I went on one of my favourite walks today......Through the community recreation complex that includes children's playgrounds, a daycare , a beautiful main building with a log post and beam structure and stained glass windows, an auditorium with a stage and green-room and a professional grade kitchen.....plus offices and many meeting rooms ....There is a Tennis Court, baseball and soccer fields, horse rings, an awesome skate-park, a bike jumping course, hundreds of acres of forest with walking and biking paths, a lake ......all a ten minute walk from my house........Most of it is closed now.......the Tennis court, the skate park and the walking trails are open......

Today was really windy, so I didn't go all the way to the lake because I would have to walk through several acres of big Alder trees that were swaying and groaning and just as I entered the grove, a huge limb came crashing down ......The only people I encountered were two guys and their dogs and one of my grandson's friends on his bicycle with his skate-board tied behind him and leaving a wake of Axe body spray ......so cute.....14 year old boys....

Your pictures brought tears to my eyes as I have no place like that to walk, or should I say that I am able to walk with safety due to my knees. I inhaled deeply and could smell the aroma of nature..... or what I imagined it smelled like. I particularly liked that gnarled tree trunk.
I do enjoy when you post lovely things like this, that shares your day with us.

You are lucky to have such a beautiful walk. I love the foxgloves and daisies. Bright cold and windy here in Dublin today. I might venture out later for a walk in the park.

I'm sorry about your knees.....I keep seeing ads for a contraption that you can wear that strengthens the knees......I know a lot of senior who have had knee surgery with great success.

The gnarled tree-trunk.....A huge Maple.....known as "The Maple Tree".....In the end of February, the trunk is surrounded by a carpet of snow-drops....It's impossible to get a photo of the whole tree, because if you are far enough away, there are trees in the way in every direction........When I worked at the Daycare, I worked with the pre-schoolers in the morning, then I went to a separate building where I ran the after-school program......I often took a group of children for a walk and The Maple Tree was often our destination. We would sit under it and eat a snack......On the way back some kids would invariably get tired and out of sorts and I distracted them by singing songs they all knew.....Our favourite was the one about eating an apple with a worm in it....A fuzzy worm, a wuzzy worm, a great big fat juicy worm.......we added new verses to fit he occasion......They were very dramatic when describing the worm.........LOL

OK, now I remember all the words to the fuzzy wuzzy worm song and why the kids liked it so much.....It was a mini-musical drama......

Oh Lulu ate an apple, an apple, an apple
Ohhh Lulu ate an apple with a big worm inside.....
A fuzzy worm, a wuzzy worm, a great big fat juicy worm,
Ohhh, Lulu ate an apple with a big worm inside.

Then Lulu got a tummy-ache, a tummy-ache, a tummy-ache,
Thenn Lulu got a tummy-ache with a big worm inside.

chorus

Then Lulu had a poo poo, a poo poo, a poo poo
Then Lulu had a poo poo with a big worm inside.

chorus

Then Lulu felt all better, all better, all better,
then Lulu felt all better with No worm inside.
No fuzzy worm, no wuzzy worm, no great big fat juicy worm
Then Lulu felt all better with NO worm inside.

Then a child would yell ME ME ME......and we would start the song again using their name.....etc etc.......

These beautiful pictures of the environment where you live remind me of the hills and woods where I have my home in Germany. The path through the woods winds down to an old watermill. The building has been renovated and harbors a country restaurant and a small hotel. We used to enjoy sitting outside on the terrace with coffee and cake or having dinner after a long walk. A week ago my family spent a few days in my home and my daughter told me that a large area of wooded land has been deforested for 30 turbine mills. And at the village barbecue site a 5G pylon has been erected against the will of the people. It makes me sad when I think about such serious interference with nature.

I LOVE IT!!!!!! Reminds me of some of the silly little songs we used to sing, often on the bus we rode on our school trips, or even just sitting on the playground. Now you have me trying to remember some of those songs and the words!

That is really sad.....We Humans seem to be OK with sacrificing most of Nature for convenience.....

Of course, the songs of my early childhood were in Norwegian....I sang them to my children and grandchildren and told them what they meant, but they lost most of their character in translation.......My father sang a lot of silly songs and danced around....He sang this one song, usually when my mother was cooking....It's a comical love song,, about a man who wants his wife to dance with him when she is busy in the kitchen......He compares her to a flower on the windowsill and she slaps him away and he keeps bothering her and promises that if she gives him a kiss and lets him twirl her around the kitchen, he won't complain if his sausage is burnt.. My mother played the Balalaika and the two of them sang many silly songs together......they actually met in a church choir in Oslo.....

I love your majestic northern woods...we go walking on one of the many trails by our favorite river here, but it’s different somehow.

Yes, every place is different......different climate, different soils, different land configurations.....Here we are in a rain-forest...a small island surrounded by salt water......
