Hi folks

With all this talk about the breakdown of family units in the black communities today, it occurs to me this is a major problem in all ethnic groups and communities in America today. True, it's worse in some groups and regions, but it's still an overall epidemic affecting all of us and not just a few subgroups.

So, I'm curious how others on here feel about a subject I've long been opposed to: No-Fault Divorce.

I'm of the opinion that No-Fault divorce is a bad method of dealing with social problems of a rising divorce rate. I don't know if divorce rates rose with the advent of NFD, but my guess is they did. But worse, I think it sends a bad message to a society when a casual termination of the marital contract is condoned and facilitated by government.

I just think marriage should not be something casually disposed of, and that's why it should only be entered with caution. Culture and laws should not be quick to approve divorce. Marriage should be very hard to get out of.

JMHO.

Curious how others feel about this?

Gavin

Hi folks!

Just a small request, if anyone wants to oblige I'd appreciate it.

My Jason has been struggling hard to find consistent work while staying out of trouble for several years now, and for the next couple weeks he is involved in a job that could finally get him out of his rut. So, he asked me to pray for him, (very unusual for him to do that) and I promised I would, and that I'd ask my friends to also pray that this opportunity to save and rebuild his tree trimming service succeeds.

Thanks a lot and GBU,

Gavin

Hi Moot

I heard there are people on here who hate you. Sorry to hear that, but I think you'll appreciate some thoughts I have on the matter of hate.

I'm even more sorry for those who hate you. I don't know who they are, but it has always seemed to me that hating someone is a stupid emotional investment.

If someone hates us, they are the ones constantly feeling tense and upset, and that's a heavy price to pay for someone the haters really shouldn't value much in the first place. They are investing too much of themselves in making us a priority to them, cos let's face it, none of us is worth the effort it takes to hate us.

You and I differ quite often, but I don't hate you, and never have. My life is much easier and happier when I can just agree to disagree with folks when differences come up.

And if anyone hates me, I'm sorry you invest so much of your life in me. I'm really just not worth sacrificing that much of your emotional time and energy in.

GBU Moot and everyone else,

Gavin

Racism is denied?

Lately I've seen blogs about racism in SFF, but one stands out to me today. One blogger implies that someone in SFF denies there is racism in the USA.

Who would that be? I've just never seen anyone make such a claim in SFF, or anywhere else for that matter.

I think everyone, conservative and liberal agree that racism exists in the USA.

I think what may differ is which types of racism occur, and just who and how the racists are.

Racism still exists on all sides of the white/black/Hispanic/etc. populations. What is unclear, is where the problem is most prevalent and by whom, and most importantly, when is it really racism and not just disagreement.

Yes, there is an individual mandate. Dems lie when they deny it.

Hi folks,

As I usually do, before I read the other blogs of the day, I check the ones I've already posted to see if there are any new comments. Oddly, an old blog from last week had 6 new comments! (Mostly from Christians who kept asserting something I'd never denied.) It was clear they didn't get it.

So I thought of an example that might make my point.

What if, when the Pharisees brought the woman caught in adultery to Jesus, that woman's adulterous act was lesbianism? Would Jesus have said anything different than he did as recorded Biblicly? ("Let him who is without sin cast the first stone")

I for one can't believe He'd have said anything different, no matter what her sin was.

That's because I believe God loves everyone, and even tho we all sin.

A Higher Cause: Water Preservation

I recently did some soul searching, and realize that I've spent much of my life on frivolous and wasteful things.

From now on, I'm going to devote my time, resources, and money to something bigger than me. I've chosen water preservation.

So, I'll soon be establishing a foundation for water preservation, and applying for tax exempt status, but donations are welcome immediately.

You see, water is one of our most precious resources. My foundation will thus go to funding those entities who have an established record of working to best preserve water.

The GLS Foundation will operate efficiently, using 100% of all contributions to support breweries.

Please donate now, before all water goes stagnant. Beer needs to be funded for us all.

Save a Budwieser for you, me, and all of mankind.

DONATE TODAY TO THE GLS BEER FUND! Save water by brewing it!

Thank you so much for supporting our cause. A beer is waiting for you. Won't you give today?

LOL!

GBU,

Gavin
