TBT ....ANOTHER MURAL    |

I came across these photos yesterday in an old flash-drive. It was a really fun project.....a bedroom for a 12 year old girl. I had an interview with her.....She wanted each wall to represent one of the 4 elements, Earth, Air, Fire and Water. She had designated the walls already. I asked her to do drawing of what she wanted and went back a few days later and toured her room with her and we had a conversation about the possibilities. The Earth wall would have her bed/desk setup.....it had a platform bed, like a top bunk with a desk area beneath it......the Air wall had a jog in it and the door... The Fire wall had a pretty big window, the Water wall was a large expanse across from her bed and included a folding door of her walk-in closet. Unfortunately, the flash-drive only had these 3 photo of the mural..... the first photo is part of the Earth wall......the brownish part is where the bed will be .......I painted the ceiling indigo and installed a galaxy of fluorescent stars and planets.........you can see part of the Air wall. The second photo shows part of the Air wall and the blending I did.....I used areas and blendings using a white Pearlescent paint, which doesn't really show up in the photo, but which changed with the light...... The third photo is a different part of the Earth wall...... On the Fire Wall, I did a flames licking up the wall and around the window...... The Water wall was the most fun for me.....I painted it to look like you were on shore looking out on the ocean a if you were standing on a beach with big waves rolling towards you.......That was so much fun to create......It was 15 years ago.....

What a fun room that would be...... at any age! I've seen curtains that are like murals that show outdoor scenes through open doors. I've thought I would like those, or a painting on the wall. I have shower curtains that are like huge paintings.... one is a stream with a waterfall, another is a field of sunflowers. Oh, I just remembered a childhood friend who had a crack in the plaster in her room. She painted a tree that covered the whole wall area, incorporating and concealing the crack. I admire your talent. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I had pretty much given up on commissions at that point, but her wealthy, absent father offered me more money than I could say no to.......That girl is now married and a mother to a sweet little girl of her own.... At one time, I accepted commissions for art work, but I got really fed up with it because people don't know what they want. They expected me to guess what they wanted and expected me to spend hours creating illustrations of what they might like based on vague descriptions and then they would say no, not what I want and not tell me what they did want and they expected this process to continue until I produced something they liked.......and they expected me to produce these samples for free.....Hours of work......and they didn't have the imagination or willingness to visualize the finished product from a sketch and a description......they wanted an exact replication of the finished product....then the would reject it and send me back to the drawing board without any more instructions...and they expected that process to be free. It drove me mad. Once I painted a whole mural in someone's house....took me many hours of planning until the client approved the mock-up.....many dollars in paint, a week of painting, much of it on a ladder, and the client watched my progress.......and when it was done, he said he had changed his mind and wanted something that would require several more days of work and expected the price for the finished product to stay the same. One guy, a Psychotherapist who had decided to make a series of CDs that would help people relax, quit smoking, quit drinking, lose weight etc......He had a contract for 6 of them and wanted me to design the covers, including a logo.....I made an appointment to discuss what he wanted......He had no idea....I tried to come at it from many angles.....What image of yourself do you want to project? .I brought samples....Colours? Shapes? styles? ..Fonts? Placement? ..He had no opinions, ideas or desires...nothing.....So I went home and spent hours doing mock-ups, went back , he didn't like any of them but had no suggestions, I went home, more mock-ups.....nope......They expected me to read their ffing minds.... I gave up on commissions....

I have never attempted to make a living selling art, but I have supplemented my income that way all my adult life. I have often had deals with restaurants, doctor and dentist offices etc...I hang my work on their walls with contact information.....they get original art for a time for free.......The Summer tourist season is when most of it is sold. Once I had just finished hanging 35 paintings in a strategically situated restaurant jut the week before. I just happened to be in that town that day and I walked past the restaurant and saw, to my horror, that it had been closed by the commissioner......I phoned the number on the door....it was the landlord and I found out the owner of the restaurant had gone bankrupt and the landlord now owned everything in that restaurant....including my paintings......I had to get a lawyer and prove that those paintings belonged to me......It wasn't solved until tourist season was over, but I finally got my painting back........ Another time, I had several paintings in a town a couple of hours away....I knew the owner.....we had worked at a music festival together several times......One evening after my paintings had been in there for a couple of weeks, he phoned me to tell me that a doctor, a general surgeon, really liked one of my paintings and would probably phone me soon and offer to buy the painting for much less than my posted price. He wanted me to know that the guy was a doctor and could well afford the asking price but was known as a cheapskate jerk....... So the surgeon phones me a couple of hours later and arrogantly offers me a fraction of my asking price and when I ay no, he argues with me....and I told him my price wasn't open to negotiation and he kept at me until I asked him in a pissed-off tone if he dickered for appendectomies? and hung up on him......20 minute later, the restaurant owner phoned me back and aid the doctor had bought the painting.......We laughed...... ..

I always wanted to be an artist but I am not very artistic. I know a lady who years ago took up art classes after she retired and a couple of years later she was having art showings. She said she never knew she any artistic ability until she took art lessons. Your murals are really cool and the story behind them is interesting.

THE LADY SAYS YES WHY?? HER COMPANION SAYS HER. THAT IS NOT A REAL LADY. THAT IS A TRANSSEXUAL MAN.!!! IN CASE ANY ONE READING THIS FAILS UNDERSTAND THIS. THE ' LADY" NOW REVEALED AS A TRANSSEXULA MAN. HASA DIC HEWAS BORN WITH A DIC HE LIEK MANY THAT SEEM LOSE TRACK WHAT PARTS THEY WERE BORN WITH. HAS DECIDED THAT HE IS NOW A WOMAN.. FEMALE WITH NO VJ . ALL LADIES HERE, BY THAT I MEAN REAL LADIES HERE. NOT ONES WITH FAKE IDS LIKE CP AN LULU ETC. THINK HOW U WOULD FEEL. U WERE IN A VERY VULNERABLE SITUATION, A ROOM WITH A MAN DRESSED LIKE A LADY, TAKING CARE OF HUMAN ACTIVITIES. AKA, PEEING! IT IS CALLED NOT SUBJECTING URSELF TO THINGS OR WORDS THAT OFFEND OR OTHERWISE CAUSE U TO BE UPSET OR UNHAPPY. SAY THANK YOU HANK FOR EXPLAINING HOW I CAN KEEP FROM BEING BOTHERED. SEE HOW SWEET I AM

FOR 6 YEARS AFTERWARDS, SHE FOLLOWED ME AROUND WITH A MATTRESS ON HER BACK.. THE ONLY REASON SHE STOPPED WAS SHE SOLD TEH MATTRESS FOR FOOD
