I cut two identical pieces, I cut a notch in each. After staining and varnishing, I place them together. I've pre-drilled a small hole through them and once assembled, I insert a small wire which I bend to form a loop to be able to hang them onto the chime. I hope these post.

Ok,, I took down my last post, basically it was just a rant, so now, on to happier things.
A couple of days ago, I and some other chatters were talking about childhood memories and it got me to thinking,, especially about Christmas.
Some of my fondest memories of Christmas weren't about the gifts. They were about the fun I had making the tree decorations.
Construction paper garlands, stinging popcorn garlands. We used to take those little tin discs that we got at the hardware store and covered them with old Christmas wrapping paper to make ornaments.
After I became an adult and my were old enough to help, we made salt dough ornaments using cookie cutters, then bake them and paint them.
One year I made wooden Christmas cards. I hand painted a scene on them then wrote a message on the inside again using a paint brush. I think my Mom still has the one I made for her,, that was over 30 years ago.
Just recently, I made wooden Christmas ornaments for my Grandchildren. Each one had a different scene and I put their names on them along with the year.
One of the BEST Christmas's we had was the year we gave "gag" gifts and I'll explain,,
That year, a lot of funny things had happened. It started with a broccoli and rice casserole. My mom had cooked it and the broccoli had just literally decentagrated turning the casserole a nice shade of green,, it was good but one of my brothers refused to even taste it.
On Christmas, Mom gave him an egg carton filled with coconut fudge, that she turned green,, on purpose.
That same brother received, from me, a jar of Texas Toe Jam. A mixture of Peanut butter and strawberry preserves,, He had a thing about toes,,, I'll leave it at that.
On Mother's day that year, my first wife and I had bought Mom a new fridge to replace the old one that had been in the house back when my Grand father built the house back in the 70's,,the old one was "doodoo" brown, the new one was white. anyway,,
The new fridge was going to be delivered around noon that day so we had my step-dad at the time, keep Mom away until it was delivered. Mom had wanted to come home for lunch and wanted a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a Dr. Pepper. Cecile, my step-dad, took her to lunch instead, and man was she upset when she came home that afternoon,, so much so that she didn't even notice the new WHITE fridge,, which had this huge RED ribbon on it.
The way my Mom's house is et up, you can see the kitchen from the front door or at least the fridge,
Mom grabbed our Grand who was with us that day and was holding her. She STLL had not noticed the new fridge. When she finally turned to reach for the fridge door, she ALMOST dropped the baby,, ALMOST I said, I had to jump up quick to and catch her,. I'll never forget the look on Mom's face,, surprise and disbelief all in one. She stood there for a moment with her mouth wide open.. Priceless.
Her Christmas gift from my brother was a large can of chicken noodle soup, placed in a bowl with .75 cents under can so as to rattle when she picked it up.
BEST Christmas EVER. We all laughed at the stories behind each gift and to this day, we still look back and laugh then smile,, can't put a price tag on that.
So,, here's a challenge for you readers,, Take a moment,, think back, then write your most memorable moment, be it Christmas, a Birthday, an Anniversary,, whatever it happens to be,, If it was the BEST EVER,, share,, I personally would love to read about it.
