Ratargul is one of the few swamp forests in the world.

Adventurous tourists prefer to visit this swamp forest during Monsoon time by boat. Others would be happy to go there during the Winter season.

Ratargul is the habitat of birds, lizards, monkeys, and snakes too. It is the only freshwater swamp forest located in my country.

None of the photos of Ratargul posted below was shot by me.

Even if you say nothing
I hear you say
I am your beloved
You have chosen me
Chosen me!

The first intoxication
The first fever
It is a new love
A new waiting!
In what shape am I now
Tell me, O restless heart of mine!

Should I fly somewhere in the winds,
Or should I swing somewhere in the clouds?
Should I blend the earth and sky?
Tell me, friends, what should I do or not do?

He talks in such a way
That colors the dream in thousand forms
Causing me to get lost in him
And he kisses me lovingly.

P for Pineapple

Pineapple is widely cultivated almost everywhere in Bangladesh which is my homeland. Madhupur region, located near the city of Dhaka, is the largest pineapple growing area in Bangladesh. Perhaps, my readers would not be interested to visit the pineapple gardens with me. However, I am sure that they will be interested to see the pineapple market and how the pineapples are carried there by the farmers.

At seven in the morning, the pineapple market in Madhupur turns bustling. If you stand somewhere on the highway near the marketplace, you will be amazed to see how the farmers carry their products to the market! They are mostly cyclists!

I have posted below some such pictures for my readers to see. Unfortunately, the farmers do not get good prices for their produces as the market is a wholesale one. The price of each pineapple is less than One US Dollar during harvesting season.

Google says that:
“Oranges are a good source of vitamin C and B complex. – They lower cholesterol and control blood sugar levels. – Orange peels are highly nutritious, fiber-rich, and edible.”

Mandarin Oranges (Photo #1) are my favorite citrus fruit since my boyhood days. The habit continues.

Foto Friday: Letter C

The third letter of the English alphabet is C.
We all know that some words starting with the letter C are difficult to spell correctly if one is not careful enough.

Though my mother tongue is not English, I was obliged to learn English for obvious reasons when I was a born in British India. However, I could never understand why the word “chic” should not be written as “shik”? Similarly, what about the word “coin”? Why should we not write it as “Koin” instead of “Coin” when the letter C in this case sounds like K? In some cases, C may sound like S, K, Sh. It may remain silent too in a particular case.

Perhaps, an English linguist can explain the problem properly.

Meanwhile, I take the opportunity to upload the picture of the Ceiling Fan mounted in the middle of one of the rooms of my home as my only choice for this week’s Foto Friday entry.

Cheers and be Cool.

I traveled miles, for many a year
I spent a lot in lands afar
I’ve gone to see the mountains
The oceans, I’ve been to view
But I haven’t seen with these eyes
Just two steps from my home lies
On a sheaf of paddy grain
A glistening drop of dew.

The message communicated by the Bengali Nobel laureate poet R N Tagore in the above poem is true to many of us who had to visit various countries of the world either for business purposes or as a globe-trotter. Believe me, though I had the opportunity to travel from time to time, it never occurred to me to see many interesting objects in the small town where I grew up.
