The Truss Press and a Finished Truss

The first photo is the Truss press. After I cut the boards to make a truss, I place them in this machine. I use metal "cleats" or "gang nails" to hold them together. I push a button and it presses the gang nails into the wood.
The second photo is a finished truss for a ' wide building. Our "signature style" is a barn roof.

As the "cut man", I see every stick of lumber that comes into the shop. Sometimes it's a challenge to find good straight lumber, but I manage.
For the most part, the saw shop is a "one man" operation but there are times when two men could be more productive but for now, I can handle it.

There is a Amish truss factory near us, and it's amazing to see their stock all lined up to be shipped. When I say near, I mean about 20 miles away. Out here, anything within 30 miles or so is near.
