My plan for my scheduled hip replacement was to take the train to Charleston, West Virginia, Uber it over to the hospital, get the surgery, Uber it back to the train station, and walk the distance from the station to my home. Luckily my friends aka Earth Angels knew better and made the path a whole lot easier. Before the surgery, I was using Naproxen Sodium and Acetaminophen like M&M's. After the surgery, I took prescription pain killers as prescribed. It was back to the Naproxen Sodium and Acetaminophen for awhile. Now I don't need anything at all.

Ironically, my barrister friend is waiting to get hip replacement surgery hopefully the latter part of this month. He was planning on dealing with it alone. I know better. I offered to stay at his place and help him get through the difficult part. He thinks he will need help for only a few days. I know better.

I assured him the help is unconditional. He doesn't have to pay me, love me, or anything. I had earth angels help me get through those difficult days, now it's my time to be someone else's earth angel. It will actually be fun to have a man to pamper for a week or so. He says he doesn't want a relationship which is fine. If I can't have the love story, I'll go to the Library of Congress and find a good book instead.

Happily, I don't have to hop on the train and head to Washington D.C. I think the Library of Congress is Awesome and so it the DAR Library in D.C. Still, My Scorpio Barrister had a gold mine in his book cases.

He suggested a movie on YouTube, A True Story about a College President that taught when he was attending. I searched for the book that the movie was based on. $297 Wow! He gave me the book telling me that he had an extra on. Now he has me hooked on Stephen King books.

So he is NOT planning to have a love connection or even a FiretrUCK buddy at this point in his life. So we are offically book buddies.

Last week, a girlfriend and I went to the movies. Magic Mike was playing. It was about dancing scantily clad men. Years ago, my mother flew in from Arkansas for my wedding. I took her to a male strip show. She loved it. Every Christmas I ask God for scantily clad men bearing gifts of chocolate. Every Christmas, I don't get scantily clad men bearing gifts of chocolate. My Higher Power understands my politically incorrect sense of humor.

Today a girlfriend and I went to movies to see Jesus Revolution. This took place in Southern California. I was in the middle of that movement in my youth. I became a 12 Stepper when I was 21 thus being alcohol/drug Free was a given thus hanging around Jesus Freaks was a good scenario. In the movie they were doing baptisms at Pirate's Cove. I recall Pirate's Cove being a clothing optional beach.

So I've gone from Magic Mike to the Jesus Revolution. Now it's Lent. I have always observed Lent even though I am not a practicing Catholic. I really don't indulged in any major vices, Contrary to what CP9 tried telling everyone in the blogs. I was NOT diddling with a Republican a few years back. We dated briefly and exchanges a few kisses but never moved beyond first base before he started ghosting me.

I usually give up desserts for Lent but this year I am looking to acquire a few vices instead. I would love to give up celibacy for Lent. The last several years have been vice-free but boring. There is actually only one man that I desire to share that vice. That is going to take an absolute miracle. He's having hip replacement in late March. Happiness would be sharing salted caramel ice cream with a skyclad Scorpio Barrister during Holy Week.

Yesterday was a busy but very productive day. The day before a 12 Step Girlfriend asked if I would be available for a day at the Aqua Center. I was committed to accompany another 12 Step Girlfriend to a hospital in Virginia where she was having a medical procedure. I was driving her home. We had to leave at 6 am in the morning arrived in Virginia at 7:30 am. She was out by 9 am and we were home by 10:30. I was able to go to the Aqua Center after all. Yeah!!!!!

I picked up new hearing aids the day before. They have blue tooth features. I was able to work out in the weight room while listening to Jazz Musician Chuck Mangione before jumping in the water. Sadly it doesn't work in the pool. When I first tried it, I heard music blaring. I had to ask the receptionist if she was hearing anything. She wasn't.

Afterwards we started talking about organizing an Aqua Center running team for the Chocolate 10K Run. Awesome. Maybe by April I may actually be able to run even if it is Galloway Style. Either way I am sure that the ambulance will be following closely behind me.

Upon leaving the Aqua Center, 12 Step Girlfriend and I went thrift shopping. It is one of my favorite activities. My Scorpio Barrister Friend called me TWICE while I was looking for bargains. Thus far, we are in the friend zone and talk about books. We were sitting in a meeting, I quoted to him, "If you were a star in the sky, you would make the face of heaven so fine that all would be in love in night." He recognized Romeo and Juliet. I expressed the desire to pour pomegranate juice all over him. He said that was Dorian Gray. I am not sure who that is but I am sure it is a literary character.

After Thrift Shopping my 12 Step Girlfriend asked me if I wanted to go to an Ash Wednesday Catholic Service with her. I always observe Lent even though I am not Catholic. It usually involves intermittent fasting and giving up sugar, and carbs. My 12 Step Girlfriend said that she is going the rosery for 40 day. I opted to make a prayer tie for 40 day. I actually make a whole lot more than in a much shorter span of time. I think I want to be a lot less altruistic. I am giving up Celibacy. That means I have 40 days to get luck.

When I first move to West Virginia, I discovered that there were city or·di·nance against doing Tarot or Astrology for a fee. Happiness is finding a loophole to deal with stupid laws.

I started making dream catchers and doing a complimentary chart and/or reading with them. It the same principle in communities where it is legal to smoke marijuana but illegal to sell it. Some enterprising folks started selling jugs of water with complimentary marijuana.

I carried that loophole onto my business on the bay. The last few years have been tough because of health issues along with grieving that affected my body. It does nothing to honor my late spouse. I would not want this for him if the scenario were reversed.

There is no "getting over it" or moving on. Time limits is not an option. Nevertheless, we build a life around that hole and continue life on life's terms - good and bad.

Four hospitalizations and two surgeries later, there may be life after Grumpy. My vitality and energy as returned. Planetary Magick is going back on the market.

Photo Friday - 5K Trial Run - Honoring MrsJoe

Traditionally when I do sporting events, I will carry prayer ties to send special prayers for a cause or individuals who need special God Shots.

I have scheduled a Valentine's Day Virtual 5K Run although realistically I will be walking it. We choose our own route and record the timing to an online site. I am doing this run to celebrate my recovery from hip replacement surgery. I am carrying prayer ties for classmates and friends who are dealing with the same struggle with mobility issues. It seems like several of my classmates and a several of my friends are dealing with pending hip/knee replacements or recovering from them. I am carrying prayer ties so that they can get an extra boost from the cosmos. The more prayer warriors the better.

So today, I decided to do a trial run (trail walk) rigorous honesty. I started from my home to the fish hatchery down the road and the hiking trail behind it. I decided to stop at the post office to ship off clothes that have outgrown me to an online consignment store. I also was sending prayer ties to MrsJoe who recently lost her husband.

MrsJoe helped me tremendously when I was dealing with my brother and later my spouse's passing. I felt so helpless and told MrsJoe - All I can do is pray. "Praying is a lot," MrsJoe reminded me. Absolutely, petitioning to the "Ultimate Deity" is the most powerful thing that we can do for our loved ones.

As I was walking to the post office to ship off the packages including Prayer Ties to Illinois, it occurred to me - "Make this 5K trial run count for something. I am doing the exact same thing that I will be doing on Valentine's Day. Honoring MrsJoe seems to be the right purpose. We all need Prayer Warriors and I like to find tangible ways to do it.

It was a beautiful walk through town and the hiking trail was incredible. I really really felt my Higher Power. A wise woman once told me "Praying is a lot." It is something that I claim and hold dear. You are very much loved MrsJoe on the Earth Walk and beyond...............

Relocation!!!! A tale of three different possibilities!!!

My landlord sent me a dubious love letter telling me of his intentions to raise my rent considerable higher by April. I sent him a notification of my intent to leave by April.
The man is a bully who tends to target women. My challenge is to find a diplomatic way to deal with him. Bullies keep going if you ignore them. Sinking to their level backfires. Thus it's time to move on.

I have considered a move to Atlanta, Georgia. I have also considered Charleston, West Virginia. There is also the possibility of moving someplace in the same community closer.

Medical care in this community is underserved. I had to travel to Charleston anyway.

My and the grandsons reside in the Atlanta area. I am sure that the medical care is much better.

I used to love to hop on the train and book a hostel in Washington D.C. for activism and lobbying adventures. Sadly, the pandemic, January 6th, and the recessions has changed all that. Atlanta and Charleston are both State Capitols. I would not need to travel to Washington D.C. to lobby.

However when I contacted Senior Apartments in Atlanta, I was told that there is a VERY long waiting list. I submitted an application in Lewisburg, West Virginia which is my local community. I was told that there is a short waiting list. I have a lot of people and places that I love in this community. Also, a pending romance with the Scorpio Barrister complicates the plans. I totally adore my Scorpio Barrister. I have known him for years but never that considered the possibility that it would go anywhere. We are still in the friend zone. Love Connections haven't worked out too well for me in the past. I should probably run like Hades.

I suspect that I will land where I am suppose to land. Life on life's terms.

Earlier this week, I was having a phone conversation with the Scorpio Barrister. He suggested that I watch a movie on YouTube. "The Secret Life of John Chapman" with Actor Ralph Waite playing the part of a Haverford College Professor who takes a sabbatical and works as a laborer and various blue collar jobs. It is a true story and he wrote a book on his experiences.

I have actually met Ralph Waite and he played the lead character in a movie called "On The Nickle," This is about a man who was a Los Angeles skid row alcoholic who found recovery and went back to skid row to save his best friend.

I watched the movie and told my Scorpio Barrister friend that I wanted to read the book, compare it to the movie and discuss it at our Book Club.

When I started looking for the book and was astonished to discover that it costed $297.00. That is not within my financial realities. I usually buy discarded books at the Library, book exchanges, or check out ThriftBooks.

"Blue-Collor Journey: A College President's Sabbatical by John R Colman was written by the Scorpio Barrister's College Professor when he attended Law School at Haverford College. I called Mr. Scorpio Barrister and told him the cost of the book. Wow! That man's got a gold mine in his book shelf. He mentioned that he had two of the books but loaned one of them out.

My girlfriend and I met him for coffee earlier today. He mentioned that he got the book back. I was thinking that he was going to loan me the book. He actually GAVE me the book. How precious.

It turns out that Haverford is a Quaker College. I invited him to attend our Quaker meeting tommorrow. I suspect that he will get along very well with our group. They are mostly PhD's, an MD, my gf with two master's degree and there is me with my humble Associated degree. I hang out with the Quakers because I love the activism and they let me keep my crystals.

Have you ever read a book based on a movie that you watched or visa versa? Which do you prefer?

Finally, Life after hip replacement surgery. Running Events have always been an important part of my being. This part of my life has been absent during the years of dealing with my problematic hip. After a few years of half measures treatments, I finally changed doctors and found one will to simply replace the problematic hip. It took a year and a requirement that I lose a whole bunch of weight but finally in November of last year, the procedure was done.

I took painkillers the first two weeks, I took Tylenol and Advil the following month and finally I don't need anything at all.

The Ironic thing is that I have been talking to several of my classmates and it seems like quite a few of them have or plan to get knee and hip replacement. I also have a Barrister friend who may or may not turn out to be a love connection who is also getting hip replacement surgery in February. I have volunteered to care for him during his recovery.

I have traditionally carried Prayer Ties when I've done running and other sporting events. I do this as a tangible way to carry special prayers for folks that need them. Native Americans filled them with tobacco but I usually fill them up with other types of herbs. Rosemary, basil, rose petals, lavender, ad infintum......

I bicycled the Greenbrier River Trail (80 Miles) with the American Lung Association. I did use Tobacco for that one to honor the memory of a woman that I cared for when she was in hospice. She died from lung disease. She passed on Lammas and her ceremony was on Friday the 13th. The woman and I were kindred souls. I make prayer ties from the tobacco from her cigarettes.

So now that I have a new hip I am trying to get my life back. I started with the local Martin Luther King March. That was about two miles.

Next on the agenda is the Valentine's Day 5K. I want a love life. I am tired of alone. It will be a Galloway Style Run which is a walk/run combination. I suspect mostly walking. This is a virtual run where I choose the route and report the timing to a website on-line. It will start at the town library to the fish hatchery where there is an awesome hiking trail behind. and back to the library. One of my prayer ties will be asking the Cosmos to bring love into my life. The other prayer ties will be for my classmates who have their own mobility challenges and surgeries.

Life After Hip Replacement and the Barrister

My plan was to take the train to Charleston, West Virginia, uber it to the hospital, get the surgery, uber it back to the train, take the train home and walk home which is about a quarter of a mile from my home. Thankfully, my Higher Power has more sense than I do. Earth Angels crossed my path. A 12 Step girlfriend and a Book Club buddy stepped in. I stayed in Charleston for a week after the surgery for the follow-up surgery before going home. I made new 12 Step friends in Charleston and found an awesome book store.

Happiness is not having to use the handicap parking lot, the riding cart in the grocery store, or even that stupid cane. I am donating it to the Haunted Farm so that it can be used to load up the corn cannon.

So now it is my time to be an Earth Angel. A barrister friend is scheduled to have hip replacement surgery hopefully in February. It was scheduled today but it had to be rescheduled because of antibiotics. I offered to provide him home care when he is released from the hospital. He said that he only needs help for a few days but I have to laugh. He has no idea what he is in for.

I am not a gourmet chef, but I do know how to find recipes on Y0UTube and FB. I know all the at home exercise and I can boss the poor Barrister as women can do. I have already done his Astrological Chart along with a Solar Return. I might have to surround him with crystals, balanced his chakras, and cleanse his aura.

So Sunday, we had a dinner date. I suggested the local Pizza Diner. I go there quite often and usually order the same thing every time. A grilled ham and cheese sandwich. He had Manicotti with lots of fancy breads. The next day, he started having severe stomach cramps and had to go to Med Express. Now his hip surgery is rescheduled because of the medication that he now has to take.

I probably owe the man an amends. If I knew that he had digestive issues, I would have never suggested the local Pizza Diner. I have the same issues. Manicotti. and fancy breads dipped in wine and vinegar would be a total disaster for me. Most of the items at that diner are on my "no no" list and apparently his as well.

My goal is to be his Earth Angel not his tormentor. So tonight,, I was experimenting on making eggs benedict on gluten free teff waffles. I was also watching videos on how to make zucchini inspired manicotti. I assured him that he doesn't have to pay me not even in trade or love me, I just want to help him. His virtue is safe.
