”You know that place between sleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you. That’s where I’ll be waiting.”

I lie awake and realize
That you’re better than my dreams
Thought I found love so many times
‘Til you showed me what it means

Oh-oh, nothing compares to you
On no, baby
They were just doing it wrong
I gave up on love until you made me believe in it after all
After all, mmh-mmh

If you never fell out of the sky
I don’t know what I would do
I wouldn’t trade one thousand lives
For the one I have with you

Oh-oh, nothing compares to you
Oh no, baby
They were just doing it wrong
I gave up on love until you made me believe in it after all
After all, oh-ah

Baby, after all, oh-oh-oh-woah
It’s not the same, not the same, not the same, oh

Nothing compares to you
On no, baby
They were just doing it wrong (doing it wrong)
I gave up on love until you made me believe in it after all (after all)
After all, oh

Nothing compares to you
Oh no, baby (oh no, baby)
They were just doing it wrong (doing it wrong)
I gave up on love until you made me believe in it after all (after all)
After all, oh

Sweet revenge is spoken then
In the twilight it is gone
To living lies with no escape
Lord I would rather be alone

I press my fingers to the wood
To tell you of my dreaming
To sing you songs from olden times
To keep the love light gleaming

Cause there’s a place where we can go
Where we will not be parted
And who alone will enter there?
Only the broken hearted.

The initial shock of finding herself in the midst of such an unusual gathering was starting to wear off .. and as the orchestra played, the seductive rhythms began to flow, wrapping their sweetness around her until her body began to sway in perfect time to the beat. As odd as it seemed, Kat was beginning to feel at home amongst these strange and beautiful people and she desired nothing more than to let her guard down, surrendering herself up to the spell she had fallen under.

Kat could sense the powerful forces now gathering around her, unseen voices whispering her name from every corner, tantalizing, teasing .. urging her to surrender to the magic of the masquerade. It was a sensation that could only be likened to the opiate effects of some powerful drug pulsing through her veins, blindsiding her and distorting reality. She fought hard to remind herself that tonight of all nights, she could not afford to lay her heart bare .. because tonight not everything was as it seemed. Tonight illusion was king and she must be on guard or risk losing something much more valuable than any material possession she might own. For although she didn’t know it right now, and indeed would have laughed at the very idea .. Kat was in serious danger of losing herself once again to the only man who could ever claim her as his own. Sariel had held her soul within his hands once before .. but could he manage to win her back long enough to do it again?

Slowly the heat began to rise and the music became gradually louder until suddenly and without warning, the room tilted at an alarming angle, the floor rising beneath Kat’s feet like some crazy room in a carnival funhouse. It was all she could do to steady herself as her entire world spun out of control and her vision became cloudy. Strange objects wove in and out of focus at an alarming rate of speed.

Kat reached out blindly trying desperately to grab onto something solid before she collapsed to the floor. But just as she feared her luck had run out, a strong hand pulled her to safety followed quickly by a very masculine arm which wasted no time wrapping itself securely about her waist. As Kat held on for dear life, time ceased to exist. Everything around her now moved in a kind of exaggerated slow motion as though the world had suddenly collapsed in on itself. The room had fallen silent and all eyes turned towards her. But Kat didn’t dare move in case she should attract the attention of those who would feed upon fear. Just then the stranger who had broken her fall appeared to grow impatient with her silence and an ominous growling filled her ears before she was spun unceremoniously around to face him. Caught off guard by this sudden movement, Kat gasped and her eyes widened in horror as she tried to make sense of the monster that was now staring down at her. His lips were pulled back to reveal the hungry vicious snarl of a predator. His teeth were shockingly white and unnaturally sharp and his eyes blazed as though the very fires of hell burned in their depths. Kat felt helpless as his gaze devoured her, and she could sense a carnal hunger lurking just below the surface, a hunger that could never be satisfied until her blood was flowing through his veins. It was all she could do to stop herself from screaming when he reached out to touch her cheek with a hand that was as cold as death itself.

What was going on she wondered? It was almost as though she was drunk - but from what? She hadn’t touched a drop of alcohol since she had arrived and yet the effects she was feeling were unmistakeably those of an alcohol induced state. Confusion washed over her and then cleared when another hand - even stronger than the first, reached over to pull her away from the monster who held her captive. It was Krish and Kat was never more grateful to see him than she was at that moment. She breathed a sigh of relief as he pulled her close and asked what had happened. “I don’t know” Kat answered back. “One moment I was lost in the excitement - and the next I was literally falling into the arms of a stranger .. not to mention a very hungry looking stranger.” She couldn’t help but shiver as she thought of the man who had seemed ready to devour her until Krish stepped in - but when she looked back over her shoulder he was gone. There was no sign of him. He had quite simply vanished, just like the limo driver from earlier that evening. This was getting out of hand - but Kat was determined to stay until midnight and the unmasking. Something told her that if she could last that long she wouldn’t be disappointed. It was going to be well worth whatever minor discomforts she might have to put up with from Krish.

Taking a deep breath, Kat tried to steady herself and was grateful for the comfort when Krish pulled her close. She looked up at him, confusion mirrored in her blue eyes, and she wanted desperately to ask him what was going on, but before the words had escaped her lips he had handed her a glass of champagne and told her to drink. “This is going to make you feel a whole lot better.” Kat looked uncertainly at the drink but thought that he was probably right. A little bit of the bubbly certainly couldn’t hurt and might even help her to forget what had just happened. She raised the glass to her lips and took a sip of the champagne. The bubbles tickled her nose and she found herself beginning to feel better already. Kat took another sip and then another. This was quite the drink - whatever year it was it was certainly a good one. Kat licked her lips and smiled with pleasure .. mmmmmmmm.

After a few more sips of champagne, Kat felt strong enough to pose the question that had been on her mind for most of the evening .. “So where is this surprise you had in store for me Krish?” “Well - that’s a very good question” he responded thoughtfully .. and he turned away from her to scan the room, his eyes darting back and forth as if searching for something or someone - but who that someone was remained a mystery. Just then the crowd parted and a man came walking towards them from the growing sea of people. He reached out to hug Krish and shake his hand. Krish seemed genuinely happy to see him and they exchanged some small talk before bursting into laughter at something that seemed to be a private joke between them. “MEN!” Kat thought to herself. Probably discussing the latest dirty movie they had seen on TV last night. It wouldn’t surprise her a bit if they were even bragging to each other about how they could have done it better, no doubt re-writing the scene where they were the ones satisfying 10 women at once. A riveting conversation Kat was sure .. but nothing she was interested in hearing.

Kat was getting bored just standing there and was about to go and mingle herself when Krish suddenly turned around to introduce her to the man standing next to him. “Kat .. I’d like you to meet Nazem. He’s a good friend of mine. We go back a long way.” Even though Kat was caught completely off guard by this sudden introduction - she couldn’t help but extend her hand towards him. He took it and held it for the longest time, sending a very pleasurable sensation down the length of her body. She smiled nervously and looked into his beautiful dark eyes. Although his emotions were extremely hard to read - Kat got the distinct impression that Nazem was interested in much more than just holding her hand.

She couldn’t get over how absolutely gorgeous this man was - and there was no mistaking the powerful attraction she was feeling for him. In fact, looking at him now, his eyes glowing behind the golden mask he wore, Kat was certain she had seen him before .. but where was the question. For some strange reason she found herself fighting to let him go and a blush began to creep under her skin. She desperately hoped he wouldn’t notice but it was much too late for that. Kat was an open book and Nazem was reading her from cover to cover. “Would you care to dance Kat?” he asked in a gentle tone. Oh God his voice was absolutely incredible .. and his unmistakeable accent was driving her insane with desire .. doing things to her body that she couldn’t control. Kat looked over at Krish (who must have sensed her conflicting emotions) and saw that he was motioning her to go. “Please .. enjoy yourself. That’s the whole reason why I invited you here - so that you could have fun and forget about Sariel .. even if it’s only for one night.”

Kat turned back to Nazem and whispered “I would love to.” And with that he led her to the dance floor. The next thing she knew, Kat was in his arms and he was holding her close as they danced to the rhythm of a familiar love song. Kat leaned in towards him, intoxicated by the way he smelled, the feel of his warm skin against hers and the firm touch of his hands against the bare skin of her back. This must be what heaven feels like she thought to herself .. and if that was the case, Kat wished for the first (and last time) .. that this night would never end.

”I was only twelve. But I knew how much I loved her. It was that love that comes before all significance of body and morals. It was that love that was no more bad than wind and sea and sand lying side by side forever. It was made of all the warm long days together at the beach, and the humming quiet days of droning education at the school. All the long autumn days of the years past when I carried her books home from school.”

The very moment Kat could catch her breath, she looked up and smiled at Krish, so relieved to finally be there and more than eager to get the festivities underway. Krish’s hugs were so tight it was all Kat could do to keep from squirming, hoping he would let go soon and she could come up for air. Sometimes he just didn’t realize how strong he was. Finally he let go and stood back to get a good long look at her. “Very nice!” she heard him say as he twirled her around to get a better look. “I know somebody who is going to be very happy to see you.” Kat looked puzzled at this remark and immediately asked Krish who it was that could possibly be happy to see her. As far as she knew they didn’t share any common friends and everyone he had invited tonight was a complete stranger to her. Krish didn’t answer but instead took Kat’s hand to lead her inside, turning at the last minute to wink knowingly back at her. It was the kind of wink that Kat had come to associate with trouble!

Against her better judgement she followed him into the house, her mind in a race to figure out just what he had planned. What devious scheme could he possibly have in mind that would make this a night she wouldn’t soon forget? After all it was just like Krish to hold out until he had her exactly where he wanted her. And more times than not “exactly where he wanted her” was never a place she wanted to be.

As the pair moved further along the corridor, Kat began to notice the gradual dimming of the overhead lights. At the same time she distinctly heard the soft click of a door closing behind her and turned quickly to find herself standing at the top of an elegant spiral staircase. Each step had been draped in luxurious red velvet, and it flowed like an endless river into the darkness below. From where she stood, the view was intoxicating and the stairs seemed to wind endlessly downward .. but to where - well that remained to be seen.

It wasn’t long before Kat began to experience a vertigo like sensation and panic gripped her when she realized that the shadows were about to swallow her whole. She spun around to see whether Krish was still behind her, a single thought repeating over and over in her mind .. “God please don’t leave me alone in this crazy place. Anything but that!”

She could feel the darkness shift as though it were alive and the next thing she knew, Krish’s strong hands were reaching out to remove the wrap from around her shoulders. His grip on Kat was firm but reassuring as he said “Don’t be scared luv, just go and enjoy yourself. And when you get downstairs, you’ll find a surprise waiting for you. Soon you’ll understand why I asked you to come alone.”

At this point it was all Kat could do to keep from turning around and running the other way - the fear threatening to overwhelm her completely at any moment … but she stood her ground as a cold shiver passed through her like an electric current. This was definitely more than she had bargained for when she accepted her invitation to the party. However Kat was nothing if not determined, and tonight she was going to prove to Krish that she was more than up to his challenge. His first mistake was underestimating just who he was playing against - his second was assuming she was so vulnerable that she would give up and concede to him the victory. Kat was willing to bet that by the time the evening was over, he was going to know exactly who was holding all the cards. Taking a deep breath, she smiled to herself, envisioning the look on his face when once again she managed to beat him at this own game. This was going to be sweet indeed - and with that thought in mind, Kat prepared to brave the unknown and find the surprise that Krish had told her was waiting at the bottom of the stairs.

No sooner had she placed one delicate foot upon the spiral staircase when a blinding beam of light appeared overhead. Kat was taken completely by surprise when the spotlight found her and everything else was plunged into darkness. From this point on, she had no choice but to become the centre of attention .. whether she wanted to or not. Krish had thrown out the challenge. The game was on, and neither one of them planned on taking prisoners!

As Kat made her way slowly down the stairs, the haunting notes of a beautiful song filled the air - their source, an unseen orchestra somewhere below. The sweet melody drifted up towards her, enveloping her completely in its magical embrace and she began to feel as though she really was lost in a dream. A dream so familiar she could have sworn she’d lived this moment before. Kat’s heart beat wildly in her chest, her eyes widening in surprise as she looked up to see that all eyes were now upon her, watching her every move through the darkness. This was definitely not what Kat had in mind when she thought about making a grand entrance tonight. Not even in her wildest dreams had she ever imagined anything close to this and now her thoughts centred around making sure that she didn’t trip over the flowing layers of her gown as she moved carefully down the stairs.

When Kat finally arrived at the bottom of the staircase .. she had to wait a few moments before moving forward, allowing time for her eyes to adjust to the dim lighting. When they did she was completely taken aback, astounded by the sheer opulence of the room in which she now stood. It seemed as though every square inch of the Grand Ballroom had been transformed and adorned with the sweetest smelling candles in a variety of shapes and sizes. Crystal chandeliers reflected that candlelight and sparkled like diamonds .. champagne flowed, laughter filled the room and people began to press in closer and closer, annointing her with a dizzying mixture of heat and seduction. All in all the effect was breathtaking and Kat felt as though she had just stepped through a dream portal into some kind of fairytale world.

Sensuality and anticipation flowed like wine - and the night had only just begun. Whatever Krish had planned for her this evening, Kat was more than ready to meet the challenge head on!

”The wind outside nested in each tree, prowled the sidewalks in invisible treads like unseen cats. Tom Skelton shivered. Anyone could see that the wind was a special wind this night, and the darkness took on a special feel because it was All Hallows’ Eve. Everything seemed cut from soft black velvet or gold or orange velvet. Smoke panted up out of a thousand chimneys like the plumes of funeral parades. From kitchen windows drifted two pumpkin smells: gourds being cut, pies being baked.”

The fortune Queen of New Orleans
Was brushing her cat in her black limousine
On the backseat were scratches from
The marks of men her fortune she had won
Couldn’t see through the tinted glass
She said “Home James” and he hit the gas
I followed her to some darkened room
She took my money, she said I’ll be with you soon

Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one
Danced to her gypsy music till her brew was done
Dark Lady played black magic till the clock struck on the twelve
She told me more about me then I knew myself

She dealt two cards, a Queen and a Three
And mumbled some words that were so strange to me
And then she turned up a Two-Eyed Jack
My eyes saw red but the card still stayed black
She said the man you love is secretly true
To someone else who is very close to you
My advice is that you leave this place
Never come back and forget you ever saw my face

Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one
Danced to her gypsy music till her brew was done
Dark Lady played black magic till the clock struck on the twelve
She told me more about me then I knew myself

So I ran home and crawled in my bed
I couldn’t sleep because of all the things she said
Then I remembered her strange perfume
And how I smelled it was in my own room!
So I sneaked back and caught her with my man
Laughing and kissing till they saw the gun in my hand
The next thing I knew they were dead on the floor
Dark Lady would never turn a card up anymore

Dark Lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one
Danced to her gypsy music till her brew was done
Dark Lady played black magic till the clock struck on the twelve
She told me more about me than I knew myself

The next few hours were uneventful as they made their way to Krish’s country home. The fog had grown thicker and Kat was now unable to see more than a few feet beyond the frosted windows of the limousine. She could discern the faint outline of other vehicles rushing past them, and the occasional neon glare of the streetlights afforded a brief glimpse of the shifting landscape, but nothing more. Completely forgetting her earlier encounter with the limo driver - Kat began to relax .. and as she did so her thoughts returned once again to the festivities ahead. She could feel the excitement welling up within her and the curiosity was becoming more than she could bear. If they didn’t get there soon, Kat felt as though she might go crazy with anticipation.

It was at that moment that the car turned sharply to the right and Kat knew immediately that they had left the main highway and were now travelling down a little used back road. There were numerous ruts and pot holes that shook the car from side to side and she had to hold on to the edge of the seat to keep from being jostled about. The darkness here was complete. There was no artificial lighting to lend a sense of security and the only visible illumination was that which came from the full moon above.

Kat couldn’t help herself and she turned quickly to roll down the window, hoping against hope to find a familiar landmark or at least something that would help to identify where they were. To her surprise she could just make out the shadows of the thick oak trees which stood in a line, one after the other, each one bordering the road so that their leaves formed a canopy against the night sky. It was as though the darkness had become trapped within their borders and the only light that could penetrate was that which came from the moon above . As they sped along, something flashed briefly at the edge of her vision and she leaned forward, squinting through the darkness, curious to know what it could possibly be. The fog had cleared just enough so that she could make out a rather sizeable lake just beyond the main road. It’s dark waters seemed to sparkle, dance and play under the gentle caress of the moon. Kat smiled inwardly to herself, enjoying the sense of serenity it afforded. It seemed like a welcoming oasis in an endless desert of darkness. Rolling up the window once again, she leaned back in the seat to await their arrival at Krish’s home. It surely couldn’t be that much further she thought to herself. It felt as though they had already been travelling for hours and she was eager to get out and stretch after such a long ride.

Just then the limo came to a sudden stop and the sound of gravel crunching under tires died away leaving only an eerie quiet to take its place. Kat’s eyes widened with surprise as the car came to a standstill and the silence was complete. It was quite unexpected and yet she was secretly glad that the long journey was finally over and she could get out and breathe in the refreshing night air. She pulled her wrap tightly around her shoulders and waited anxiously for the driver to come around once again and open the door. Thankfully she didn’t have long to wait! But this time she did not allow him to touch her and she instinctively pulled away from his outstretched hand, carefully avoiding his eyes as she gathered the velvet layers of her dress around her. With one swift movement she was out of the car and standing in the driveway that fronted Krish’s beautiful home. As if on cue, the warm October winds stirred to caress her bare skin like the touch of a long forgotten lover and Kat closed her eyes, revelling in the feeling as a delicious shiver ran the entire length of her body. It was incredible and she took a deep breath so as to draw in the crisp invigorating scent of Autumn. She spun around to let the air awaken every inch of her body - feeling so alive in that moment it was unbelievable. She felt at one with the night .. a of the darkness.

Smiling once again she reluctantly opened her eyes to thank the driver for the ride. But as she turned around she could not believe what she saw .. there was no one in sight! Not only was the driver gone, but the mysterious car as well. How could that possibly be she wondered? They were both here only moments ago and there was no noise to indicate that a car had left. The sound would have been unmistakeable and not something one could easily have missed. Again Kat wondered if the night was playing tricks on her mind - or perhaps she really HAD travelled here in a car driven by the Undead. The thought itself made the small hairs on the back of her neck stand on end .. and Kat gathered her skirts, running as quickly as she could towards the flag stone steps leading up to the well lighted mansion.

Krish was an avid lover and even as she ran full tilt towards the house, Kat couldn’t help but notice the huge stable he had built just off to the side of the house. back riding was one of Kat’s passions and she made a mental note to ask Krish if she could drop by one day so that they might go riding together in the foothills. Somehow she had the feeling that he would welcome the company and would never miss an opportunity to spend time with her alone - no matter what the reason. But before Kat could reach the top of the stairs, the front door opened and the sounds of laughter and music spilled out onto the verandah. A dark figure emerged from the house and Kat immediately recognized it as Krish. He extended his hand towards her and pulled her close to place a gentle kiss upon her cheek. “Welcome Kat, my sweetest friend” he said in a voice which seemed to contradict the sensual look she saw in his eyes. “Where on earth have you been? I have been waiting for you .. forever.”

”Even a man who is pure of heart and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolf bane blooms and the autumn moon is bright.” ~~ Sir John Talbot

We get it on most every night
When that moon is big and bright
It’s a supernatural delight
Everybody’s dancing in the moonlight
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody’s feeling warm and bright
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancing in the moonlight

Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody’s feeling warm and bright
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancing in the moonlight

Dancing in the moonlight

Everybody here is out of sight
They don’t bark and they don’t bite
They keep things loose, they keep ‘em tight
Everybody was dancing in the moonlight

Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody’s feeling warm and bright
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancing in the moonlight

Everybody
Dancing in the moonlight
Dancing in the moonlight
Everybody’s feeling warm and bright
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancing in the moonlight

”Do you believe in destiny? That even the powers of time can be altered for a single purpose?” ~~ Dracula

The evening shadows stretched long and dark across the bedroom floor as Kat searched for the pumpkin patchouli candles that she loved so much. Getting dressed in their soft glow always made her feel so comforted - and tonight she needed that feeling in abundance. Her nerves were on edge and she could see her hands were shaking.

Kat never thought an event such as this would ever make her feel so incredibly uneasy. After all she had always wanted to experience the mystery and magic of a masquerade ever since she could remember - and now that she was actually going .. well she couldn’t stop herself from shaking with a combination of excitement and fear like she had never known before. God how she wished for Sariel to come now and hold her tight, calming her nerves and sending that warm, wonderful feeling throughout her entire body like he used to do when they were together.

She scolded herself for having such thoughts - their relationship was over now and she had to move on with her life. And this party was just the beginning. All she needed now was to remain focused and not let her thoughts stray to a place where she could allow him back in. It just opened her up to fresh hurt everytime she did.

Kat walked over to the bed to pick up the satin ball gown that she would wear tonight and held it up against her body, turning from side to side in front of her full length mirror. The dress was a floor length gown of the deepest red .. a shade of crimson so dark it appeared almost black. It had an off the shoulder design and a very low cut neckline with corset and tight fitting bodice. Kat absolutely loved the way the fabric clung to every one of her soft curves when she tried it on at Malabar’s that first time and she wasted no time in making the decision to buy it for the party tonight.

Layers upon layers of soft fabric cascaded to the floor and Kat knew the first time she put it on that it was going to be very difficult for any mortal man to resist her charm. Her breasts fairly strained against the ties that crisscrossed the front of the dress and she could see the gentle rise and fall of the fabric each time she took a breath. She smiled inwardly at the thought of all the attention she was going to get and as she shimmied into the dress, she suddenly remembered that she had also bought a garter to wear underneath. Kat lifted the dress to slide it up the length of one shapely leg until it wrapped snugly around her upper thigh. It was the finishing touch - and now she was ready.

Once Kat had the dress on, she surveyed the effect in the mirror and was extremely pleased with what she saw. Gorgeous!! - the effect was simply stunning! She twirled and watched as the dress billowed out and swirled around her in a crimson cloud. She had pinned her hair up with diamond studded pins and when the light caught them they sparkled like the brightest stars. A few strategically placed strands of hair cascaded down her back, curling seductively to frame her face and accentuate her lovely neck. Yes, Kat had to admit she looked devilishly irresistible and with one last check in the mirror, she moved to spray a little of her favourite perfume on her neck, applying a gentle mist along her wrists and the tender area behind her knees. Perfect! Nothing left now but to wait for her ride.

The mask Kat had chosen for tonight was made with delicate white lace and designed so that it covered the upper part of her face only - accentuating the blue of her eyes even as it hid her identity from the rest of the party-goers. Another perfect choice. It was all coming together, just as she knew it would and from somewhere deep inside her she knew that this would be a night she wouldn’t soon forget!

A quick check out the window revealed that the limo Krish was sending to pick her up had arrived. It was sitting right outside and Kat wondered silently to herself how long it had been waiting there (she was sure she hadn’t heard it drive up).

Kat blew out the candle, grabbed her wrap and made her way outside to the waiting car. The sound of her shoes on the steps outside seemed unusually loud now and she could hear them echo through the eerie stillness that surrounded her.

A thick fog had appeared from out of nowhere and swirled playfully around her feet like an exuberant puppy .. wrapping itself around the lamp posts and effectively blocking everything from sight .. everything that is except for the limo which stood out in stark contrast to the pale grey fog . How odd she thought - that shouldn’t have happened - but explaining this anomaly was not the most urgent thing on her mind right now.

Kat approached the car - waiting for the driver to come around and open the back door to help her inside. When he did, she couldn’t help but notice how tall he was - how pale his skin, and how stern and sharp his features were. And the way he looked at her sent waves of unease rushing through her body. Kat couldn’t help but think of how much he resembled a vampire as she looked back at him .. a vampire with an eternal hunger and an insatiable lust for blood.

This was crazy Kat thought to herself. It had to be the night causing her to feel this way. After all, Halloween was a time when the dead could walk among the living virtually unnoticed - and nothing was as it seemed. Illusion was everywhere and if one wasn’t careful it was so easy to be taken in.

It took an enormous effort of will to tear her gaze from the hypnotic effect of the pale stranger’s eyes .. eyes so deep and dark that nothing reflected in their murky depths. Kat felt as though she was under a spell until the driver reached out to touch her elbow, guiding her gently into the backseat. As he did so a wave of dizziness rushed over her with such force, Kat fairly fell into the car .. and he closed the door behind her, got behind the wheel .. and they sped away into the night bound for destinations unknown.

”Far away on some distant shore, at night while I lay dreaming, I see a man with eyes so blue - but within them lies dark meaning. I never know just when he’ll come, towards me as I’m sleeping, but I’m certain not too long from now he’ll catch my soul and keep me. And soon we’ll ride to his summer house, that lies within the clearing - and never more will they find me here, telling stories of my dreaming.”
