I remember the days of Cosmopolitan when Burt Reynolds opted post nude in the centerfold of the magazine.

I bought a poster and tacked it up on the ceiling above my grandmother's bed. Later I heard her yelling, "Get that !@#!%(!!! thing out of my bedroom!"

Fast Forward, my mother flew California for my clothing optional wedding.
Once again, "Nan was on the phone screaming, "!@#$##**! I took my mother to a male strip show. My grandmother advised my mother that she was "being bad."
My mother needed a great big towel at the nudist resort where the wedding was held but made sure that she wore the Treehouse Nudist Resort t-shirt for her bowling league when she got back to Arkansas

I suppose it's better to be a 'has been' than a 'never was.' Most of my life, I have prided myself with being in reasonable good shape despite a few politically incorrect curves. I have never been a fashionable twig btch and that might have been a good thing.

However since I entered my sixth decade, things have changed. My mind wants to do all those exciting adventures like bungie jumping but my body says "You got to be kidding.

Yesterday morning I had to go to Outpatient for a hip injection. The doctor and I were talking about skydiving. Her wants to skydive. The doctor is concerned. I pointed out that beginning skydivers start with an experienced tandem skydiver which is much safer than when I was doing it.

She responded with, "Yeah but you can still break a shinbone or knee from landing." I told her that you have to know how to fall. I learned how to fall in dance class in high school. "Dang! I wish I could fall like that now. If I tried it now, I would break every bone in my leg along with my hip. Life on life's terms.

As the doctor was injecting the chemicals into the hip, it started to smart and burn. My LaMaze training came into mode. She asked me if I was okay. "I am trying not to say Firetruck" I responded. It could be much worse. It could have been one of those horrible NG Tubes. I had one of those a few months ago. Now, Big Macs are no longer on the menu but that doesn't break my heart. There are so many going through much worse than I am.

Every year since 20, I work at the West Virginia State Fair. I don't always get a spot in the Employee Parking Lot so I learned take photos of landmarks near my car so that I can always find it at night.

Charlie Daniels is always a big hit at the Fair but he won't be there this year because he stepped over to the other side. Godspeed Charlie. I used to go with my late hubby because he LOVED the Platters who were as he was. I had a ticket see Alabama in 2019. The concert was cancelled because one of the band members had health issues. Jamie Johnson was a reasonable facsimile.

My younger travels with a concession company and works at fairs in various states. He is currently in Florida. I won't see him for months until his company lands at WV State Fair.
He says 2020 was the longest vacation that he has ever had but he is glad be back on the road.

I use the $$$$$ that I make finance my travelling adventures. I try go somewhere that I've never been at least once a year. That didn't happen in 2020. If all goes well, I will get out of West Virginia in 2021.

Thoughts About Mom's Day

Mother's Day is a celebration of my own adventures with Motherhood in addition to honoring the Mothers in my life.

My biological mother and I had similar challenges but I was fortunate enough to have the resources and tools to deal with them better than she did. We had a troubled relationship. I did the best that I could to amend the relationship but I don't feel the sentiments that others have toward thier mothers.

I do have empathy for her I understand her a lot better in my latter years than I did in my youth. Anyone growing with the kind of challenges that we did will have issues. PTSD for sure.

There have been other mother figures in my life. A neighbor, Mrs. McCullough, Mrs. Goldberg, a speech therapist and Annie, my XVII Step Spiritual Advisor.

The last time I saw my mother was during my Wedding. We went Psychic Fairs and one of the readers introduced her her Spirit Guide. It meant so much her. We went a male strip show and she laughed when my grandmother told her that she was being BAD!!!
We went to the Ventura County Fair. It was a free day for Seniors. She and my hubby both got in free. She was VI years older than him. He and I had a XiV year difference.

Years ago, my first husband hid in the closet from my mother. He was in that closet for two hours. If I had know that he was in the closet, I would have invited her to stay longer.

For some reason, Las Vegas was a Mecca for my Great Grandmother, my Grandmother and my Mother. When I was searching for DAR membership, I had to collect Death Certificates. They stepped over the other side in Las Vegas.

I remember my mother's wake, five siblings were there. There was a realization that the Great Grandparents, Grandparents, and Parents were among the ancestors. We were suddenly the elders. That is a major Rite of Passage.

Astrology has been an interest of mine since I was a . It is actual fun to to put together the planets, signs, houses & interrupt how they interact with each other. It is not Abracadabra, Zippity Zap! This is your fate so deal with it. It can be like a weather report which helps us be more prepared for the rain.

When dealing with an -line bully don't respond, don't interact and don't engage
. This is not easy but it is doable. The first response want defend yourself but it is counter-productive communicate with a bully. The bully does not function with the mindset of a mature adult.. The bully may be an adult on the outside, on the inside they are like ill-mannered who's never grew - and probably never will. Bullies and harassers often have disordered thinking patterns.

Keep documentation of the abuse in a file. When the time comes take action, this file is your evidence. Bullies, especially cyberbullies, are obsessive people and if their account is closed down, they may start another profile so expect receive harassing messages from that profile. This can later be compared harassing messages already received identify the bully. There will be similar words, phrases and strategies occurring.

Don’t try deal with the bully yourself. Even mature experienced adults often cannot handle bullying and harassment by themselves. Get a third party intercede and take the bully task.

When people use bullying behaviors they project their own weaknesses, failings and shortcomings others. In other words, they are telling you about themselves by fabricating an accusation based on something they themselves have done wrong. When you are being harassed on-line, ask the question, "What is this person revealing about themselves this time?"

When the timing is right, take action. Prepare carefully and strike hard. Ignoring the bully may cause them lose interest and find an easier target torment but don't count on it. The cyberbully may obsessed to the point that that s/he cannot and will not let go. You will have to make that person let go, but only through swift, hard, action. It is best not to deal with the abuser yourself.

never try to medi negoti conciliate or otherwise deal with a bully or stalker yourself

. Always remember Rule #1: don't respond, don't interact and don't engage.

Ignore Button,
Ban Button
and Report Abuse

Religion and Setting Boundaries

I remember my days as a Wal-Mart Cashier. Folks were constantly handing me religious pamphlets. They would do the same to the other cashiers who were ironically church going ladies. I would question why we are targeted as heretics.

Fast forwarding to current times. The past month, I have been getting handwritten notes in the mail containing scripture. I don't know this woman nor do we have any mutual friends on FB. So how the heck did she get my address. The possibilities are the DAR or GOP membership lists. She could also be have checked Tax Records but that seems tedious.

I checked my mail yesterday evening and there was more mail from her. This time it was a religious pamphlet. I am a total fan of the First Amendment and the Virginia Statue for Religious Freedom. I have quite a few ancestors who were banished, jailed, and beaten because of religious beliefs. Most of them relocated to the American Colonies because they wanted to live their religions in peace.

Nevertheless, these letters are annoying. I can respond and request that she respect my boundaries or start throwing her mail in the trash. Why would someone who does not know me or belong to any of my circle of friends and community decide that I need notes that lecture.

I am very active in my Quaker Community and it's a path that works best for me. There are no great sins in my life. It can be quite boring at time. I REALLY don't have to justify my life or spiritual path to someone who is clueless.

Regardless, I have to take the High Road no matter how I decide to deal with it. If I compare it to a few of the bloggers - experience as taught me that the less energy and the less I engage , the better. Haters are going to hate because that what haters do.

I think I will write her a note, respectfully asking her to respect my 1st Amendment Right as I do hers. If she continues to spam me with this stuff, it immediately goes in the trash

Photo Friday - WATER!!!

It is ironic how a community devastated by water needs water for recovery from the aftermath. Greenbrier County was by the 1000 year flood in 20Xvi. I was coming back from a DAR function when the Flood Warning came on my girlfriend's car radio. I've heard it before and did not panic.

I usually take the scenic Route 219 home but decided make a stop at Wal-Mart the way home. I opted skip the trip Wal-Mart and jumped Interstate 64 head home instead.

When I got off of Interstate 64 and started going down Route 219 - It was like the scene from a Sci_Fi Movie. The roads were falling apart all around me. It was one of those so called coincidences that I took I-64 instead of heading to Rt-219 all the way home.

I would have been caught in a really dangerous situation if I had taken the usual way home.

Luckily, I live on a hill so our building was safe. That was not the case for so many living below. I wish that I could have been one of folks helping to clean the debris and rebuilding but that is not a physical reality for anymore.

At least I was able do a little something. Many of the folks in my building don't have cars. There was no water or electricity. I was able find and deliver water for those who needed it.

It is amazing how those disasters do bring the community together. There was a church group from Marshall County, West Virginia who drove across the state to help. They were among many. They made my mission of helping those in my building easier.
