Taken by a friend ......Big tides this time of year...A big reef accessible on foot.....A kayak or mall rowboat is the best for reef viewing.......

Great pictures

I used to see these creatures when I lived on the coast. It makes me long for Florida especially with all the snow. Beautiful photos. What a great adventure walking or canoeing along the reef.

The purple starfish are my favourite......When you paddle along the shore, there are always masses of them to be seen at lower tides......For years I signed all my work with a purple starfish.....A friend carved me a stamp.......When I first came to this site, I called myself "Starphysh"....and I got a lot of flack for it.......

YESTERDAY I WENT ON A NATURE WALK WITH A GEOLOGIST GUIDE WHO SHOWED US CALCARIOUS ROCKS FORMED BY SEA CREATURES AMONG WHICH CORALS. THIS WHOLE REGION WAS PUSHED UP FROM THE SEA BY QUAKES AND MANY ROCKS CONTAIN FOSSILS OF SEA CREATURES. THANKS FOR THE LOVELY PHOTOS.

It is so amazing.....When our children were small, we lived right on the beach and there was a reef right below the house ......I have photos of them as toddlers playing in the tide-pools.......At 2-4 years old, my son's favourite game was to catch tide-pool Sculpins with his hands and move them from one pool to another.....that and looking under rocks for small crabs........
