American.....is failing, it had a good run. It is not just us though, the world is failing. I can't even believe we keep anything Nuclear active, especially with all the Nutters we seem to put in charge globally.

Nileyears replies on 10/18/2022 1:42 pm:
Nutters? Perfect! People who lack common sense, or don't quite think things through till the end and it fails. Or, could be people who don't care what the final results are, so yes, NUTTERS fits them well.

Too many crazy things going on right now to keep up with.

Then there is our Texas governor campaigning ----- claiming he is working to lower property tax ----- While he and his guys in Austin have a mandate out for counties to raise property values.
My man cave property value was appraised over 30% higher LAST YEAR.
This year with the Austin mandate it was appraised 107% higher than last year.

WSJ Opinion: Prop. 29 Puts Union Coercion on the California Ballot
The SEIU-UHW forces dialysis clinics to spend big fighting a measure that would hurt patients. 10/17/2022

It is difficult to see how a proposal which mandates that dialysis clinics have
" at least one physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant on-site during all the hours patients receive treatments at that clinic. This individual must have at least six months of experience providing care to kidney patients"

could 'hurt patients'.

Gee, what could go wrong there? Nothing much that I can see. The union isnot 'forcing' clinics to spend lots of money opposing the measure; they are choosing to do so to maintain their profits.

REUTERS: U.S. could sell oil from emergency reserve this week 10/18/2022

Saudi's aren't going to do Biden's biding, Biden won't let us produce enough oil to keep us on our feet much less keep our reserves at max.
"Oct 18 (Reuters) - Oil prices settled lower on Tuesday on fears of higher U.S. supply combined with an economic slowdown and lower Chinese fuel demand.

Brent crude futures settled down $1.59, or 1.7%, to $90.03 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WT crude settled down $2.64, or 3.1%, to $82.82 per barrel." NOTICE HIGHER US PRODUCTION IS DRIVING PRICES LOWER. Looks like you got your comment arse about face Nile.

Hhhhhhmmmm, what could go wrong with that?
Looks like nothing is going wrong with that and US oil production is being ramped up.

JFYI -- Average monthly US crude oil production in 2019 was 12.3 million barrels equivalent. That sank to 11.6 in 2020 , then 11.25 in 2021 (both due to economic slowdown during the pandemic) and is rising this year - averaging 11.6 million barrels per month up to end of August and still rising.

Once again the facts belie what you posted.

Saved the best for last!

Newsweek: Would Nuclear War "Solve" Climate Change? 10/10/2022
This is the headline on a fact check which was instituted on a claim on a Twitter account, not a bloody proposal to launch a nuclear war for the fun of it.

The Fact check conclusion was
"False.

While it is true that even a small nuclear war could have a global cooling effect, it is not correct to say that this would solve the climate crisis.

This is partly because the cooling effects would be temporary, and partly because a nuclear winter would be a climate crisis in and of itself, causing global food shortages and potentially billions of deaths."

Newsweek was not advocating a nuclear war - and neither was anyone else.
Is this a case of reading the headline and not the article so getting only a small and heavily unrepresentative version of the whole thing? YOU BET IT IS.

They want to unionize these clinics and according to those who work there, they don't want to be unionized. What could go wrong? The union calls for a strike and the clinics would be shut down. What happens then when a dialysis patient needs treatments 5 days a week? They die! My son in law had treatments 5 days a week, I know what he went through.

Ramping up oil production? No, better research that one a bit more. The US uses more than being produced. Maybe you better look beyond what your fact checkers are telling you. BTW, prices are going up again, or didn't you notice? If we were producing more, we would see prices going down and the oil reserve filling back up. Neither is happening.

Where does it say that I said Newsweek advocates nuclear war? I didn't say that, you did!

1. You now introduce the 'unionisation' bogey man. Interesting how right wingers are so afraid of unions. Could it be that they want to be able to exploit their workers? You bet it is. Further interest lies in the fact that proposition 29 says nothing about unions.

From Ballotopedia

"California Proposition 29, the Dialysis Clinic Requirements Initiative, is on the ballot in California as an initiated state statute on November 8, 2022.

A "yes" vote supports this ballot initiative to require dialysis clinics to have at least one physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant while patients are being treated; report data on dialysis-related infections; and not discriminate against patients based on the source of payment for care.

A "no" vote opposes this ballot initiative to require dialysis clinics to have at least one physician, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant while patients are being treated; report data on dialysis-related infections; and not discriminate against patients based on the source of payment for care. "

You are the one who needs to do your research

From the EIA site

"The United States was a total petroleum net exporter in 2020 and 2021
In 2021, the United States exported about 8.63 million barrels per day (b/d) and imported about 8.47 million b/d of petroleum, making the United States an annual total petroleum net exporter for the second year in a row for the first time since at least 1949. Total petroleum net exports were about 0.16 million b/d in 2021, and total petroleum net exports in 2020 were 0.63 million b/d."
From the NYTimes 23rd Sept
The price of gasoline continues to fall steadily, easing pressure on American consumers as the cost of filling a tank continued to tumble from record levels reached earlier in the summer.

Gas prices fell 10.6 percent in August, which helped moderate still-sky-high inflation, Tuesday’s Consumer Price Index report showed.

The energy index, which tracks gasoline and electricity among other energy sources, dropped 5 percent last month, as electricity and natural gas prices rose.

After peaking at $5.02 in June, gasoline prices have dropped for 91 straight days, and the national average stood at just over $3.70 a gallon on Tuesday, data from AAA show.

Crude oil prices are going down again as supply continues to keep up with demand.

I repost what I posted above

"Oct 18 (Reuters) - Oil prices settled lower on Tuesday on fears of higher U.S. supply combined with an economic slowdown and lower Chinese fuel demand.

Brent crude futures settled down $1.59, or 1.7%, to $90.03 per barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate ( WTI ) crude settled down $2.64, or 3.1%, to $82.82 per barrel." NOTICE HIGHER US PRODUCTION IS DRIVING PRICES LOWER.
You want to argue with the EIA and the price of oil? Their figures make your assertations look a little foolish don't you think?

You can have your own opinions but you are not allowed to post your own facts.

Nileyears replies on 10/20/2022 6:36 am:
No duh you old fool. Of course gas prices will go down a little bit, it's right before an election and this administration has to look good until the votes are counted. After the elections they will go back up to stick it to the Americans and it doesn't matter whether you are left or right leaning, we will all suffer for it. Biden already said his number one priority is abortion, not the economy. He'd rather slaughter babies!

Unions are not what they used to be. Once upon a time they actually worked! Look at Detroit as an example of what the auto union did. Look at the teachers union now and how they are more concerned with teaching kids garbage than basic reading and math. Kids are graduating HS who can't read past a third grade level.

And another thing, this blog asks, "What could go wrong?" To you, you think nothing could go wrong, so you believe nothing will because you know how to look up facts. Wow, so talented! You know how to Google!

Fact Checkers? LOL, you are so gullible!

So your answer to havingyour nose rubbed in the FACTS is to post an ad hominem and then a load of OPINIONS.

You simply do not have a clue do you?

Typical RWNJ response.

THE FACTS prove that what you posted was nonsense so you deny the facts and go back to sticking your fingers in your ears and singing 'La La La ' at the top of your voice.

You have been proven wrong - no amount o bluster and name calling will alter that.

Nileyears replies on 10/20/2022 5:35 pm:
The facts? The facts are you don't know anything!

You can throw the price per barrel at me and I'll throw the price at the pump at you. BTW, when prices go up at the pump it is an indicator that barrel prices will be going back up in the near future. Flag it you old pompous jerk, prices will be going up in the next few months!

So you can go back to your LALALAND and pretend that your are so much smarter than everyone in the world because you can Google, but you can't remember squat!

Now you really are getting desperate.

All you have left are insults and nonsense.

How can the price at the pump (end user price) influence the price of a barrel of oil (producer price) in the way you aver? That is economically illiterate.
Simple economics dictates that prices to producers are governed by the balance between supply and demand. If demand goes down while supply goes up then prices fall - that is axiomatic. Logically if end user prices rise and that results in a fall in demand because users rein in their sending then prices paid to producers will fall, the very opposite of what you posted. I should not have to school someone so 'wise' in the simplest of economic realities but here we are.

Seems your idea of someone being a 'old pompous jerk ' (ad hominem means you have lost your argument) is that they know more than you.

It seems I do not have to do much to demonstrate that I am smarter than you; your descent into invective and your inability to refute the facts ad even less to interpret them prove that beyond any doubt.

BTW -Google is a search engine which merely aids the user in finding information from the 'library' whch is the internet. Using Google to search out information from reliable sources (eg The Energy Information Administration EIA ) is what research has always been about. Finding reliable, factual evidence from those sources and cross checking the facts (fact checking) is what real researchers do. You should try it sometime then you would not make yourself look so foolish on an open forum.
Eschewing the facts in favour of your anecdotal experience and taking your information from sources which support your confirmation bias is the antithesis of research; but it is, sadly, where we are with so many in the US.

If that sounds pompous to you then diddums. I am sorry to have hurt your feelings, or maybe I am not sorry

Nileyears replies on 10/21/2022 6:30 am:

Do you always post non-sequiturs?

1. You seem to be the one with hurt feelings as you are the one who has now come back twice to insult posts without refuting anything.

2. You are the only one playing the victim. If you feel belittled then that is your problem but it does not entitle you to victim status. After all you are the only one who is name calling.

Do you actally think through what you post or are your feelings too badly hurt for rationality to break through?

I see you still have to get in another childish insult. Not very grown up.
Seems you are not happy about being taken to the cleaners in an argument so you have to descend to kindergaten level yet again.
