MY WISH AND MY PLEA

"How sad, a heart that does not know what love is, that does not feel the greatness of love. If it doesn't have true love, how can it enjoy the blinding light of the sun, the beautiful colors of the rainbow and the soft light of the moon?"

Jealousy is a resentment of a person against a rival, against someone enjoying success or advantage, who is liked or loved,
valued and regarded highly, admired and respected etc.,
A mental uneasiness from suspicion, a fear and hostile toward a rival, as in love or aims,
a jealous feeling, disposition, state, or mood. An unhappy or angry feeling caused by the belief that someone you love likes or is liked by someone else. The most correct definition would be the feeling of being threatened by a rival in a romantic relationship or losing something of value to another person which happens to be yours already.
Jealousy becomes problematic. It is a serious issue that plagues many relationships, turning even the strongest.
Jealousy root cause is a Lack of self confidence: The main cause for feelings of jealousy are your doubts
Jealousy can be a powerful and destructive force in relationships.

Though a little jealousy in a romantic relationship is undoubtedly natural. A jealous man who feels insecure in his romantic relationships, for example, does not feel confident that he is good and valuable enough to keep another person interested in him over time. It's an obsessive-compulsive disorder, jealousy actually stems from an overall paranoid approach to many things in life.

Men and women with a paranoid personality style are often blamer, assigning blame to others as opposed to looking inward and accepting accountability for their own flaws or mistakes. Too often, they get jealous and grasp onto a strong belief that their partner is cheating—and no amount of evidence can convince them otherwise. Understand that the root of this type of behavior is: insecurity, doubts, obsessiveness, exaggeration or paranoia. These can lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy by creating actual distance between ourselves and our partners, pushing them further away from us, perhaps ultimately into another person's arms.

Jealousy is usually a by-product of insecurity and low self-worth. You may have fears of being abandoned or rejected by someone close to you. Or, you could be pouring your whole identity into just one obsession or passion, so that when it doesn't go your way, the loss of control or unwanted outcome really shakes your confidence. It's a destructive way by making accusations, giving someone the rough treatment or dropping sarcastic hints. Jealousy engenders Envy, which is hatred/bitterness towards another person for having an advantage that YOU don't ... It's a feeling or showing an envious resentment at someone or their achievement in any way.

Don't let jealousy affect your mind, your spirit and your life, the stronger it gets, the worst and miserable you'll feel. Thank you for your read and views.
Sincerely,
Lisa.

"CYCLONES, HURRICANES AND TYPHOONS", WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT ANY?

There are three different terms for these severe storms: Cyclone, Hurricane and Typhoon.
There is no difference apart from slightly different wind speeds. Cyclones", with low pressure, spin counter-clockwise. A tropical cyclone is a warm-core system that has a warm, humid, tropical air mass throughout the entire storm. Tropical cyclones derive their energy from the intense thunderstorm activity that forms around the eye of the storm. Cyclones are a mass of very thick positive and negative clouds, with powerful thunder and lightening, with heavy/torrential rain and strong whirlwind. It depends on its speed, the faster it goes the better but when slows, with a very intense capacity, it is really devastating.

America calls it "Hurricane." In the western Pacific near Asia call "Typhoons." In most of the southern hemisphere and the Indian Ocean, it's called "Cyclones." They are all based on latitude

Here in my country, we've survived many violent cyclones. My first experience was in 1960, when I was still a , there were two devastating cyclones within barely a month interval. The first intense one, called Alix, in January 1960, with gust of 200 km/hr and the second intense one was Carol in February the same year with 256 km/hr. At that time most, if not all the houses were wooden ones, so imagine the havoc and damages done the population that time. Our house was also damaged with blasted glass panes and the top of the roof also. My parents gathered all of us in a safer room, ready to evacuate in case the roof would blow off, we gathered some our needs to go away to the safe shelter but luckily, no more damage until that cyclone has passed and afterwards our house was repaired. We have had many other cyclones after that.

Than in the 70's my parents decided to have the house built in concrete blocks and cement, as it is safer during any cyclone, and most of the people did so as well. When the eye of the cyclone passes right over the country, from North to South or from East to West, at low speed, it is really extremely dangerous. Some happened in the day time and many at night which were very scary. During the cyclone, electricity is cut off for safety and all the island was in total darkness. We had to use candlelight, torches or gas lamps and a battery operated radio for continuous news .

We had to use candlelight, torches or gas lamps and a battery operated radio for continuous news .

Every family had to get ready for any emergency. With raincoats, a few clothes, money and torches, to get away, be it in the torrential rain, lightening and thunder, in the powerful wind, roaring and smashing everything on it way, blasting glass panes, breaking down electric poles, big trees with branches being blown away as well as zinc sheets flying above like kites in the air, wooden roofs lifted and thrown apart and houses broken. Once the house becomes unsafe, one must leave in spite of the weather condition outside. We could watch all these through the window glass during day time, but at night it was very terrifying, it's by strong continuous lightening strikes, that we could see what was happening outside. Gosh!! Really dreadful and heartbreaking seeing all these devastation going on. People walking to seek shelters, trying to hold themselves . With wrapped in any sort of protection, in the arms or on the shoulders of their parents. Several times we had sheltered couples with young until the cyclone had gone. Sometimes it took 2/3 days at most then everyone try to repair their homes. The intense and severe cyclones we've got, were of 216 km/hr up to 280 km/hr!!.

All those have been very severe and devastating cyclones. But fortunately most houses and high-rise buildings, since the 70's, are built with iron, concrete cement and blocks with shutters also. So, from then on, damages are less, mainly on crops, vegetation, forestry, electrical poles and telephone cables and floods. There may be a few houses in villages too but not as it was long ago. However all cyclones are dangerous, we should be prepared for any drastic change during their trajectory. This is nature and none can fight against it.

I hope this blog has given you a good insight about cyclones/hurricanes or typhoons.
Please kindly tell us your experience if you have has any. Thank you for your read and views. Sincerely,
Lisa.

TO BRING YOU A LITTLE SMILE FOR THE DAY.

A woman was having a passionate affair with an Irish inspector from a pest-control company. One afternoon they were carrying on in the bedroom together when her husband arrived home unexpectedly.

'Quick,' said the woman to the lover, 'into the closet!' and she pushed him in the closet, stark naked.

The husband, however, became suspicious and after a search of the bedroom discovered the man in the closet.

'Who are you?' he asked him.

'I'm an inspector from Bugs-B-Gone,' said the exterminator.

'What are you doing in there?' the husband asked.

'I'm investigating a complaint about an infestation of moths,' the man replied.

'And where are your clothes?' asked the husband.

The man looked down at himself and
said, 'Those little bastards! '

The husband then forced him out of the closet to the balcony and threw him over
saying: "To get rid of you and your little bastards ".

Thank you for your read. Keep smiling if this could make you smile.
Have a nice day.
Lisa.

A MYSTERIOUS SHELL GROTTO ......

Buried deep underground in small English town of Margate, Kent, in UK, is a grotto shrouded in complete mystery. Adorned with about 4.6 million shells and 70 ft of winding underground passages leading to a rectangular chamber, this shell grotto is undoubtedly a remarkable site to behold.
Story has it that in 1835, a laborer was going about his usual field work, but when he struck the soil with his spade, it sank into the earth. The farmer realized that he was standing on something hollow, but was unable to see anything from the surface. Word spread around town, and a local school teacher volunteered his young , Joshua, to be lowered into the hole with a candle. Upon emerging from the mysterious cavern, Joshua described rooms filled with hundreds of thousands of carefully arranged shells.

A theory holds that the grotto was created as an aristocrat's folly, specially among the wealthy. The only catch to this theory, though, is that the grotto's location was on farmland - a land that had never been part of a large estate where follies would have been satisfied. Others believe that it may have been used as an astrological calendar in the past. There are those also, who say that the grotto must somehow be connected with the Freemasons or the Knights Templar. Others believe that the grotto may date as far back as 12,000 years ago, maintaining that it is connected to a mysterious Mexican culture.

Its mystery has left people completely stumped, so much so that in the 1930s, some had held séances, in the hopes of contacting the spirits of whoever built the grotto. Right now, it seems, we will not discover the truth behind this mysterious shell grotto. The age of the shells could be determined through carbon dating according but it's a pricey process and other conservation issues are currently being prioritized. One thing is clear though, the arrangement of the shells must have taken countless hours of painstaking work. Unfortunately, many of the shells in the grotto have faded over time, losing their luster through water damage. In its early days, it would have been full of dazzling color. This recreation shows what they might have looked like at the time, and with over 4.6 million shells, it surely must have looked astonishing!

Researchers have dated the grotto everywhere from prehistoric to Roman and Ancient Phoenician! There have been several different samples taken of the mortar with which the shells are mounted on the wall. It showed that several compounds had been used, mostly based fish-based glue, material known as Roman cement. At first glance the Grotto’s design only adds to the confusion, with humble cockles, whelks, mussels and oysters creating a swirling profusion of patterns and symbols. There are trees of life, phalluses, gods, goddesses and something that looks very like an altar.

The claim that the cave originates from the Phoenician period would seem far-fetched. The Phoenicians were known as excellent sailors and are responsible for our use of the alphabet. Archeology announced that at Pegwell Bay an old cemetery was found with bodies dating from the early Bronze Age (ca. 1500 BC). In those days, the deceased were usually cremated and it was not customary to bury them.

Could this be a cemetery of the Phoenician navigators?. Was the grotto used as a temple by old pagan religions or as a meeting place for a secret society? Oriental motifs found on the walls of the grotto have led to speculations about Phoenicians, Romans, Knights Templar, mystics and magicians. The fact is that no one really knows why the shells grotto was built. Some obvious statements however can easily be refuted. But despite the multiple theories going around, no one has been able to solve the mystery of this Shell Grotto. However, there’s only one fact about the Grotto that is indisputable: that it is a unique work of art that should be valued and preserved, whatever its age or origins.

Some photos I've posted below show us the exact structure of that grotto, with all the designs done by those millions of shells fixed by a complicated fish glue. I hope my above blog would please you. Thank you for your read and views.
Sincerely,
Lisa.

A KIND OF PILGRIMAGE TO A SACRED LAKE ......

Maha Shivaratri Festival, the culture and faith of the Hindu community.

As we are a multi faith population in Mauritius, tomorrow Monday 7th March will be a religious celebration for the Hindus here. This religious celebration is called Maha Shivaratri, the most popular for the Hindus and it is an occasion for their great religious fervor and mass participation through their annual pilgrimage to the lake called Grand Bassin ( The Great Lake) here, which is a very deep volcanic lake, in a secluded area, in the heart of the forest to the south of the island. It is about 1800 feet above sea level and is surrounded by a natural scenery of breathtaking beauty. Since its creation, this lake has always been full of water. In 1972 sacred water from the Ganges was brought and poured into the lake by the Hindu priests, from then on,the Hindus here called it the Ganga Talao, (the lake of the Ganges). The annual pilgrimage to Grand Bassin has become a very important feature in the religious life of the Hindu community of Mauritius.

The Festival itself is preceded by weeks of preparation and discipline, during the last week no meat and alcohol are consumed. Three days before the festival, devotees start on a pilgrimage to the Ganga Talao/ Grand Bassin. Hindu men, women and , all dressed in white, in thousands, from every nook and corner of the island, travel to the lake on foot, in a slow and never-ending procession. On their way, a journey of more than thirty miles, they carry on their shoulders, sometimes by two or four, structures made of bamboo and decorated with paper streamers and small multi-colored tinkling bells and photos of their Gods. These are called Kanwars, which are artistic masterpieces built mostly like domed temples, rippling with colors and flashing with the reflected lights of countless mirrors.

In various places, tarpaulin shelters are set up for these pilgrims to rest by taking a break during their journey. Light meals and soft drinks are often offered at these stop-over points. The pilgrims gladly carry these Kanwars on their necks and shoulders symbolizing their loving surrender and obedience to their Divine will. When they reach the Ganga Talao, and after a short rest, they offer prayers to their Lord Shiva and to their favorite deities at the various shrines around the lake.

After prayers, it is time for the pilgrims to start on their long journey back carrying their Kanwars and their lotas (small pots of brass) filled with the sacred water from the lake. On the day of the Maha Shivaratri itself, the sacred water is brought to the temple in their locality and poured on the Shiva Linga,(a sort of statue). It is estimated that about 250,000 people go on pilgrimage to Grand Bassin every year. To the visitor who comes by car or coach, the experience may be rather unnerving, with the slow-moving traffic, the jams, the thousands of men and women and the Kanwars of various shapes and sizes crowding the streets.

Below are some photos of the different types of Kanwars carried by these pilgrims during their Maha Shivaratri festival and photos of their Shrines, their procession and of the Grand Bassin lake. Some of these Kanwars are so large and high that one pilgrim has to walk in front with a forked pole to lift up any low electric cable on the way. It is eventually very risky but they still do it. Grand Bassin is a touristic place with the beautiful sceneries of the forest, the mountains, the volcanic lake and these Hindu shrines. All year round tourists go to visit Grand Bassin which is also listed on the sightseeing tours.

I hope this blog has given you more info about other celebrations and cultures on my country, Mauritius, Thank you for your read and views. Happy viewing.
Sincerely,
Lisa.

Once there lived a beautiful Queen with queenly large breasts. Nick the Dragon Slayer obsessed over the Queen for this reason. He knew that the penalty for his desire would be death should he try to touch them, but he had to try. One day Nick revealed his secret desire to his colleague, Horatio the Physician, the King's chief doctor. Horatio thought about this and said that he could arrange for Nick to more than satisfy his desire, but it would cost him 1000 gold coins to arrange it.

Without pause, Nick readily agreed to the scheme. The next day, Horatio made a batch of itching powder and poured a little bit into the Queen's bra while she bathed. Soon after she dressed, the itching commenced and grew intense. Upon being summoned to the Royal Chambers to address this incident, Horatio informed the King and Queen that only a special saliva, if applied for four hours, would cure this type of itch, and that tests had shown that, among all of the citizens of the kingdom, only the saliva of Nick would work
as the antidote to cure the itch.

The King, eager to help his Queen, quickly summoned Nick to their chambers.. Horatio then slipped Nick the antidote for the itching powder, which he put into his mouth, and for the next four hours, Nick worked passionately on the Queen's large and magnificent breasts. The Queen's itching was eventually relieved, and Nick left satisfied and was hailed by both the King and Queen as a hero.

Upon returning to his chamber, Nick found Horatio demanding his payment of 1000 gold coins. With his obsession now satisfied, Nick couldn't have cared less knowing that Horatio could never report this matter to the King and with a laugh told him to get lost.

The next day, Horatio slipped a massive dose of the same itching
powder into the King's underwear. The King immediately summoned Nick . . . You can guess what happened next !!

The moral of the story - "A promise made is a debt unpaid".
Promises are just words, when they are not fulfilled, you'll pay the consequences.

I hope you have understood the moral in this short story. Thank you for your read and views. Keep smiling but pay your debt.

Lisa.
