MY WISH AND MY PLEA

" DRAMATIC ELEPHANT RESCUE IN ZAMBIA "

These incredible event and images show the dramatic moment, when a mother elephant and her baby were saved from drowning in a lagoon.

The baby howled to draw attention from the other herd as mother and baby were sinking into that muddy lagoon. The herd tried unsuccessfully to drag the mother and calf to safety before workers from the South Luangwa Conservation Society and Zambian Wildlife Authority took matters into their own hands.
Conservation workers joined forces for the rescue after finding the animals stuck in the Kapani Lagoon, in Zambia.

With the family of elephants looking on, the team slipped a rope under the calf’s trunk and attempted to free her from the mud.
The rescue attempt was hindered by the drying mud and the young elephant’s reluctance to leave her mother. Then, the first attempt to rescue the calf were successful, but instead of running free she ran back into the mud to be with Mom. She got stuck again and at last they could force baby elephant to go join its herd waiting a bit far away.

This time – thanks to a young herd cousin calling her to safety….. She made a dash for it as the rest of the herd screamed for her to come to them The infant wailed as she was eventually dragged from that lagoon and raced to join her waiting family while the rescuers attention turned to the mother, who appeared very tired from the struggle.

Attempts to free her with man-power alone failed and the rescuers were forced to bring in a tractor. The huge beast was tied to the machine and gradually pulled from the mud. The mother was finally freed and ran for freedom towards her baby and waiting herd.

Speaking after the rescue, team member Rachel Mc Robb was reported as saying: “Most conservationists believe that man should not meddle with the natural order and that we should allow nature to run her course however cruel or grim it seems to be".
“We agree on the whole, unless a wildlife problem has been created by man (for instance in the case of snaring or being trapped in a fence or in such muddy pool, in which case it's justifiable to intervene) then nature should be left to her own devices.
"However - every rule has an exception and the dreadful plight of a baby elephant trapped in the mud and her mother, who had also got stuck trying to save her baby, had us all in a frenzy of activity. We simply could not stand by and watch them struggle and slowly die. Our duty was to do the utmost we could to save them both".

And that was the happy ending of that struggle to save the lives of a mother elephant and her baby.

I hope this incentive and relating event, have given us an example of the human feelings towards other endangered creatures. Thank you for your read and views.

I wish all of you, my very best.

RAINBOWS, AN ARRAY OF MYSTICAL COLORS

Today I have posted this bog which I had drafted since a week ago. Hoping it may please you. Happy reading.

* Rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicolored arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.
Rainbows can be full circles; however, the average observer sees only an arc formed by illuminated droplets above the ground and centered on a line from the sun to the observer's eye.

In a primary rainbow, the arc shows red on the outer part and violet on the inner side. ~((It is caused by light being refracted when entering a droplet of water, then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it)).~
In a double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc, and has the order of its colors reversed, with red on the inner side of the arc.

Rainbow are not located at a specific distance from the observer, but comes from an optical illusion caused by any water droplets viewed from a certain angle relative to a light source. Thus, a rainbow is not an object and cannot be physically approached or touched. Indeed, Rainbows span a continuous spectrum of colors.

For colors seen by the human eye, the most commonly cited and remembered sequence is Newton's seven-fold: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet, remembered by the mnemonic, Rainbows can be caused by many forms of airborne water. These include not only rain, but also mist, spray, and airborne dew.

"A RAINBOW IS AN UNTOUCHABLE, DELIGHTFUL NATURAL WONDER FOR OUR EYES ".

Thank you so much for your read and views and for your time taken as well.

Lisa.

Socotra is " A UNIQUE ISLAND OF YEMEN". One of the most strangest island in the World. Everything about the island is strange, its landscape, its plants and its animals . The flora and fauna on Socotra island is considered the 'jewel' of bio-diversity.The plants are all funny looking and have weird structure. Some animals on the island are slightly bigger and scarier, like the chameleons, the crabs, the lizards, the blue, black and brown scorpions, the blue spiders, the blue face monkeys and other animals. The landscape is weird and you feels like you are on an alien planet.

It lies to the east of the Horn of Africa and south of the Arabian Peninsula. The island is very isolated and a third of its plant life is found nowhere else on the planet. It has been described as " The most alien-looking place on earth". Socotra is part of Yemen. In 2008, it was recognized by UNESCO, as a World natural heritage and it is a protected area. It is also called " The Lost World" of Socotra, The trees and plants on the island have evolved to suit its hostile climate and some varieties of plant are a staggering 20 million years. Most of the species found on Socotra island, are endemic and cannot be seen anywhere else on Earth. A remote island with plants up to 20 MILLION years old, Socotra the remote Island is home to around 800 rare species of flora and fauna, the most famous is the "Dragon Blood Tree", a very abnormal looking umbrella-shaped tree which produces red sap. Whose name is derived from the fact that by carving its trunk it pours out a red resin, it is said by the ancient belief, to be the blood of the dragon.
~Adenium obesum
~Caralluma socotrana
~Kalanchoe farinacea
~Aloe and Euphorbia spiralis
~The cucumber tree and other rare plants not found in other parts of the world. The birds species registered are more than 140.

The inhabitants of the mountains are living in caves. (They are nomads, descendants of an old South Arabian tribe speaking still the old Arabian dialect Soqotri related to the Mahri dialect). Some live in primitive houses with roofs from palm leaves and tree stems.
The whole island and its coasts are under the protection of the Yemeni Conservation and Development Authority that declared the island a “Naturally Protected Area” and, in collaboration with the Yemeni Tourism Authority produces a guide for Eco tourism. Nature has granted Socotra with many beautiful elements thus, locals strictly make sure everything has been preserved, much as respected and conserved. Equally they are committed to the sole guardian of the island. Below are a few collage which I have done, to enable you seeing the utmost of Socotra island.

I hope the description of this strange island and the few related pics have pleased you. Thank you for your read and your views.

A SPECIAL RARE FERN WHICH I GROW AND OTHERS.....

I have been growing a rare type of fern, which is a long drop to more than 2 meters. It is an indoor plant and it doesn't like too much sun. Therefore, I had to place it in an area from which it gets a little sun from the window and also a free space for all its long drops. So the best place was on the landing of my staircase. It remains green all year round, all its leafy stems drop down to 2 meters +. It has 2 types of small soft leaves, a sort of cotton type and the other is plain and horizontal. It need to be wet or humid all the time, little fertilizer occasionally, guidance to where I want its stems to drop down and removal of the dry leaves. It has a very nice appearance and a fresh look all the time.

The others are other green ferns which I grow, are also for indoors, in the lounge, Sitting room or elsewhere in the house. Then some others which are outdoor plants in my garden. I have taken a few photos to share with all of you. Hoping they will please you. Happy viewing and thanks for your read.

Engineering Marvel - China Set To Open World's Longest And Highest Glass-Bottom Bridge‏, the World's longest Skywalk.
Don't look down!. Would you walk over this bridge made of glass?.

If you are terrified of heights you would be advised to stay well away from China’s latest attraction. Scary walkway opened in south-west China in Chongqing, which extended 87.5ft from the edge of a cliff. Visitors are suspended in the air with 2,350ft of valley below their feet, leaving them feel as though they are walking on air. Located in the Longgang National Geological Park, the bridge has been named Yuanduan, meaning "At the end of the clouds". The Grand Canyon Skywalk. National Geological Park in south-west China. The World's longest cantilever bridge. The horseshoe shaped glass phenomenon.

The terrifying platform is no quick stroll, stretching a whopping 1,410ft above the impressive Hunan province scenery. Those who fear the bridge will give way need not worry, as the 19ft-wide bridge is able to hold 800 tourists at a time. There are even fashions shows along the sky-high pathway, which has unbeatable views of the national park . The dizzying walkway is suspended between two cliffs in the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon area with unbeatable views of the national park, is set to smash records to be the world’s longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge and was designed to be invisible as possible--a white bridge disappearing into the clouds."

The record-breaking construction is the work of award-winning Israeli architect Haim Dotam, best known for his ecologically-minded designs throughout the world. Spanning 1,410 feet long, 20 feet across and hovering 984 feet above the ground, the new transparent walkway is the largest of its kind ever built. The suspension bridge consists of two side steel beams with a structural glass deck and hanging side stay cables. Dotan estimates that the bridge will be able to hold up to 800 people at once. Israeli architect Haim Dotan was behind the ambitious venture, which will easily dwarf America’s Grand Canyon Skywalk which sits 718ft above ground measuring 68ft long.

For tourists who catch the adrenaline bug from completing the transparent walkway, there will also be the opportunity to try the world’s highest bungee jump. The bridge will afford tourists a world class view of the striking landscape that includes many sandstone and quartz cliff often dotted with trees and waterfalls.

I hope you will enjoy the consecutive photos posted below.
Thank you for your read and views. Have a pleasant time
Sincerely.

THE LIONS AND US

When my Emily, came on holidays here in my country, during the month of June recently. We went to Casela Natural Park. to spent the day. As my was keen to be live and in direct contact with the lions, so I bought the tickets and we got in the Lions' park. It was safe in there as the guards were in too but stayed a bit far from us, not to be in the photos but watching keenly over the lions' behaviors. A group of 10 persons, is allowed to go in, each time. There were several white and brown lions in there but very playful and not aggressive. We could get very near to them, touched, caressed them and sat beside them and took some photos with them too. When they went up the trees and sat on the branches as shown, we stood in front of them and by chance the white lion came on that branch too and we had the photos taken while the others in the group were with other lions in there.

It was thrilling really, I was a bit scared at first and my heart was pumping fast!!. !! . But my wasn't scared and was overwhelmed and we had enjoyed it so much. It was our first time for such adventure with the Lions. I hope our relative and eventual encounter posted on here, has given you an insight of The Casela Natural Park here, more photos of the Wild Cats in this Park, are on my blog, on my Page 8, which I had posted before.
Thanks so much for your read and views. I wish you all,
A VERY HAPPY SUNDAY.

THE INCREDIBLE NATURAL PHENOMENA AROUND THE WORLD.

5578 Views
Nature has helped produce stunning wonders around the world. Some of these natural phenomena are so bizarre that it can be tough to believe they exist, but the breathtaking and eerie wonders reveal nature's immense power. Here are some of the world's most fascinating natural marvels.

1- In Morocco, goats climb up argan trees in order to eat their fruit.
The site is not uncommon to locals, but travelers are often
shocked to see the bizarre phenomenon.

2- Lake Hillier, located in Australia’s Rechercha Archipelago, is not
the only pink lake to exist, but while other pink lakes change
colors in different temperatures, Lake Hillier maintains the same
color year-round, even when bottled. The cause of the color
remains undetermined, though some say it could be the result of
its high salt content combined with the presence of a pink
bacteria species.

3- After a flood hit the Pakistani village of Sindh in 2010, millions of
spiders crawled to safety in the trees and spun their webs. The
result led to fascinating web-cocooned trees.

4- Kawah Ijen volcano, located in East Java, Indonesia, is famous
for its bright blue fire that streams down the mountain in the
evenings. The glow comes from the combustion of sulfuric
gases that emerge from cracks in the volcano at high pressure.

5- The Richat Structure, also known as the Eye of the Sahara,
stands as a large bulls’-eye in the middle of Africa’s Sahara
desert. With a diameter that spans almost 30 miles, it is thought
to be the result of erosion and stands as a marvel for scientists
and travelers alike

6- Circumhorizontal arcs, or Fire Rainbows, form when sunlight
enters ice crystals in the high levels of clouds, splitting them into
an array of colors. They’re typically only spotted in the summer,
considering that the sun needs to be at an elevation of 58° or
higher for the phenomenon to occur.

7- Monarch butterflies are the only butterflies who can make a two-
way migration. Every year, they take to the skies from eastern
North America to the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico (during
the end of October) and from western North America to
California.

8- Venezuela’s Catatumbo Lightning is often called the Everlasting
Storm and recently entered the Guinness Book of World Records
because of the fact that it strikes 300 days of the year. The
country’s weather and topography has led to the continuous
lightning.

9- For most of the year, the red land crabs of Christmas Island, in
Australia, reside in the forests. But around November, around 120
million of them emerge from the forest, crossing the area’s roads
and heading towards the Indian Ocean to release their eggs at
the high tide.

10- Cashiers is a town located in the center of the Blue Ridge
Mountains in North Carolina. On sunny days, for 30 minutes at
5:30 p.m. and 6.15 pm, from mid October through early
November and again from mid-February to early March, a
shadow in the shape of a giant bear appears in the Blue Ridge
Mountains near Cashiers, N.C. It’s caused by 4,930-foot White-
side Mountain, whose shadow is cast at the right angle by the
setting autumn sun.

There are many more photos but due to space limitation on here, am unable to post more. I hope these above ones have pleased you. Thank you so much for your read and views.
Sincerely,
Lisa.
