It's an effective ad. I don't think there is any question about that. I dislike most political ads, especially the negative ones and most of them are negative. The positive ones however get my attention enough that they will at least compel me to listen to that candidate. I don't think they seal the deal but they do give a candidate a chance at winning me over. It's pretty important for a candidate to follow through on a promise. If a promise is rational and has a chance at genuine political support an ad can indeed make the difference. Negative ads can be persuasive as well, providing the compelling argument that yep, a voter's instinct that change would be better is spot on...and therefore motivates a voter not to sit out an election. They can backfire too. I still hate George Bush's Willie Horton ad. It turned me off for good. The Daisy ad against Goldwater scared me, and I barely over 10 years old - but I remember it.

I like to think that I'm immune to the effect of political ads. But this article has made me rethink them. They make a bigger difference than I thought. Whether this one flips the race is an open question. I hope the Lincoln project isn't done. America has to end the Trump nightmare and marginalize, forever, the goons who follow him.
