Congressional Costs

Have you ever wondered what it actually cost us taxpayers to keep these clowns and frauds in such high clover...along with the few decent human beings who we pay to represent us. These figures are based on a report issued this past January by the Congressional Research Service, titled Congressional Salaries and Allowances, available as a Federal Government pub to anyone who asks for it, "news" media stars and common people alike.

My numbers are LOW, incomplete and very basic, but give a rough idea what we are paying these people and what we are paying for their comfort and convenience. I did NOT include the various higher paid offices - Speaker, President Pro Tem, etc, just the base salary for all members, House and Senate...

Here are the VERY basic costs - for each of the 535 members of Congress as well as the total amounts and total total...

Base Salary for each member $174,000

Office and Staff allowance, per member (avg) $1,353, 205

Expenses, per member $256,574

Total base salary $93,090,000

Total offices and staff (Basic) $573,900,000

Total expenses, basic $137,267,090

Total combined for ALL Congress $804,247,090

I apologize in advance if my math is off...and remember this is just base salaries and expenses. ALL members also get Federal Civil Service perks, including health insurance for them and their families (their choice of several programs), retirement benefits, and life insurance. ALL members must participate in Social Security, and all members must participate in the Affordable Care Act.

Based on the numbers above, EACH member of Congress receives $1,503,265.59 per year.

Please recall their very small number of working days, long weekends and other perks. Understand we also pay for their offices and staff in their home states and districts, along with all the benefits and perks of every staff member of every legislator.

Something to ponder.
Have a good day

Article from the Daily Kos 2013

As you can see these numbers are from 2013, Imagine what they are now.

When in fact, more than half of them are millionaires.

OMG that is one huge expense for taxpayers. Then there's the President and all his staff and expenses to pay, plus 100 Senators, plus all the State and Municipal employees.

The number 535 includes the Senators. As is not reported very often President Trump donates his salary to charity. He has donated his 3rd quarter salary to HHS opioid efforts.

There is an interesting publication titled " Life in Congress: Aligning Work and Life in the U.S. House and Senate."

It's way too long to post here; you may wish to download and read it.

And recently they were saying that they needed a raise....that they could not live on $174,000 per year.

But... that's why Trump gave them all a nice fat tax bonus by taking it from people living on less than a liveable income, isn't it? If politicians can't live on more than $100,000 dollars per year...how do the think "we the people" live on $47,000 or much less?

And yet, you still idolize him!

I see you have bought into the Democrats number 1 lie. A Tax Policy Center analysis of the Senate bill reveals that three-quarters of all families would get a tax cut. Just 12 percent would see a tax increase — and they are concentrated among the rich.
The bottom 80 percent of families currently pay 33 percent of all combined federal taxes, yet would get 37 percent of the tax cuts. By contrast, the top 1 percent currently pays 27 percent of all federal taxes but would get just 18 percent of the tax cuts.
There are a lot more Democrat LIES but space will not allow for them.

When in office they do influence peddling and get paid for that through campaign donations or brother-in-law business deals. PLUS pay direct for speaking to corporate employees. No they do not take bribes.

A rich person can make 20 million and pay tax on only 70 thousand or whatever amount he chooses of the twenty million. 19 million + an be tax free
That is why Trump will not show his taxes. People would be asking how can he pay so little.
Commercial real estate people know how to do it.----very simple----but average guys can not do it so they do not understand.

I don't know where you got the idea that I idolize him.......you are wrong about that. I wanted a change from Obama and I am glad that we got that. That is not saying that I agree with every thing that Trump says or does but I will still stand for him over Obama. That is my right....

You must have missed Rachels big show when she had his Tax return from 2005. It showed he paid $38 million in taxes.
