Nothing better than a back yard pile of dirt to play in...

I love this picture, and it so describes the only Y word I was thinking of, and that is Yearning. Yearning for the days when our kids were little like this...... they would be playing just like your little one. I love his curls and total concentration on the task at hand. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I sing the songs to myself walking in the woods.........singing to yourself just doesn't satisfy the same way.....and people look at you funny...I used to take the daycare and after-school kids on the same paths and we sang one of those endless songs about eating an apple with a great big fat fuzzy wuzzy worm inside and when we finished all the verses we would repeat the same song using a different child's name ...they all had to have a turn....It also distracted them from their tired legs....

I had Blue & Grey War Between the States soldiers.... Still do tucked in the attic that may get drug out some day.. My grandmother gave me two sets and a huge sandbox to play in. and more wooden blocks than anyone else.

Your photo today reminds me so much of my childhood. That is all we did was play in the dirt me and my brothers and sisters. We couldn't wait for spring to come when we didn't have to wear shoes and we could run around barefoot. Love the photo of the little guy with the beautiful blond curls.

I know watcha mean...I wish I had more photos of my children, but we lived so isolated and I purchased film by mail and had them developed by mail...The mail came once a week by float plane...I grew up learning how to develop photos in my father's dark-room and was in the photography club at school that had a dark room When I was in my 20s, I did a lot of nude modelling for photographers and artists and was involved in the development as well.....Mostly artsy experimental stuff...One guy painted flowers on my body and did a photo shoot at one of the UBC gardens...we had planted look-outs...So much fun.

I have a friend in her 80s who heard a local singer use a yodel in a song and wanted to learn to yodel...She's a perky, busy lady who loves to learn new things....she even had a couple of children's books published in her 70s......So she got a few yodeling lessons and we asked her to demonstrate what she had learned...perform a little yodeling for us...we were mostly teasing and she came through....She yodeled...."lil ole lady who, lil ole lady who."...It was very well done and it cracked us up.....
