have this problem, thank God! They will be sweating like crazy and I look as cool as a cucumber on the outside, not one drop of sweat coming off me. I always have water with me outside when it's hot, I also use electrolytes. So, not dehydrated, just no natural cooling system.

Niles it is good you learned to take it easy.
I learned the hard way about the year 2001. I mowed from 7 am until 3:30 pm nonstop without drinking anything. I got off of the tractor & felt a little dizzy but proud of the fact that I mowed the whole place in spite of the heat. LOL

The next morning I woke up & could not stand or walk.----Stroke time!
But I got out of that one in a few weeks. As a result I learned to take breaks and stay hydrated. LOL

Seriously it was caused from playing football in high school where we learned to endure anything and keep going even though we were about to drop.

Be careful out there in all this heat.

This morning another gigantic limb fell out a tree down the street. I have never seen anything like it. Must be global warming.
Party On!

Wow Tx, if I did that, I'd be dead in a couple hours. I've been out there all day mowing, but that's when the temps are still in the 70's. In this heat I have to get out there early, anytime after 10 AM is too late. Really glad you got through that without causing serious damage to yourself.

I don't know if we can call it global warming, or just a typical Texas summer. The last few here in Texas didn't seem as hot as they normally do. This summer is starting to remind me of the summer in 1980 with temps going up to 115, 118 in other parts. Hopefully they don't, 106 is more than hot enough! I had a couple of friends that set up an outside shower that summer so they could keep their trees watered. Not a bad idea, I just might do the same.
