Californian problems & other areas.

What's with California on the alert for one thing or another? Oroville dam about to burst not long ago, then I saw a few clips on the Hilina Slump in Hawaii possibly sending a 100 foot high tsunami at 500 miles an hour over to California. Then a clip that plans to evacuate California in case North Korea hits it with missiles on the pretext of natural disasters. (I found that clip a bit far fetched) Another clip on the Hayward Fault on the eastern side of the bay which has more potential to become active than the San Andreas Fault which is also a big a risk. There's the drought problem as well for the farmers, the land sinking under them at an alarming rate because of the lowering water table etc. I guess there's lots that could be added to the list but seems like there's a few problems there. Divine retribution or just having a bad few years?

Just thinking about the land sinking due to the lowering of the water tables, Mexico City has been sinking for years, I think Washington also but not so bad. A multi million dollar building in San Francisco is starting to lean over and they are blaming construction on the other side of the road (which I personally doubt) so land shift problems are rearing up all over. I wonder if all the atomic testing around the world has put fractures in the plates? There's been over 2,000 tests since Hiroshima. Many were in Nevada. The earth has certainly been active this decade.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

YOU KNOW WHAT? I LIVED IN BERKELEY FROM 1960 TO 1964 AND THE PREDICTIONS WERE VERY MUCH THE SAME AS THOSE YOU MENTION. NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN REALLY SO JUST GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE, HOPE FOR THE BEST AND PREPARE FOR THE WORST.

I have begged my daughter for years to leave CA before it slides into the ocean. Teasing her, but with a little serious concern too.
It appears the whole world is groaning, doesn't it?

I am a Native California transplanted in West Virginia. I heard stories about California about to fall into the ocean - all my life.

Abracadabra

Yeah, that's the reality. One day at a time.

It sure is, just saw the news on Guatemala today. It's happening everywhere.

You're dead right about dancing on the precipice for decades, both environmentally and politically. I was there in 1980, talk then was about 'the big one'. I 'google walked' the streets of San Francisco about 6 months ago, it was so different. I hardly recognised any buildings where I stayed, all rebuilt. Politically it's a mess. It's always been radical but being radical doesnt pay the bills.

I'm not sure fracking causes disturbances in an earthquake sense but it definitely is very bad for the environment, water systems etc. I've seen gas coming out of a river near where they were fracking and some guys lit it. The river was on fire. So how much of this stuff escapes into the atmosphere? They complain about carbon and go and do this. Crazy.

It's a wait and see it seems. Sky is falling scenario? May happen may not, but it seems to put people on edge.

I suppose it could be a self fueling panic merchant scenario to keep the headlines rolling though it seems to have some facts to support it.

Hi and bye to you also.

Over here they are fracking in places as well. Farmers are not happy about it at all.

Yes that's true, it is a big state. While traveling the States I spent some time there. I found it a nice place while visiting. Not sure what it would be like living there but I enjoyed the cultural side of it. I could listen to live music of any genre, just pick a venue and go there. It's not like that here where I live unfortunately. It has some great coastline as well.
