HELLO THE PORCH !!! 11/23/2018

It's been a while since anyone has sat in this rocking chair... I had to brush away the cobwebs... hmmm! I bet there hasn't been any music either... I can remedy that... I'll put on some 'middle of the road' stuff that should appeal to most - ya know... not too loud ... not too heavy ... a few danceable numbers.

No politics... that is the only request ...

What will happen in 2016? 1/14/2016

As we enter the New Year I can't help wondering what will be in store for us this year. Elections in USA will bring a new President and world leader... Surely not Donald Trump? However the result is in the hands of the voters who are much better informed than me.

General elections are also due in Australia this year with current Prime Minister Turnbull and his Liberal/National coalition ...

Over population... It's happening now. 9/5/2015

It seems that every western country is suffering problems due to the influx of refugees and illegal immigration. In USA presidential candidates are promising to build giant fences along the border with Mexico to keep people out and one candidate has also promised to treat the border with Canada similarly.

Europe is being overcome with thousands of refugees entering Greece, Italy, France ...

Then and Now

Nowadays we are so often reminded about our ecological or environmental “footprint” that is has become just another noise in the background of busy lives. No one actually knows just how big their personal footprint is, and should they somehow find out, they would be hard pressed to determine what it ought to be.

Pierre Berton, a (late) well-known Canadian ...

Conciousness. 9/13/2011

At the outset take my words with a pinch of salt. Ponder yourself and see the truth or otherwise.

Our conciousness is made of all that we know, all that we have accumulated over the years in going through school, college workplace, Everything that we KNOW.Memory.Thought is the movement of this memory. It moves through the present using memory from the past through to the future never ...

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER GOOD BREEDING???? 7/18/2011

I saw this word in a blog a couple of days ago, this has nothing to do with that blog of the writer as such, but the meaning of the word in it self. My mother used that word freely, if you did not come from a family that could show a pedigree going centuries back, you were of no good breeding. This used to make my toes curl, since most of the people habituating this world are not able to do this ...

THE MORE THINGS CHANGE, THE MORE THEY STAY THE SAME 6/14/2011

There are many new illness that did not exist when I went to nursing school or even when I was working in Northern CA. there was some drug addictions, but seamed more heroin and later LSD and mushrooms ...At that time if you had a drinking problem it was pushed under the rug. In my family (my father's) we had some 'crazy' aunts that were living in one of the wings in the house, we never spoke ...

this is your life, be free! 3/8/2011

"Do not get used to what does not make you happy, angry, when deemed necessary. From flood your heart with hope, but do not let it drown in them. If you feel you need to come back, come back! If you feel you need to follow, follow! If everything is wrong, start again. ... If it works, continue. If you miss, kill it. If you lose a love, not lost! If the find, hold it! " Fernando Pessoa

Thank YOU Sweetie 12/22/2010

Thank you my sweet--for being you. Amazing and wonderful and a heart so true! You're kind and loving and always make me smile. I get the butterflies every time its your number I dial.

I think my heart skips a beat when I hear your voice. To love you forever--I have no choice. Thank you for showing me that TRUE love is real. What I feel for you I thought I would never feel.

Thank ...

A Definition of Unconditional Love 12/22/2010

I realize that I cannot know what is best for you although perhaps sometimes I think I do. I've not been where you have been, viewing life from that angle you have, I do not know what you have chosen to learn, how you have chosen to learn it, with whom, or in what time period. I have not walked life looking through your eyes, so how can I know what you need. I allow you to be in the world without ...

GOING BACK 26 11/20/2010

It was about a couple of days before I had to return to Lima and back to school, I woke up with high temperature and chills, the local doctor/vet was called in and his diagnosis was Malaria, a little pesky mosquito had left its mark. I was severely ill for a couple of weeks, was made to drink quinine, over and over again, it is the bitterest taste imaginable. I don’t remember much about those ...

GOING BACK 24 11/16/2010

We rode for several hours, finely we reached the campsite, this was very exciting, I remember the great time I had with my father in the Galapagos, and thought that I had all knowledge to direct the other but this was a total different camping, the fact that my bottom hurt so bad that I could hardly walk, and it seemed that everybody knew what to do but me, so wisely I kept my mouth shut and ...

Music of the new generation! 11/15/2010

My grandson was listening to a video on You Tube where they were just screaming. So I was able to trace it and the words on it were all f's and b's and c's (obscene words) so I read the lyrics and was surprised at what passes for music now with the younger generation! It shows a lack of vocabulary but the worst part was the screaming!

Exercise for Seniors 11/3/2010

I'm convinced that the older we get, the more exercise we need to be healthy. A recent study concluded post menopausal women decrease odds of cancer by walking. Another said exercise will prevent ahlzeimers disease better than Soduko. Exercise and diet will help us lose weight. Exercise makes us feel better, boosts our mood, can help control diabetes and in some cases eliminate it. Lets start!!! ...
