SCIENCE ACCORDING TO MARBELLA......

I've read many reports of how who are either home-schooled by Christian parents or Christian schools are deprived of a Science education.......but I didn't realize how bad it was until I read today's Marbella blog......Someone whose entire education's focus was apparently to come up with an allegory to fit any bible passage.....embarrassingly tortured allegory, but.......

Here's how Marbella explains colour-theory...
"In the seventeenth century, Sir Isaac Newton used a prism to study how light helps us see different colors. He found that when light passes through an object, the object appears to possess a specific color. While a single ice crystal looks translucent, snow is made up of many ice crystals smashed together. When light passes through all of the crystals, snow appears to be white".......

In the same blog she says that Jesus was "blameless" in God's eyes.....Well Duh, they are one being according to their book.....By the way, have you ever asked a fervent bible-believer how the "trinity" works?.......

And as he lets himself die he asks himself why he has forsaken himself.

Today I read an article about the sad death of a 13-year-old girl because the parents, strong orthodox Christians, prayed to God for help instead of believing in science and taking her to a hospital. The father of the girl is a missionary and preacher. The girl's pancreatitis could have been treated, and she would be alive if......
Today a court in Austria convicted the parents and condemned them to a 5-year prison sentence.

Yes....I have 2 sisters who are Jehovah Witness....they each have 4 children....They have ever-changing rules about how they are allowed to have contact with non-JW family members, but sent me boxes of JW literature. They attended the funeral of my baby daughter though, and accused me of not loving her, because if I did, I would become a JW so I could be with her in Paradise.......The lengths people will go to for religion........Fortunately for my sister's families, none of their children needed blood transfusions to save their lives, because they refuse them, believing that the Bible forbids it.....

"No Religion" is now the default in Western Europe.....75-90% among young adults....Here in Western Canada it's similar. In BC, the fastest growing religious affiliation is "no religion", but Sikh, Hindu and Islam are close behind, ......We have a lot of Asian immigrants......makes things interesting.

When I think of Jehovah Wittness, I remember a story my late husband told me years ago. He had an art studio in NJ out in the country. One day he heard a knock at the door - it was a JW couple with their 16 or 17-year.old daughter. The man introduced himself as a preacher and wanted to talk about God. Joe told him that he was not interested in lectures but the beautiful daughter would make a good model for a nude painting. The man grabbed the two women and ran away as though he had just seen the devil. LOL

Yes, the evil spectre of nudity works well to send them running for the hills......I have used it myself very successfully.

That year my son was away all Summer, Just after he left, I opened the window in his upstairs room an inch or so for ventilation and shut the door.2 months later, I kept thinking I heard an odd humming. When I investigated, I found a huge wasp's nest hanging from the ceiling......I went to the store and bought a can of Raid, hauled a stepladder up there and proceeded to spray the nest.......then I hauled the ladder back downstairs and hauled the vacuum-cleaner up there. There was a squirming mass of dead and dying wasps in the middle of the floor and I proceeded to vacuum them up.......Stupidly, I stepped right under the nest, and I felt wasps falling on my head, into my long hair and into my loose blouse......I had enough experience with wasps to know this was the prime situation for getting stung.

I immediately discarded all my clothing, and ran downstairs screaming, my head bent down while I madly swatted at my hair.........

At the bottom of the stairs the door was open to the late Summer sun and on the landing stood a whole family of JWs proffering pamphlets. They turned and ran to their car......

Ironically, my sister-in-law is a JW and we get along great. She knows that I am a Quaker and we find the common ground and just don't "go there" about the difference.
Apparently there are different sects among the JWs......They have many rules about who they can fraternize with and about "witnessing".....The sect my sisters belong to doen't allow them to fraternize with non-JW family members or anyone, including family members who have left the fold. Apparently your sister-in-law belongs to some fringe element that doesn't follow the Watchtower rules.
