It was ironic when I went to a "Meet The Candidates" event for our West Virginia Governor. The two men appeared to very genuinely decent men. I would have been fine if either of them won.
Neither of them won so we had a choice between Democrat Jim Justice - Owner of the Greenbrier and GOP Candidate Bill Cole. My first inclination was to vote for Mountain Party Charlotte Pritt which means throwing the vote away but I didn't really care who won.
My level of respect for Jim Justice went up after the Thousand Year Flood that summer. I was driving home after a DAR Meets when the flooding began and it was a surreal experience. The roads were literally falling apart around me. I was talking to God a lot but finally made it home. Luckily I live on top of a hill but I could see a river rushing downward past my home into the streets below.
I live in an apartment where there are mostly homebound seniors. There was no electricity or water. I found about six bottles of water on my porch. It was my landlord trying his best to take care of his tenants. I decided that I could do better than that. I went to a disaster aid location and found water for every on my side of the building. That became my mission. I would find the water and deliver the water to my neighbors. I also found and delivered groceries for them.
I would have loved to be among some of the younger folks clearing the rubble but that is not realistic for me. I could do SOMETHING nonetheless.
The Yearly Golfing Event at the Greenbrier was cancelled. There were great big boulders all over the course. Jim Justice who owns the Greenbrier Resort opened it for people who lost their homes. The of one of my neighbors lost her job and her home. The McDonald's where she worked was totally destroyed and appears to be permanently closed. She stayed at the Greenbrier and was offered a job at the Greenbrier. I talked to Mr. Justice about the woman and thanked him for helping her. His reply "That is what we SHOULD be doing!" I went to an Election Watch at the Greenbrier and ultimately the Victory Party for Jim Justice. He said at the event that it's not about Democrat Versus Republican - It's about what is best for West Virginia.
I wish that the President/Congress/Senate in Washington DC had that attitude. Love the United States and what is best for the United States.

When I go to the "O"ld Fart Dance. I notice that all my Dancing Partners are getting girlfriends. It's like Cupid is flying over my shoulder and anyone that I dance with gets the Arrow of L "O" V E!
I did meet a Gentleman in a Cowboy Hat who sings. "Hello you devastatingly handsome man," I greeted him. I commented that I was heading to the car to get my glasses so I could determine if I had the winning raffle ticket.
"How do you know if I am handsome if you don't have your glasses" he asked. They are dollar store reading glasses but nevertheless I put them on, walked up to him and commented, "Yep, you look just like Charlie Daniels but you sing a whole lot better!"
Suddenly, he started whispering in my ear suggesting that we get together and do the wild thing. If I were looking for the Wild Thing the last place I would be looking for it is at the Old Fart Dance.
It's Alcohol Free, Close to Home and a Good Place to dance but it's been my experience that casual Whoopee in never satisfactory. No Man's Land is much better than keeping company with schmucks with just one thing on their minds.

"Would you like to go to the Opera?" I asked him.
"The OPERA!!! No Way, I only do Country! he replies.
"I might go to Nashville but NEVER the Opera!"
Nashville would be alright but what an uncultured dufus. He would not be very good at the wild thing anyway.
So.............I'll go to the Opera with a Girlfriend but Cupid and I are plotting when I get that old Redneck on the Dance Floor. The Arrow of Love is going pair him up with some old Gal who won't the difference.

Grumpy's Not So Favorite Bed & Breakfast

Grumpy was a frequent visitor, I miss him but I am glad he doesn't have to visit that place any more. I certainly was not expecting to be a guest at that place but life happens when we are making plans.
Tuesday, I had a medical appointment about my ailing hip. I was also going to ask the doctor about left shoulder pains. I grabbed the charger but forgot my cellphone. I grabbed a cup of VERY strong coffee - drove to the medical center and parked on the furthest parking lot, hobbling to the doctor's office fast as I could.
She checked my heart and immediate did an EKG Test. Tachycardia. We gotta slow that heartbeat down. The next thing that happen is a trip to the Emergency Room with the word that I would most likely be admitted.
Dang, can I go home first, get my cell phone and lap top before being admitted. Also, I really don't like hospital attire. Only if I signed out AMA and I can survive a day without a cellphone.
I was advised that I would be going to ICU. WTF!!!! I was told that it was only because I don't have a history of heart problems and they want to observe. Happy Happy Joy Joy!!! I told the staff that I would be the worse patient so that they would inspired to release me early. I don't think I could ever top the way Grumpy used to act. I remember being embarrassed. Truthfully, I can't treat people like that. I was released the next day and I was wheel chaired back to my car.

Religion versus Science = Politics & Heretics

Famed Astronomer Galileo Galilei proclaimed and proved that the planets revolve around the sun and not around the Earth. He was declared a heretic and faced the Inquisition for publishing and defending that idea.
Galilei was a Scientist but also a Catholic who tried to teach that Science did not undermine the position of God but reinforced it. He held that Science and Religion were not enemies but Allies - two difference languages telling the same story. Unfortunately the unification of Science and Religion was not what the Church wanted to hear. Galilei was tried as a heretic, found guilty and placed on permanent house incarceration.
Today the middle finger sits in a small glass egg among lodestones and telescopes, the only human fragment in a museum devoted entirely to scientific instruments. It is hard to know how Galileo would have felt about the final resting place of his finger. Whether the finger points upwards to the sky, where Galileo glimpsed the glory of the universe and saw God in mathematics, or if it sits eternally defiant to the church that condemned him, is for the viewer to decide.

The and spouse have to defer to him, and when they disobey, he has the right to punish them so they will learn to do the right thing.

Trump and those crafting the Republican message play straight into this strict father worldview, which is accepted in many parts of the country. Even traditionally Democratic groups such as union members and Hispanics include members who are strict fathers at home or in their private life, Lakoff says. The Republican message plays well with them.

The nurturant parent family, on the other hand, believes that are born good and can be made better. Both parents are responsible for raising , and their role is to nurture their and raise them to nurture others. Empathy and responsibility toward your also extend to empathy and responsibility toward those who are less powerful, or suffering from pollution or disease, or are marginalized in some way.

When I moved out of GEMINI RISING'S place in 2009 - He inadvertly placed of a box of his property in the back of my car. So today, I found correspondence between him and a Miss Addy Rose from Nigeria.
What a bunch of mushy gobble goof. She is like a rose giving the leaves away but saving the flower for her "Honey" who has fantastic abs. Yeah Right. There a big belly attached those ABS. However, He did manage to drop 40 pounds when I was cooking for him.
God forgive me for thinking such bad thoughts. Poor GEMINI RISING!!!

He paid one thousand nine hundred fifty AMERICAN dollars for a plane ticket for Ms. Addie Rose.
Next comes the message entitled "Sad and Confused." He sent the money but no Addie Rose. He waited at the airport and found out that no such flight existed.
She writes back - Her mother was sick and she needed to use the money for her Mother's Hospital Bill. Would he please send her money again for the plane ticket? Absolutely, Positively Yes! After all Real Love has no price. It's only money.
I have no idea how that scenario ends but what a Fool Hearted Man.
Why is he so willing to chase after the fantasy which will only empty his wallet and ignore the reality where true love can be found.
The Reality is that I am all alone again. I am a former exotic dancer and I can attract the men. The problem is that most of them seem to be after just one thing and I have so much more to offer than that.
Dear God, Please - No More Fool Hearted Men!!!!!!!
So tomorrow, I'll go worship with the Quakers and find another hiking trial to conquer. Life on Life's Term

Behind every profile is a living breathing human being who deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.
Folks on this site are dealing with many different challenges that life on life's terms can present.
physical and/or emotional pain. loneliness
marriages go south or spouses go to the spirit world. Isolation - We all need friends cyber or otherwise.
There is always the quest for the "Great Love Connection" which seems to exist for a few.
There are Frogs, Frogs, and more Frogs. Individuals who are less than honest about their marital status. Perhaps they don’t want to consummate a relationship beyond the webcam.
There are female frogs who want to empty a man’s wallet. Meeting for coffee and dating can feel like a job interview.
It takes major league faith to move forward and take a chance on love again.
Some individuals response to life on life’s terms by drinking, snorting, popping, inserting mind altering chemicals or perhaps they get their jollies making others on the site feel like they are "less than."
Nobody deserves to be ridiculed because of different political views, different spiritual beliefs, body sizes and shapes or how well they articulate or spell.
Playing nice is responding to comments even with differing opinions respectfully. Personal attacks suck swampwater. Just my not so humble opinion.

My Quaker Worship Group is small compared to other religious groups but there is not a bench warmer among us. Two years ago, I received a Text asking if I wanted to be a William Penn House Text for SAYMA. I had been to the William Penn House but I had no clue what SAYMA was. SAYMA = Southern Appalachian Yearly Meeting Association. What I do is write a yearly report on the happening of the WPH and determine how much money we should sent them. I have also gotten involved with FCNL which is our lobbying group. It is really an easy job so I usually sit in on my girlfriend's Earth Care Committee meetings. I have gotten the message that it's time for me to get off the bench and become more active in the Earth Care Committee.
I usually take the train to Washington DC and stay a few day but Deni wanted to drive. I am familiar with how to meander around DC utilizing Uber and the Metro. Driving in DC is a bad plan.
We stayed with friends in Alexandria and Ubered it over the Metro. We were missed the Pot Luck at the Quaker Meeting House in Washington DC - We made part of the Silent Worship but when they started singing we decide to go find dinner.
My cell phone with the Uber application died so we had to use a cab. The cab driver was a Muslim from Pakistan which lead to an interesting conversation.

The Search for John Adams/Genealogy

It was a journey getting the documentation for DAR Membership. It requires proof of Birth, Death and Marriage of every generation leading to the Patriot. Some were easier to get than others. My Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother all died in Las Vegas. It was a Mecca for them. It is not my Mecca but they were the easiest to acquire.
The brick wall was my 2nd Great Grandfather. John Adams Willett He died in his early 30's and records of him seemed to have disappeared. He was my link to my 5th Great Grandfather George Willett who is the qualifying patriot Membership. I wrote to the Catholic Parish where he was a member. I send for his wife's DC in Florida. Her parents were listed on the D.C. John Manning from Scotland and Cornelia Drury. When I found the Drury name, I decided to go another direction. This lead to a Sixth Grandfather Phillip Drury the patriot who qualified me for DAR membership.
The Interesting thing is that when researching the ancestors, they become alive again. I promised my 2nd Great Grandfather that I would find him and I did. The Church Records John Adams Willet came after I submitted the application for Phillip Drury

Bye Bye! Confederate Monuments in New Orleans

Early this morning, with a large number of New Orleans Police Department officers standing watch, city contractors wearing bulletproof vests and masks to hide their identities dismantled the first of four Confederate monuments slated for relocation in New Orleans.
The monument to the Battle of Liberty Place, an obelisk first erected near the foot of Canal Street in 1891, commemorates the members of the Crescent City White League — all-white; mostly Confederate veterans — who died during an 1874 uprising against the integrated metropolitan police force and the Louisiana state militia. New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu described it as “the most offensive of the four” monuments slated for removal, adding that it was erected to “revere white supremacy,” according to the Guardian. Though the monument has been relocated and amended several times, its public display remained hotly contested in recent decades, and it was often vandalized with anti–white supremacy graffiti.
Most of my ancestors bravely fought for the Confederacy but it was a bad cause. States rights to maintain an economy based on forced labor where human beings are regarded as property. A monument declaring White Supremacy doesn't belong in a public park where a large percentage of the population is non-white. History can't be white washed but that monument belongs in a museum.
