That's a photo of a pencil-crayon drawing I did in 06 of local wild berry species.....I've wondered all this time what that business in the middle is, but today when i was picking raspberries, I realized that it's about the happiness I feel when I'm picking.......It's such a deeply primal satisfaction.....I also dug a double handful of baby potatoes and carrots and peas for my supper......The sky is so blue today, with clouds like downy feathers.....I recently discovered a small local dairy.....the cows are grass fed, no hormones......and the yogurt is un-homogenized whole milk .....They let the cream rise to the top.....That sounds like a perfect Supper to me.....

They would probably be cheaper to pick yourself as I noticed at my local vegetable place they are $4.99 per kg. That is an outrageous price. But I heard that local produce was going to be higher in price this summer. I have been buying California blueberries and they are much better priced.

There is that talent again, beautifully displayed.
We are enjoying several kinds of fresh fruits right now, both from the store and an outdoors fruit and veggie stand. We really like the sweet cherries, but their price is rather steep this year, so we have only bought them a few times.

Ah yes....The cherries.....my daughter just brought me some. In Norwegian, The word for cherries sounds very close to Kiss-Berries.....So we played this game where the girls put cherry juice on their lips and chased the boys and kissed them on the face....Adults played the game too..

When I was in my 20's, sailing the coast with my fiance, we tied up one day next to a beautiful wooden West Coast commercial salmon troller.....the captain was in his 60's.....brought us a nice chunk of salmon for our supper and I noticed his Norwegian accent. Next day my fiance and I went to visit some friends ashore who gave us huge Bing cherries from their tree.....back at the dock, I brought a bowl of cherries to the old fisherman. I told him in Norwegian that I had brought him some kiss-berries and I bit one, put the juice on my lips and gave him a big smackeroo on the cheek.....He started, stopped for a couple of beats and then teared up and then laughed and I laughed ......It was glorious......when I went back to our boat, my fiance asked me what we were laughing so uproariously about, but it really wasn"t translateable>>>>

In the 60s we would have 42 (domino) parties almost every weekend.
On one particular weekend I went out, milked the cow & the wife made the groups preferred banana ice cream to serve at intermission.
When it came time to serve the ice cream we all gathered around the large table with their ice cream but suddenly everyone quit eating it. LOL
It was so bitter it was impossible to eat. Everyone was silent because they didn't want to be FIRST to say it was terrible & offend my wife. LOL
Finally she said I don't know what I did wrong--it was the same way I have made it for years. LOL
After about an hour we figured out Old Betsy (the milk cow) had chowed down on too many young tender broom weeds and the raw milk messed up our party .LOL

That's really interesting......Early in our marriage, my husband and I spent a year at a Small Holdings Agriculture school. He focused on growing plants and I focused on the dairy aspect.....I learned Cow and Goat husbandry. This was in an area where broom is an invasive species.

I took cows and goats to wild pasture and the only plant I was told to not allow them to eat was broom...especially when it was in flower. The cows were never much interested in the broom, but the goats would be very attracted to the broom when it was in flower and ate quite a bit before I drove them away, but there was never any complaints about bitter milk.......We made yogurt, cheese, butter, and other products.....What time of year was it when you had that bitter milk?

Sparkle it was early spring when the broom weeds were about half maximum height. Normally cows will not eat them but this cow had no choice. We had leased an older home just outside of town with about 10 acres of weak worn out farmland land that would only grow weeds.
Funny how things trigger memories. I remember sitting in the living room of that old house & watching Jack Ruby walk up into the police station and Shoot Lee Harvey Oswald.
I had just told my wife that many people would want to kill him but it was one of those things I knew would not happen. But it did & I was real time witness.

Fast forward to the present. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would witness the President Of The United States try to overthrow our government. But I am witness to it.

Even more startling is the idiots in charge have no clue what should be done with a treasonous person who leads an insurrection. They want the people who took part in the insurrection!

In most nations an example would be set to insure it would never ever happen again.

Our nation is so weak & corrupt it is unbelievable. But HEY I go dancing tonight. LOL
Our motto IN GOD WE TRUST keeps us safe and provides sanctuary. LOLOL
It's all good!
Party On!

ADD----they want the VOTE of the people who took part in the insurrection or think it was proper.
Sooo it is open season. It will happen again.

Sparkle
Here we always had to be careful to not let the cows out in a pasture with clover at certain times of the year.
If there was early morning dew on the clover & they ate it they might bloat---lay down & die.
When a cow got down a hose must be inserted the mouth into the stomach & apply soapy water. LOL
No Hose & soap? You take out the trusted pocket knife & stab the cow in the tummy to relieve the pressure. Like piercing a balloon. LOL
Also stand clear LOL
They could then get up & walk away-----much better than dying.

Drench the nanny goats & feed 1/3 LB shelled corn each day for about 16 days before turning the billys out with them and a high number of them would have twins.
Due to the upswing in weight gain at breeding time.
Texas goat husbandry. LOL
Party On!
