Up on the hill a pine tree stands
alone, unnoticed by us all;
morose and saddened, as it fends
beneath a gray sky, unconcerned.
And wishing, when its journey ends,
of finding solace ‘neath the earth.

At dawn, there is no morning song
to greet the dewy, gloomy land
because the birds refuse to throng
a lone tree far and high above.
Within the mist that gathers strong
a quiet hill forlornly sits.

A leaf aloft goes wafting by
as strong winds pound the hill and tree;
it’s free at last to search the sky
for butterflies and birds and bees;
those things that it has yet to eye
since springing up among the boughs.

A man cannot stand all alone
no matter what his strength may be;
for when the winds of fate has blown,
tears only bring back memories.
Too late to dig up what’s been sown,
too late to turn back what must be.

I woke up this morning to find my pink slippers missing (Yes, I wear pink slippers). Later, I found them in the hall, neatly hung up.

p.s. They say these are Lady’s Slippers.

Have any of you ever seen a bearded orchid?
I don’t know the name of this orchid with a long beard which I spotted at an orchid show at the Lake Gardens but I think you would agree with me that it is probably ……….the Santa Claus Orchid. Merry Christmas.

I met this fellow a few days ago at the Lake Gardens while at an Orchid Show. Unlike the previous bird, this one has a white-coloured bill and was just as noisy.

Pic 1:
The durian tree can grow up to 50 metres in height and a mature tree can bear up to a few hundred fruits. The fruits are about 1 foot long and six inches wide and can weigh up to 3 kilos. In Malaysia, the fruits are collected when the ripe fruit falls to the ground.
Pic 2 and 3:
The rambutan tree can grow up to 20 metres in height and bear thousands of fruits in clusters. The rambutans are plucked when almost ripe because the ripe fruit is watery and pulpy.
