I believe it's a hay baler. You see them in pastures all the time. Goofy man in the picture is cute. Abracadabra

It's hay ring,(square actually) but it's for hay. My boss drew a rough sketch and I took it from there.

My neighbor has a custom made hay trailer with a somewhat similar rack which allows for hay stacking without risk of loosing the load. I haven't seen it loaded but it is obviously set for round bales. The thing must be as long as a semi trailer but pulled behind a dually diesel.

An interesting project to keep a large bale off the ground. Do you mind me asking if it is for cattle or horses?

Always a good feeling to complete a project, isn't it? I'm so old I remember hay just being tossed out on the ground and the bales shaken open. A dusty job! Then came the wooden hay racks in the pastures to keep the hay from being trampled into the mud, but the bales still had to be shaken open and tossed into them. And now, about all you see are the big round bales. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Well "HAY" you did a good job! I'm gonna have to look around the countryside as we go for our daily rides in the country. The last place I saw any bales that aren't round was when we went to Indiana where I lived and drove through the Amish settlement on the way to a wedding.

How about the hay bales that are wrapped in white plastic to keep them dry. In the old days the hay was stooked. Men were hired to move from one farm to the next to stook the hay and also the grain. Then the balers were invented.

Rocket,,, the hay is for cattle. The Boss has 12 to 13 head of cows. I think I was about 15 or 16 when they started doing the round bails do to a a shortage of bailing twine and wire. I enjoy and derive great pleasure from building and creating things, and yes,, it is SOOO satisfying to see the completed work. Thanks Everyone.

Rebel you could become very popular making bakers racks for the ladies. Especially one custom made to fit an empty corner.
