The Dark Crystal was my favourite movie ......except maybe for Smoke Signals......Remember the Sketses in Dark Crystal?......The evil monsters who ran the country......Well, after seeing Biden's recent speech and then MConnal's response.....I totally got the Sketses vibe.......I mean, look at those old freaks.....they might as well have been cos-playing Dark Crystal scenes.....what a couple of self-important. disgusting, way past their sell-by-date freaks.........

I didn't see those movies, but these creatures make me think of the turkey vultures in our area...... hmm, which also might be an appropriate descriptions of those you described.

Oh Pat, you've gotta see Dark Crystal.....came out in 1982.....Jim Henson, the man responsible for the Muppets directed it......I've watched hours of footage of the making of Dark Crystal.......It's all puppets.....There is lots of fandom stuff online.....I don't know about Smoke Signals though, you might have to be Canadian to appreciate that......

It sounds like a Piers Anthony fantasy novel. I was commenting to my older son about how he got me hooked on Piers Anthony novels and my son reminded me that I stuck some of the books in his Easter Basket when he was a youngster. He loved them too.

Sparkle, wasn't Smoke Signals about indigenous people that venture out of their culture to experience other traditions? If so, it was an excellent movie and applies to the Navajo and Pueblos here in New Mexico.

Hi Boogie......The movie was a dark comedy about a young Indigenous man and his friend that go on a journey.......It stars several Canadian First Nations comedians from the CBC comedy program "Dead Dog Cafe".....which I listened to religiously and made me laugh until my face hurt and the tears rolled.......

I read a synopsis of it, and not sure if I would like it or not. If I come across it sometime, I would watch it and see.

I try to stay away from politics, but I do love Dark Crystal.
I live in a country founded by men who belittled women, owned slaves, and preached equality for all..........shaky at best. Like the skeksies I think all politicians begin as the purer more holistic half and become the tainted skeksies.....it is a toxic realm.

I loved the Muppets show, we watched it every week, great fun. Dark Crystal sounds like a fun movie too. I must check it out.
