Came across this today as I was looking for inspiration after becoming v frustrated with a painting I'm working on......I love the luminescent quality she achieved using digital tools.

I'm very frustrated these days by my deteriorating ability to control my hand.....I used to have perfect control......Now my hand jitters and shakes......Not so much that it's visible by watching my hand, but enough that it I can't achieve a smooth line......I'm learning how to compensate to a certain extent, but I can't really tell how it will affect my work until I actually do it.......I design my projects based on past experience and am continually frustrated because past experience no longer applies......every day is a brand new reality...........

I took some lessons in digital art 10 years ago and have questioned artists I know who work in the medium, but when I tried it, I didn't enjoy it at all....It seemed so sterile...without the tactile and gestural aspects I enjoy about art-making.....I would have to spend a few thousand dollars to set up......

What frustrates you about your aging body?

What an interesting and intriguing use of colors and light that digital method produced.
What frustrates me about my aging body is the inconsistency of abilities and ailments. One day, I can do something and be quite productive, and then suddenly it's like a switch is flipped and I can't. For instance, I can walk out to the mailbox, or a ways down the road with no problems and not even a limp, and the next day or a few hours later, it's like my knees won't let me walk around in the house. Or I might get up in the morning, and the joints in my feet make me hobble and almost fall.... and the next day or a while later, I'm walking fine.
One day it's one thing, and then it's another, and I hate to even complain because it seems like there is always something wrong. Then I see others who are FAR worse than me, and I feel bad for complaining.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Wow, beautiful so bright and colourful. I hate not having as much energy as I used to have, I was always on the go doing something or other, less pain and stiffness would be good too.

Boy can I relate to frustration. I am very fortunate to be in far better health than most my age of 70. But, while my mind is still 40 my body is not. I really need cataract surgery soon. I qualify but lost my glasses at Christmas and had to replace. I should have gotten the surgery right then. I postponed over concern for COVID and spent 400.00 to replace those glasses. The surgery will require a completely new prescription. So I guess I'm just trying to control cost at this point. But I can't see waiting too much longer.

I wish I could say that was the end of the frustration but its not. I'm a walker, a daily walker. I walk between 40 and 50 miles a week. A couple years ago my doctor informed me that I needed to wear a good quality running tennis shoe and that would be my life going forward given bone spurs in my big toe. I can't imagine not being able to be active. Were it not for her advice I might be walking with a cane today. But I'm hanging in there so far. The stupid tennis shoes cost over 150.00 a pair. I just wish the sore joints were not becoming struggles elsewhere. As long as I'm active I am managing, struggling, but managing. When I'm not active my joints begin to hurt pretty quickly.

I really shouldn't be complaining because I really am in good overall health. I just want to feel like I did at 40 and that was 30 years ago now. I strained my back 2 weeks ago and now that's annoying me.

I know it sounds like whining and I suppose it is. it's just frustration like you said.

WHAT IRRITATES ME MOST IS THE LOSS OF MUSCLE AND THE HANGING SKIN. ALSO THAT I HAVE TO CUT MY EXERCISE ROUTINES IN HALF ON THE GROUND AND IN THE POOL. I HAVE NOTICED MY HANDS SHAKE A LITTLE WHEN I TURN THE PAGES OF THE NEWSPAPER BUT THAT SEEMS TO AFFECT MOST PEOPLE MY AGE. I GUESS THAT IS THE PRICE WE PAY FOR SURVIVING.

I hear you Maudie......One of my favourite things to do used to be white-water kayaking.......It really made me feel alive.......Can't do it anymore......don't have the strength to fight the current.....I wrote a poem back then called White Water Woman.....I should try and find it, might at trigger some memories of what it was like.....

My frustration has been not being able to walk. I used to enjoy a lot walking when we went to a place somewhere outside the city ...

I meant to get back to this blog. I really like the digital artwork created by the artist above. Digital art was part of the visual arts course I did - like you, it didn't do much for me either even though stunning visual effects can be created.

I'm sorry to hear you're losing your ability to control your hand (specifically, fine motor movements I take it? ). Learning to use your left hand will have your brain's neurons lighting up like a Christmas tree - apparently, learning a new task stimulates/activates the neurons which is good news I would think. Recently, when I overdid things and very tired, I noticed my left hand noticeably trembling while holding the phone. I was perturbed as I usually have steady hands - thankfully the trembling passed. I'm sorry your scoliosis is giving you so much intermittent back pain. As often quoted by Alfie/Hawkslayer, 'growing old isn't for sissies' seems to ring true. Wrinklies unite!
